Role Model Ammaar-e-Yaathir (Kaneez Rizvi)

During the construction of the Masjid of Rasoolallah (saw) everyone carried the adobe one brick at a time while Ammar would carry two at a time. The Holy Prophet (saw) passed by Ammar, removed the dust off his head, and said, May Allah (swt) be merciful to Ammar. He will be killed by a rebellious group. Ammar will invite them to (obey) Allah (swt) and they will invite him to the (Hell) fire. Ammar ibn Yaasir was one of the earliest converts to Islam and the first Muslim to build a masjid in his own house in which he used to worship Allah (swt). Ammar accepted Islam along with his father Yaasir and his mother Sumayyah. Due to this, they suffered great tortures by the Quraysh to such an extent that Ammars parents were the first man and woman shaheed in Islam. Ammar was among those who immigrated to Abyssinia and among the earliest immigrants (muhajirun) to Medina. He was present in the battle of Badr and all other battles during the lifetime of the Holy Prophet (saw); and he showed his might and favor in all Islamic struggles in the best way. Rasoolallah (saw) had told Ammar ibn Yaasir and his parents that: Family of Yaasir, be patient, for your destination is paradise. The Holy Prophet (saw) said that Ammar was filled with faith from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet. After the death of the Holy Prophet (saw), Ammar was one of the closest adherents and best supporters of Ameer ul-Momineen Imam Ali (as) during the reign of the first three khulafaa. During the khilaafat of Uthman, the Muslims protested against his policy on the distribution of the Public Treasury (Bayt ul-maal). Uthman replied that the money in the treasury was sacred and belonged to Allah (swt), and that he, as the successor of the Prophet (saw), had the right to dispose of it as he thought fit. He threatened and cursed all who would oppose his statement. Upon this, Ammar ibn Yaasir boldly declared his disapproval, charged him with his tendency of

ignoring the interests of the general public, and accused him of reviving the customs of kaafirs abolished by the Prophet (saw). For this, Uthman commanded him to be harshly beaten. In spite of such action by the Khaleefa, Ammar remained one of the most sincere supporters of Ameer-ul-Momineen Imam Ali (as). He participated fully in all social, political, and military activities during this period, especially in the Battles of Jamal and Siffeen. Ammar was shaheed on 9th Safar 37 A.H. in the battle of Siffeen at the age of over ninety years. Ameer-ul-Momineen Imam Ali (as) offered his Namaaz-e-Mayyat, and, with his own hands, buried him. The Holy Prophet (saw) had said: Alas! A rebellious group which swerves from the truth will murder Ammar. He will be calling them towards Paradise and they will be calling him towards Hell. His killer and those who strip him of arms and clothing will be in Hell. Salawaat!
