My dear People, Happy New Year to all of you. Thats right. The Christian Year starts on the First Sunday in Advent (not on Jan 1, which is the New Year according to the Roman Calendar). Advent means arrival. For us the word has both historical and prophetic significance. The observance of Advent constitutes a proclamation that Jesus came to our planet at a specific time and place, and also an affirmation that we believe that Jesus is coming back. If He is coming back, we need to be prepared. Getting ourselves new clothes, baking cakes for our consumption, and decorating our homes isnt really for Him. Its all for our selves. What about Him? If you have a Christmas party for relatives and friends would you be able to invite Him to your kind of party? When you gather together will there be any attention paid to His spiritual presence? Jesus Himself said that whats done for the least of people (the poor, the underprivileged, the outsider) is what He will consider as done to Him. For every rupee you spend on yourself, will you match it with a gift to Him? If you channel your gifts through Grace Bible Church (using the special Christmas offering envelopes), you have our promise that no part of it will be used for our church but it will be given to missions and charities that we, as a church, support. Please note that there will be no morning service on Sunday, 9th. The service in the evening will be at La Martiniere Girls School Auditorium. On the 23rd when we have our lunch, the Alipur Village Grace Bible Church members will be our guests and so members need to pay for themselves as well as one guest. The charges this year are: Adults Rs 120 per head School kids 80 per head Under 5s No charge January 1: New Years Day Communion service at 10.00 a.m. Promise cards will be distributed.

Birthdays in December

Cynthia, far away from her family in the US, is rather unwell, though her root canal treatment went well. Poonams brother Rahul is being difficult about taking his medication and is unwell. Roshinis infant great nephew Dan is seriously unwell and needs surgery. Myrtle and Noble travelled to three different places to see all their children and grandchildren. Phillips family travelled safely by road to Nainital District for a wedding in the extended family. Cindy, Ashish, Ethan and Mamta travelled to Bareilly and Banbasa. Vibha and Manish drove to Dehra Dun to spend time with their families. Vibha was unwell after returning. Kanta and Vijay attended a wedding in Benares. En route Vijay was able to share the gospel with a fellow passenger. Shalini, Shibumi and Eesha were able to visit their family and returned safely to the US of A. Suseela travelling to China to spend Christmas with Geetu and Gary. Dorcas, Greg and Yeshaiah going to Delhi and Dehra Dun for some work after Christmas.
