A HUMBLE BEGINNING WITH A TWEET Its my pleasure to inform you that the group is now registered as an incorporated organisation and there could have never been a better date than First of Muharram which marks the beginning of new Hijri calendar. We also have now a twitter account @PIAInc so pls. follow us for any urgent updates. The constitution is uploaded at http://www.scribd.com/doc/114420760. With seven initial members it is a small beginning but with high hopes and aspirations.
The coach Mohammad Haneef, Ahmed Alam and Lodhi all have asked me to forward my thanks to you all and to Rida as officially their liaison person. This morning we also received call form Hockey WA telling that she was the best liaison person ever. All the photographs will be uploaded by tomorrow evening. Team is now off to Melbourne for participation in Champions trophy (Dec 1 9) with our best wishes. CONGRATULATIONS also to Hockey WA for organising such a great event and all their volunteers. JOINING BEYOND GAMBLING PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH AUSTRALIAN ASIAN ASSOCIATION Our first partnership starts with collaboration from Australian Asian Association to arrange an evening for Pakistani community on 23rd February, 5 9 pm. More details in next issue but please save the date.
LAUNCH OF REPORT ON CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC DIVERSITY Last week an invitation was received from the Minister Castrilli s Office to attend the launch of a report commissioned by the Office of Multi-cultural Interests (OMI). The report acknowledges the cultural and economic diversity in Western Australia. Hon. G M Castrilli MLA (Minister for local Government: Heritage; Citizenship and Multicultural Interests) formally released the report at the Government House on the occasion of Consular Corps Fair. The fair was attended by a huge number of visitors. The Hon. Consul of Pakistan did not participate in the event.
Machine Readable Passport System has replaced the existing manual passport system. As per the current Government policy, every Citizen of Pakistan shall have Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for traveling abroad. The issuance of MRP passport is also complementing the Government's efforts to increase the national database and thus improve overall governance of the country.
Process
For issuance of MRP the applicant will have to go through the following stages:
The Machine Readable Passport (MRP) is issued for a period of Ten (10) years.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH (15 26 YEARS) TO GET INVOLVED There are opportunities for young ones to represent on different advisory committees for youth in WA. With the group now incorporated, we will be very happy to nominate. All that is required is your area of interest like sports, mental health etc. and the nominee needs to be PR or citizen of Australia. The EOI are due on 30th Nov so will appreciate to receive them by Friday at our email address.
