State of Sarawak
Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia. It lies on the island of Borneo bordering with the
eastern state of Sabah, the Sultanate of Brunei and the Indonesian provinces of Kalimantan. It is
home to 27 ethnic groups, each with its own distinct language, culture and lifestyle. Sarawak
also known as the Land of the Hornbill has all the elements required to become Malaysias
next desirable destination, from natural beauty, history, heritage, festivals to modern city living
and luxury. Indeed, it has become a potpourri of experiences appreciated by travellers from all
over the world.

Visitor : Any person visiting a country other than his own usual place of residence for a
period not exceeding one year and for any reason other than following an
occupation remunerated from within the country visited.
Tourist : A temporary visitor staying for at least one night but not more than one year in
a country visited and whose purpose of visit could be classified as leisure,
business, visit friends or relatives or attending conferences and meetings other
than the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the country visited.
