Islam and Science Islam is a Arabic word, which means peace.

Islam is a religion which has complet e set of instructions and guidelines for this world and world here after. Islam is not religion which is formed by any human being but it is based on commandmen ts of Allah. Allah Almighty created this whole universe and all creatures. Allah created human being which is called Ashraf ul makhlaqat (superior than all othe r creature). Allah sent almost one lack twenty four thousand (1,02,400) prophets for the guidance of human beings. All prophets preached and conveyed commandmen ts of Allah to human beings. These commands were sent to prophet by Allah throu gh revelation. The first prophet was Hazrat Adam A.S other renowned prophets inc lude Hazrat Ibrahim A.S, Musses and Jesus. Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) is last proph et of Allah. Allah sent various Holy books like Bible, Zabur , Anjeel and Quran. All prophets of Allah conveyed the same message to their nations that is God is one and do not worship anybody except Allah. This world is temporary and human beings are countable for their good or bad dee ds. The people who will pass their life as a Muslim according to the teaching of prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) will go to heaven on the Day of Judgment The Quran contains lot of knowledge and details about the creation of this unive rse and other facts which were largely criticized by the non Muslim scholars due lack of knowledge and enmity. However, the advancement of science and scientifi c research has proved that the facts and information given by Quran about this u niverse is true therefore, there exist a close correlation between Islam and Sci ence. Allah Almighty says in Sura Fussilat, Verse No. 53. We shall show them our signs on the farthest horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that this is the truth (Quran 41:53). Since Quran is a book of Allah therefore everything in the Quran is true whether it is understandable or verifiable by us or not. As a matter of common sense if the Holy Quran is not the book of Allah then it is impossible to explain how a text produced 1400 years ago could have contained ideas that have only been disc overed in modern times. When Quran was revealed on the Holy prophet(S.A.W) at that time the Arabs were a dvanced in language and literature. There were many poets scholars of Arabic lan guage at that time. They were challenged by the Allah that if they said that the Quran is written by any human being then bring one Sura or one verse but nobody could do that. Another important thing to note is that Allah has taken responsibility of safety of Quran which is evident from this fact that Quran is changeless despite lapse of 1400 years. The whole Quran is memorized by heart by the Muslims Huffaz whic h is again a miracle. Following are some of facts which were not admitted by non Muslims however these have been proven by scientific research. The Universe The Quran says about the formation of the universe in Sura Al-Anaam following wo rd. He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth. (101) The information provided by modern science is in full agreement with the informa tion provided by Islam.

The conclusion that scientist has reached today is that the entire universe was created as a result of great explosion. This event is known as The Big Bang theory which proved that the entire universe was created from nothingness as a result of the great explosion of a single point. Modern scientists have agreed over this point that the Big Bang is the only rati onal explanation of the beginning of this universe. Before the Big Bang, there w as nothing like matter. Therefore, we can conclude that the matter, time, and en ergy were created and didnt exist. The Quran says in Sura Fussilat, verse No.11. Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or not. They said: We come, ob edient. (The Quran, 41:11) Not only the Quran says that the Heaven was smoke before its creation but the mo dern science also say that the universe was formed from a gaseous mass principal ly composed of hydrogen and a certain amount of helium. In another Sura Al-Anbiya quran says Have they not who disbelieve seen that the heavens and earth were joined together (as one piece), then We parted them. (21:30) The Big Bang theory says that almost 20,000,000,000 (twenty billion) years ago t he universe started with an explosion of a single extremely condensed state of m atter. Quran also says that the heavens and earth were joined together. Sky and misconceptions Before the advent of the Quran 1400 years ago, The Arab society had lack of know ledge due to which they had many superstitious beliefs regarding the earth and t he sky According to their thinking the earth was flat and the mountains were holding t he sky hanging above. They thought that mountains were working as pillars at bot h the ends of the world. The Allah Almighty says in the Quran : God is He who raised up the heavens without any support.. (Surah Ar-Rad, 2) After the research of scientific knowledge they believed that the sky is hanging above by the nature of Allah Almighty there is not any support for the sky from the land. Quran is the book of Allah Almighty in which he explained each and ev ery thing related to this world. Allah is the Creator of the heavens and the ear th. Other worlds In the early times when the scientific knowledge was not even at the nascent sta ge, the Quran revealed about the worlds other than the earth and said that Allah is the Lord of the worlds. As a matter of fact, the words, the Lord of the worlds, appear 73 times in the Qu

ran. With advance scientific research we know that there are other planets besid es earth. This was disclosed 14 centuries ago by prophet of Allah Mohammad ( P.B .U.H ) at that time. The very first verse of the first chapter of the Holy Quran is a miracle. It say s: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. (The Quran, Surah Al- Fatiha 1: 1) Protection of the Quran Before the revelation of the Quran Allah had sent three other books (Taurait, Za boor, and Bible) to the people of that time for their guidance but they made cha nges in these books according to their own way from time to time due to which th e meanings of these books totally changed. In Quran there is a verse in which Allah says: The Quran says in Surah Al-Hijr We (Allah) without any doubt sent down the Message (the Quran), and we will assu redly guard against it (from any corruption). (The Quran, 15:9) As a matter of fact, the Quran is the only religious book that is memorized by i ts true followers. Allah promised to assure the protection of the Quran by givin g the memorizing power to their true believers. And We (Allah) have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will receive admonition. (The Quran, Surah Al Qamar 54:17,22,32,40) The one who memorizes the Quran is called a Hafiz. The Hufaz not only memorize the Quran but they also memorize the each verse with their pronunciation and pu nctuation marks of every world. The protection of the Quran from corruption and its memorization by its true believers is an open challenge to mankind. Many Orbits The Quran says about the orbit that: By the sky full of paths and orbits. (The Quran, Surah Adh Dhariyat 51:7) The entire universe has paths and orbits. The Quran also tells us that: The Quran says in Surah Al-Anbiya in Verse No:33) (Allah is the) One who created the night , and the day, and the sun and the moo n, swim along, each in its (own) orbit. Quran has clearly explained that the Sun and the Moon move in a certain orbits. There are about 200 billion galaxies in the universe and nearly 200 billion star s in each galaxy. All planets, satellites and stars swim along their own orbits. The Quran says in Sursh Ya-Seen in verse No 40 :It is not permitted to the sun to overtake the moon, nor can the night outsrip th e day, each swims along in its (own) orbit.

Quran says in another verse that Sun is not static but moves in a definite orbit . The sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed); that is the de cree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. (Ya-Seen 36:38) Modern science has verified the quranic revelation and explained that the Sun is travelling at the speed of 150 miles per second. Therefore the sun travels rou ghly 12,960,000 miles a day! It is an admitted fact that this fact was present in the Quran long before it wa s discovered by the scientists is yet another proof that Allah, the All-Knowing, and the All-Wise is the source of this knowledge. Nature of the sun and the moon Allah says in the Quran, Sura Yunus Verse No 5 that:Allah is the One who made the sun a shining object and the moon as a light, and m easured out (their) stages, that you may know the number of years and the count (of time), Allah did not create this but in truth; He (thus) explains His signs in detail, for those who understand. (The Quran, 10:5) In Surah-Naba Quran says that:3We have built above you seven strong (heavens) and placed therein a blazing lam p. ( Verse:12-13) Similarly in an other verse Quran says that:Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another; And mad e the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun a lamp. (Surah Nooh Verse:1516) To further explain Quran says:Blessed is He who made constellations in the skies and placed therein a lamp (sun ) and a moon giving light. (Surah Al-Furqan Verse No:61) The Quran uses the word NOOR (light) for moon and word SIRAJ or ZIA (lamp) for the sun . The Quran tells us that the sun is the only source of light for our solar syst em. The Quran also tells us that the moon only reflects the suns light. These facts are in perfect harmony with discoveries made by today scientists. Th e Quran had disclosed these facts 14 centuries ago which is quite surprising and something to ponder. Barrier between the two seas Allah says in Surah Ar-Rahman Verse No19-20: He has set free the two seas meeting together. There n them. They do not transgress. is a barrier betwee

Modern science has also discovered that at points where two different seas meet, there is a barrier between them. Although this barrier is not visible but due t his barrier two seas do not meet each other maintain their own temperature, sali nity and density. The Quran speaks about the layer /divider between the fresh and salt water. In Surah Al-Furqan Verse No:53 He is the one who set free the two kinds of water, one sweet and palatable, and the other salty and bitter. And He has made between them a barrier and a for bidding partition. The Mountains Allah says in the Holy Quran , Sura An-Naba Have We not made the earth as a bed, and the mountains as pegs (78:6-7) The latest research has revealed that mountains have roots. These roots are d eeply embedded in the ground and mountains have a shape like a peg. The scientis ts agree that mountains have deep roots under the surface. Actually the mountain s are working like a peg for the earth and Quran used the word peg in the verse ab ove. It is proved by the science in 19th century that mountains have deep roots and modern geology has also confirmed the truth of the Quranic verse. Fingerprints of human beings It is stated in the Quran that it is easy for God to bring man back to life afte r death. The fingerprints of peoples are particularly discussed: In Surah Al-Qiyama Verse No:3-4 Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? Nay, We are able to put togethe r in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. This emphasis on fingerprints has a very special meaning. It is now proved that each human being has his own unique fingerprints. Everyone including identical twins, has a set of unique fingerprints. Today fingerprints are used as a source of identification around the world. It is concluded that peoples identities are coded at their fingertips. This coding system may also be compared to the barcode system that is used today . Before modern research about the fingerprints people thought of them as an ord inary curves without any meaning or importance. In the Quran, Allah calls for our attention to significance of finger prints. Th is is yet another miracle of the Quran which is proved by today scientists. There are many other points which were mentioned in Quran 1400 years ago and non Muslims strongly criticized and refuted the Quranic point of view but with the advancement of scientific research in different fields have proved that everythi ng mentioned in the Quran about anything in this universe is true. If there seem s any difference between the information provided by Quran with information by s cience actually that due to inability of human being to truly understand the con cept explained by the Quran. With the development in the days to come all inform ation provided by the Quran about the universe shall be verified by the science.
