My name is Demonte Maurice Terrell McAllister. Im number 97, and I play defensive tackle. Florida State. The Florida State Seminoles. VO Florida States defensive line is bringing pressure and getting in the pocket each and every play. But who is behind the helmet of number 97? Quick and Aggressive on the field, but calm and quiet off...its defensive tackle Demonte McAllister. Ive been playing since I was eight years old. I remember I was about 8 or 9, I was 100 pounds, I was just tipping the scale to play pee wee, and I remember staying up late and doing as much as I could to lose weight, to make sure I had the playing weight just to play. You know I remember those days, and it was so much fun. Just going out there putting on a helmet and running down the eld, people cheering. My mom and my dad, they got me into football. You know I never really knew what it was at rst but before one Halloween they dressed me up as a football player and you know I wore the helmet and I was into it as soon as I could play I was ready to play. BESIDES HELPING TO GET HIM INTO FOOTBALL, DEMONTES MOM SERVES A MUCH MORE IMPORTANT ROLE IN HIS LIFE AND HIS SUCCESS ON THE FIELD.

My motivation is my mom. You know I seen the things she went through. Taking care of four kids. So I mean ive been with her since day one, since I came out. I get a lot of inspiration from her to keep going and to keep ghting. Mcallisters mom also had an impact on his decision to become a seminole. You know Florida State ive always secretly been a fan. You know I was 7 or 8 I had covers from Florida State, we used to always talk about Florida State. You know my mom wanted to go to Florida State also, but she was pregnant with me. So you know im living through her dreams. Its close to home, my family can come see me play. My mom comes to every week theres a home game shes up here. Even Off the field, Demontes mother brings smiles and memories to his teammates. We were all cooking as a defensive tackle group, and he was like my momma told me I couldnt eat onions. So we were cooking spaghetti, we put onions in it, didnt think he would notice. Then his nose started bleeding....So that was kinda funny because it reminded me of the water boy when he was like well my momma say my momma say it was fun. I dont know how is started bleeding, that part wasnt funny, just the my momma, my momma say.

I played football, basketball, baseball. A lot of things. It was pretty much football and baseball. And then when I got to big for football pee wee and stuff I started playing basketball a lot. But then I just switched back to football. Baseball is my favorite. I was actually pretty good at baseball. I had to choose between football and baseball. I just didnt want to be out on the baseball eld. I wanted to play football and hit people. And thats exactly what hes doing. But no matter what Demonte is doing, whether he is hitting people on the eld or cooking spaghetti with his teammates, Demonte is indescribable by his peers. You cant describe Demonte in ve words. Hes a very special kid. I need more than 5 to describe the guy. You know hes different than what im used to. I dont know, you just cant describe him in ve words. Demonte McAllister, a criminology major will be graduating in the spring of 2014, but is bound to be quick and fierce for the rest of his time spent here at Florida State. Keep an eye out for number 97 next time our defense is on the field. Im Heather Biltoc for Seminole Sports Magazine.

LEAD: Florida State is known for their unstoppable defense this year. Between forcing fumbles on the opponent, catching interceptions, and the fan favorite guarterback sack, the defense has stepped up their game this season. But the spotlight isnt always on the secondary or defensive ends. Defensive end Demonte McAllister is making it known he is healthy this season and giving it his all on the field.

TAG: The Seminoles will be playing today at 3:30 pm against the rivals University of Florida Gators. You can count on seeing Demonte McAllister in the rotation of defensive tackles making stops and getting in on some tackles.

Seminole Sports Magazine Script: Sean Quinn Feature Coach Braman-VO with pictures of Sean Tough, Resilient, Motivated, Curious, and Successful. NAT BREAK VO Words that describe the man that worked his way to the top both academically and athletically here at Florida State University, Sean Quinn. A walk-on for the mens cross country team and an academic scholar in international affairs and philosophy. But he wasnt always set on such a philosophical path when he came to Florida State. I started out as a pre-med/pre-law, I wasnt sure if I wanted to go to law school or med school so I just split myself between the two, and then I realized more and more law classes I took had to deal with international affairs and economics thrown in there so I went into international affairs with a focus in economics, and philosophy is a really good for the LSAT. It wasnt only his academic path that he was unsure about. He wasnt positive he was meant to pursue athletics at the collegiate level.

My high school times werent exactly indicative of that. But the more and more I was around college athletes I realized how little we trained in my high school. So it almost seemed that the more and more I realized how undeveloped I was, the more I thought I had a realistic shot in making it. He sent me some emails about coming to Florida State, without a guaranteed roster spot, certainly not on scholarship. His prole certainly didnt show him to be a guy to make our team yet alone make the ACC squad which he eventually did. You know typical orida high school kid. A lot of ambition, not a lot of knowledge about what it really takes to be a good collegiate runner. Really good kid but full of condence that he was going to come in here and knock it out of the park. And thats exactly what he did, knock it out of the park with some advice and motivation that has kept him going all this time. My cross country coach in high school was the old priest, Father Joe. He was a great guy, he was really nice, he was stern when he had to be but he was just really smart. He died a couple of years ago and I miss him a lot. So he was denitely an inspiration, he was a great guy.

I got some good advice. Just because you can doesnt mean you should. When I rst got started, I got way to excited. You know 17 or 18, you trash yourself with some draining runs and I realized a lot of times its not about going all out and working 100% once every month or so, its about going 90% every single week. But sean wasnt always running to the finish line growing up. Back when I was younger, my grandfather started me out boxing, my dad started me in wrestling. Me and my brother played all the time together. So we got started in all that. But it wasnt until I got to high school, I got into more organized wrestling and from there I started running in my junior year of high school. Aside from running with his teammates outside during the week, Sean spends just as much time with his classmates in the classroom. Working his way to an honor he had no idea was coming for him, the Golden Torch award. An award given to a select athlete with the highest GPA on each varsity team. That was pretty interesting. I didnt know I was in the running for it. I actually dont normally check my grades when nal grades are posted because I gure well I did the best I could so whatever it is, it is and ill nd out what my cumulative GPA is when im applying to grad school and stuff like that. So it was fun and exciting since I didnt know it was going to happen.

Its a pretty cool thing for me to see a guy like Sean receive the Golden Torch award. You know I was a walk on as well. I had a roster spot but I was a walk on. I worked my way up and was team captain, made all-SEC three times. So those guys that get to reach full potential mean a lot to me. Academics was important to me in college as well. My father was a chemistry professor. So you know hes a kind of guy thats the same kind of person. So I like to see him work up both academically and athletically. Neither came easy for Sean. He had to work really really hard. Sean validates to the bottom of our roster that you can make it. You can achieve. That does validate the younger guys that they can get there. Paving the path with inspiration for the younger teammates on the roster, Sean continues to place in every meet in which he competes. Finishing from 13th in the Royal XC Challenge to 93rd in the ACC Championship with a 4.0 in the classroom, he proves with perseverance and persistence, nothing is impossible both athletically and academically. LEAD: Being perfect in academics and successful in athletics is every athletes aspiration. It is the athletes that achieve the dream that give hope to everyone else that nothing is impossible. Sean Quinn proves that you can have a 4.0 and a roster spot with hard word and dedication.

TAG: Sean will be returning to earn his masters in applied economics next year here at Florida State and continue to run in his last year of eligibility. Then has plans to attend law school and continue his education at either Notre Dame or Yale. But he plans to always be a Seminole at heart.

BUT WHAT WOULD SEMINOLE MADNESS BE WITHOUT THE 3-POINT CONTEST, A SCRIMMAGE, AND THE FAN-FAVORITE DUNK CONTEST? FINISHING THE NIGHT WITH 2 VICTORIES IN BOTH THE 3-POINT AND DUNK CONTEST, OKARO WHITE COULDNT HAVE MADE HIS TEAMMATES MORE PROUD. You know we were talking earlier saying that one of us gotta win these events. It came down we were last four contestants in the dunk contest, last two contestants in the 3 point contest, he just showed everything tonight, he showed what hes been working hard for its just a little bit of what he can do and give the crowd something to look forward to this season. Seminole Madness was lled with fun and excitement for everyone at the Tucker Center. Between basketball, dancing, and doing the chop, all the players and even Coach Hamilton ended the night with smiles on their faces, pleased with what happened on the court and in the stands. Wed like for everyone to shot like that all night, but I think you see tho that we have the potential to develop, I think we have a lot of guys that play with energy and spirit. We are excited about the relationship that we are establishing with our fans, students, and just people in the community. Its going to energize us and give us something to keep working hard for, to represent them and come home and try to defend our ACC title. It means everything man, it means that our program is going to another level. It means that people realize and recognize what weve been doing over the past couple of years with Coach Ham and you know since we been here and I appreciate it.
