Dear CCAACC Community Member & Partners: It has been my distinct privilege to serve as the Chairman in 2012. This year has brought much transition and innovative change to the Chamber, helping to make us one of the most accomplished African-American Chambers in the nation. We hope you have had the opportunity to take advantage of the numerous member benefits the Chamber has to office and that you will continue to partner with us throughout 2013 as we have a number of very exciting programs and partnerships planned. From our Annual Awards Gala to our Black Elected Officials reception and community leadership awards to our new and existing business and networking programs, the Chamber truly does have something for everyone. We hope that you find the Chamber to be an excellent resource and connector as you continue to grow and thrive, and pray that you prosper in all ways in 2013. Please read the Presidents message to as well as the rest of this years annual report to learn more about the year that was for CCAACC including, White House briefings, international trade missions, and our first Annual CCAACC | Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Policy Trip. I would also like to take this moment to acknowledge and express appreciation for our Presidents and Boards significant leadership, diligence, creativity, and commitment to our community.

Dear CCAACC Members & General Business Community: It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the President & CEO for the Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce in 2012. Since our founding in 1982, the Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce has dedicated itself to providing assistance to all small businesses within the Greater Austin region. We strongly believe that all businesses should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential. Not only does the Chamber provide avenues for small businesses to gather further assistance, but also, the Chamber offers training and networking opportunities for individuals and businesses to expand their visibility within the community. The past year was filled with remarkable accomplishments that have created a solid foundation for the chamber to better support African-American commerce in the region and I am confident this organization will continue to exceed expectations. This year the chamber demonstrated that it has the wherewithal to represent the African-American business community, gain and maintain your trust and confidence, and the ingenuity to introduce initiatives to attract new businesses and increase the acumen of local firms. We have taken steps to sharpen the focus of the Chambers activities on the needs of the unique business community in the greater Austin region, by developing a strategic vision for how we can best advance the well-being of our dynamic and diverse membership. We have developed an organizational structure for the future that continues to make great strides on behalf of local small businesses and African-American community. We recognize that we are only as strong as our members, and the Chamber is continuously working to help enhance the businesses that make our organization an influential alliance. We are pleased to present this annual report which highlighting our activities, and you, during 2011 and 2012.

The Dedrick-Hamilton House

In 2006, voters supported a General Obligation bond referendum that provided funding to create three cultural facilities for minority populations, Hispanic, Asian, and African American. The Dedrick-Hamilton house, a historic structure at 912 East 11th Street, was home to the family of one of the first freed slaves in Travis County. The house was designated for renovation and expansion to become the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility.

The area referred to as the heart of the African American community in East Austin, once hosted some of the most famous rhythm and blues singers at the nearby Victory Grill and was integral in the civil rights movement. The Facility will add to this cultural significance and will house ProArts Collective, an award-winning arts organization, the Capital City African American Chamber of Commerce that provides services focused on supporting African American businesses citywide, and a visitors bureau to highlight the history of the culturally rich neighborhood.
