GROUP MEMBERS
We had a group of 5 individuals. The group was made by our course instructor Mr. Salmaan Rahman. Following are the names of my group members: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Mydah Hussain Saad Bin Nazir Syeda Ramsha Hassan Anum Iqbal Ahsan Nasar
A group is composed of individuals, and every individual is different from one another. The abilities and resources that each individual in the group brings to the group are very important as they to a large extent determine the performance of the group. A group is never complete without its member, so the role of each and every member is of great significance. All my group members were very able and good at studies. They had the basic knowledge of management. As far as the interpersonal skills are involved, no conflict arose within the group members during the entire project. However the communication within the group was a bit weak. Everyone had positive personality traits. There was no authoritarianism or dominance involved. Everyone was responsible and independent. So, it effected in our performance in a positive way as there was no conflict in the group and also everyone did ones work with all the hard work, they could put into it. Overall, the group performance, productivity and morale were very high.
Group Structure
The internal structure that defines that defines member behavior and performance is basically composed of group structure. Basically it consists of norms, roles, conformity, group size and group cohesiveness. Roles:
In a group, every member has some roles. Similarly, in our group, Ramsha Hassan was the group leader. She was mostly responsible for the delegation of tasks to us. She was mainly performing
the task accomplishment role. However, all the group members motivated and helped each other in the completion of the report and told one another if something was written wrong in the report. Conformity:
There was a certain level of conformity in the group. However, if someone was sure that he/she was right, no pressure was put onto them to conform to the rest of the group. Group Size:
Our group was small one i.e. it had just five members. So it was very easy to manage the group. Another factor that helped us was that everyone was willing to work. Everyone was responsible and knew that they dont only have to complete the project but also give their best to it. Norms:
Every group has certain norms. Everyone in the group was expected to give their best. However, if something was not up to mark, or if someone interpreted the information we collected from the two organizations in a wrong way, help was provided to them. Moreover, everyone was expected to visit the organizations. Group Cohesiveness:
As I mentioned earlier, everyone in the group was very responsible and cooperative. So we had a high cohesiveness in the group. Whenever, there was some group meeting everyone was more than happy to come. Any everyone was determined to work diligently and reach our group goal of making our report in such a way that the reader completely knows about the management systems of the organizations after reading the report.
Group Processes
Group Decision Making:
In our group, all the decisions were made with mutual consensus. Everyone was asked if they had any problem with the organizations we had selected or if they had some other options in their minds. Also the division of the report work was done with mutual consensus. Everyone was asked if they were ok if the part assigned to them, or if they want to do something else. This helped our group in the way that everyone was happy that their opinion was asked and no conflicts arose later.
Conflict Management:
Definitely when you are working a group you do have many conflicts because it is not the decision of individual person, all the things has to be set according to the group choice so conflicts automatically arises, but we came over all those conflicts before arising them and do solve all of our problems by discussing with each other. More over the relationship conflict also arises in such types of projects, but we do not have any such problem like that. We collaborate and accommodate with each other so that in order to avoid such conflicts.
Mydah Hussain
The task given to Mydah was to handle the both companies SWOT analysis deeply. What are the things require for pacific and packages both to sustain in the market or what strategies do they follow in order to work efficiently. Ahsan Nasar
Ahsan was supposed to handle the structure, hierarchies, and enter and gather the data in order that we have collected during our interviews with the organizations management team. Syeda Ramsha Hassan
Ramsha handle the report regarding Packages, she collected the detailed work on it and moreover she further applies the functions of management to the organization. As Packages is the bigger organization so it was a bit difficult task. Anum Iqbal
Anum was dealing the Pacific industry, she did all the functions and she did compare both of the companies regarding their functions. Saad Bin Nazir
My part to edit, compile and print the report, so that the mistakes that have been done by the members unintentionally, I was there to solve them. More over I participate with every member so if someone is facing problem, we both try to solve it.
