PAKISTANI OLYMPIANS IN PERTH

The very first assignment after incorporation was to welcome the National hockey team of Pakistan for International Super Series in Perth. The team had a remarkable win against India on Sunday to get bronze medal. Thanks to all supporters who come forward for a dinner with hockey team at a very short notice at Hilliarys. All members who have purchased tickets from us were invited. Not only the dinner, was the nine car entourage quite impressive from South to North Perth and back. Thanks to Dr. Farhat, Asim, Ateeq, Khusrau and Badar and their families for making the team feel welcomed. The boys were all smiles and legend Olympian Akhtar Rasul specially commended the community to take care of them and to the Pakistani family who took care of their meals during five days stay. I personally spoke to few boys who all said that they did not miss home cooked food at all and could feel the love that was the main ingredient of meals prepared for them.

The coach Mohammad Haneef, Ahmed Alam and Lodhi all have asked me to forward my thanks to you all and to Rida as officially their liaison person. This morning we also received call form Hockey WA telling that she was the best liaison person ever. All the photographs will be uploaded by tomorrow evening. Team is now off to Melbourne for participation in Champions trophy (Dec 1 9) with our best wishes. CONGRATULATIONS also to Hockey WA for organising such a great event and all their volunteers. JOINING BEYOND GAMBLING PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH AUSTRALIAN ASIAN ASSOCIATION Our first partnership starts with collaboration from Australian Asian Association to arrange an evening for Pakistani community on 23rd February, 5 9 pm. More details in next issue but please save the date.
