Introduction: Volunteerism is a process, in experience that is essential to growth to go beyond oneself and ones needs and wants, to think of others in the society, beyond our immediate circle and family
Anonymous

This quote was the key idea of most volunteerism movements nowadays. From different sectors of our society, may it be local or international; advocates of this selfless philosophy encourage everyone to create a better future from our present time. Many had already been involved and in fact, the youth sector had the greater number of hours spent for volunteer service than adults (Fritz, J., 2012). In our country, volunteerism movements were mostly been focused on helping the unfortunate. This is from the fact that there is a great percentage of our population that belongs to the lower class. According to the data from the

SERVING THE YOUTH: October 21, AN OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL YOUTH 2012
National Statistical Coordination Board, more than one-quarter (26.5%) of the population falls below the poverty line in 2009 (Philippine Development Plan 2011-2012). One effect of poverty in the country is poor school participation among students. To quote an article written by Olchondora, R. (2011) in Philippine Daily Inquirer:
One out of eight Filipinos aged between six and 24 is an out-ofschool youth (OSY), according to the 2010 Annual Poverty Indicators Survey (APIS) of the National Statistics Office (NSO). This translates to about 16 percent of the estimated 39 million Filipinos in that age bracket, or 6.24 million people

This implies to us a decline in education may take place as long as poverty comes in line. As long as this continues, it may be expected that the country may soon be poorer. However, this can be aided with selfless service rendered by volunteerism. To go beyond oneself and ones needs and wants and to think of others in the society must take place. Rationale: To continually ignite the spirit of volunteerism, the class of II-27 BS Psychology conducted an outreach program for out-of-school youths. This activity is focused among these beneficiaries since from the premise above, they are the ones affected by poverty; to help them build passion for learning, the facilitators designed a program for this cause.
