New supported catalyst for the Huisgen [3+2] azide-alkyne cycloaddition, a three-component click reaction, has been prepared by immobilization of copper(II) complex of 4-phenyl-2, 2:6, 2-terpyridine on activated multi-walled carbon nanotubes [AMWCNTs-OCu(II)-PhTPY]. This heterogeneous catalyst was fully characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis. To ensure the efficiency and fidelity of copper species, the implementation of three-component strategies in click-chemistry was allowed. The new catalytic system enabled the development of one-pot, two-step, regioselective, efficient, mild and eco-friendly three-component syntheses of diversely decorated 1, 4-disubstituted 1, 2, 3-triazoles from terminal alkynes, epoxides and sodium azide. This three-component reaction proceeds smoothly in water as a green and safe solvent. The catalyst showed high catalytic activity, 1, 4-regioselectivity and successful yields were obtained in all cases. The heterogeneous catalyst could be recovered by a simple filtration of the reaction mixture and it was recycled five successive times without significant loss of activity. CNT/ZnO composite nanofibers have been prepared by electrospinning method and zinc acetate dihydrate, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and the oxidized CNT as precursors. The as spun nanofibers were annealed at 460 C in air and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Uv diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and Raman spectroscopy were employed to characterize the composite properties. SEM observations revealed that the diameter of composite nanofibers varied from 120 to 300 nm. The analysis of the DRS data showed higher transmittance for ZnO relative to CNT/ZnO samples and the presence of CNT in nanofibers confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. The photocatalytic study of the CNT/ZnO composite showed a better activity for the degradation of methylene blue under both UV and visible light as compare to pure ZnO nanofibers. A new application of carbon nanocrystals (CNCs) has been introduced, which makes use of the effective catalytic activity of CNCs on the degradation reaction of Azo dyes. In this work, the use of CNCs as promoter of the production of hydroxyl radicals was explored. Keywords: Carbon nanocrystals; Degradation; AZO dye; Catalyst; Peroxidase mimetic

In the present work, high density of sulfonated carbon nanotubes were prepared by reacting concentrated sulfuric acid with single-walled carbon nanotubes at high temperature and characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform Infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy and Neutralization titration. The heterogeneous catalyst, which is a strong protonic solid acid, was used for efficient and environmental synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a, j]xanthene derivatives. The obtained results showed that this catalyst is a robust heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a, j]xanthenes and can be recovered by simple filtration and reused without loss of its activity. In addition, excellent yields, solvent free conditions, easy work-up and non-toxicity of the catalyst are the other noteworthy advantages of the present method. Keywords: Heterogeneous catalyst; Functionalization; Characterization; Dibenzoxanthene; Solvent-free
