MEDT 7461 McCown Module Planning Step

Assess Yourself and the Audience

Description
Personal Assessment I have completed course work towards my Certified Financial Planner and feel that I have the experience and skill set to present information on basic finances. Audience Assessment I informally took a poll while student teaching of other teachers financial knowledge and discovered a lack of knowledge in insurance, budgeting and bills. My hope is that by showing other teachers where they might improve their finances or make their life easier that they would find the additional financial valuable and want to help educated students on personal finances as well. The material covered here will be useful for any adult wanting to get off to a better financial start. I keep this broad so as not to discourage anyone interested in learning to better themselves financially. Though in doing so I am aware that more advance or financially savvy adults will want to assess their knowledge before going through the entire curriculum. Thus they have the opportunity to go straight to the review questions to see if they modules could provide useful information for them. -Identify automobile insurance and discover what additional protection an umbrella policy offers -Create a mint.com account that will allow them to see a financial snapshot of where their money is going -Understand what online bill pay is and what is generally required to set it up -Save money on stamps by using bill pay through bank or credit union. -Knowing where your money is going by using Mint.com -Knowledge of umbrella policies and how to add it to your insurance -The topics are immediately useful in evaluating their own current financial situation -The flow is linear and numbered -The survey opens the floor up for additional topics or ideas they feel would complement the current subject matter -I have included questions to test their retention of the information shared -I have also provided my email address if they are in need of additional assistance A survey will be included at the end to provide constructive feedback.
