having difficulty, or I will provide more complex activities for them during differentiated instruction, or allow them to go to the computer for enrichment.

Part II: IMPLEMENTATION How will I find out what students already know about this topic? Pre-assessment I will begin the class with open discussion and ask who can tell me what a fact is and what an opinion is. Then I will ask the students to give me some examples What will I do to make a connection between students and this lesson? Motivation(Hook) I will show students a short video clip of a conversation between 2 cartoon characters, from the television show Arthur and the students will be asked to find 3 facts and 3 opinions stated In the video. As students get the correct answer I will give them a treat This lesson is important because when collecting information, one needs to be able to tell the difference between what is factual and what is not, and in life, you need to be able to tell the difference. I will model how students can tell the difference between statements of facts and those that are opinions. By using some personal examples that can be made within the classroom and on the spot. What will we do together as they learn how to succeed at the new task? Together, the teacher and students will complete the activity pulled up from the WEB regarding fact and opinion Questions: 1. Can it be proven? 2. Does everyone feel the same about it? 3. Does it require research 4. Does it contain any signal words Throughout the lesson, I will walk around and monitor students work and I will assist students at their desks while they are working.

Music Students can sing nursery rhymes or other songs that are factual or make believe PART III IMPLEMENTATION What worked for you during the lesson? What did not work? What changes would you make when you teach this lesson again to make it more effective? After presenting this lesson the changes I would make to improve my quality of teaching would be to introduce the cartoon video and tell them what they will be looking for while they watch the video instead of just watching it than telling me what the saw in the video. Also I will use more Fact or Opinion strips in the activity and due some more drill and practice. I believe these are the best changes to be made to improve this lesson.
