Students will learn how the Industrial Revolution affected politics, culture and the economy in the world.

What will students be able to do at the conclusion of this lesson? Write measurable objective(s).

At the end of this lesson students will be able to explain in detail what the Industrial Revolution is and how it affected economy, culture, and politics around the world. Varying Objectives for Individuals Needs
How will I vary these objectives for students who do not understand the material?

I will group these students heterogeneously so that they can learn from one another at the beginning of class.
How will I vary these objectives for students who have already mastered the concept?

The heterogeneous grouping will allow the students who have mastered the concept to sharpen their skills by explaining it to other students.
How will I vary these objectives for students who are presently learning English?

The students learning English will get the opportunity to hear others talk about this and I will also relate this to the Industrial Revolution in their original country.

Part II: IMPLEMENTATION Pre-assessment Motivation(Hook)


How will I find out what students already know about this topic?

We will open class with a discussion on what is the Industrial Revolution.


What will I do to make a connection between students and this lesson?

At the beginning of the lesson I will pose the question Who knows what the Industrial Revolution is? I will then have a volunteer from the class explain what they think it its.
What will I say to explain the importance of learning this lesson?

Statement of Purpose Teacher Modeling or Demonstration

If the Industrial Revolution did not take place we would still be relying on farms for our economy.
What will I do to show students what is expected?

I will answer the two questions that I want them to answer in their groups, and then give them the opportunity to discuss it in the groups. This will take place in the first 15 minutes in class.
What do you think we will learn? What do you already know?
What will we do together as they learn how to succeed at the new task?

Guided Practice

After we finish a slide show from the textbook, we will use a chart to answer cause and effect questions on the board as a class. The students will fill out their cause and effect sheets on their own.
What will I ask to know if students understand so far? List questions.

Checking for Understanding

What public policies changed in the US after the Industrial Revolution? Where did the Industrial Revolution originate? How did it change the culture in Europe?

These will be their ticket out the door questions.


What will I do throughout the lesson to determine if students understand the information?

What was the economy like before the Industrial Revolution? What were the political parties before the Industrial Revolution? What were the goals of the political parties prior to the Industrial Revolution?
List activities/techniques or describe the strategies that you plan to use. -opening group discussion -slide show -cause and effect chart -ticket out the door What will students do to internalize the knowledge?

Independent Practice

For homework they will answer questions that are in the back of the section in the textbook.
What will students do to demonstrate what they learned during the lesson? If an assessment is used, attach a copy. If using an authentic assessment, attach a copy of the scoring rubric.

Assessment

At the end of the week the students will turn in a one page paper in MLA format on the invention or working condition that they

studied. I will be using a holistic scoring rubric.


How will I conclude the lesson and relate it to future experiences?

Closure

I will relate the Industrial Revolution to the Technology Revolution that is taking place right now in todays society.
What can students do at home or in the classroom to apply the knowledge or skills?

Underneath their desk they have workbooks that they use in the classroom, and they use their textbooks at home. Extension Activities
What will you do to connect the lesson with the home, community and community agencies?

In the class we will discuss how the Industrial Revolution effects the way we live now. Technology Connections Across the Curriculum
How is technology meaningful to this lesson? Technology is meaningful to this lesson because I use it to hook the students and to keep their attention. How do you plan to use implement student used technology during the lesson? The students will have to use word to type their paper on inventions. What activities do you plan to implement to connect your lesson across the curriculum to all 7 content areas? Mathematics: We will discuss great mathematicians who were prominent during this time. English Language Arts: During this unit they will be reading a book on the Industrial Revolution in the ELA class. Science: We will talk about the science gains as well as the inventions during this time.
