Waiting For That Perfect Moment

The world outside is silent and still. A blanket of snow twinkles under the streetlights. I open the front door to feel the cold on my face. As I take in a deep breath, the icy air catches in my throat. The invigorating shiver that follows fills me with hope and excitement. For a moment everything is right. I am filled with peace and joy. I think, if only I could feel like this forever. We hope for a season filled with perfect moments at Christmastime. But this expectation often puts us at emotional risk. We crave the Hallmark movie moments, but find that life events do not usually have happy endings. The holiday tends to highlight the lows we have experienced over the past year. And when faced with the reality of being lonely, broken, sick, afraid, or whatever, Christmas can quickly spiral into the most depressing time of year. This dark side of Christmas is sad but real. If you have been walking in darkness, depression and disappointment, look to the light of Jesus Christ. Open your bible and seek His brilliant face. He is the joy and peace of Christmas. The perfect moment was Jesus stepping down from heaven into this world for you.

Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church is a place for your entire family. Sunday School classes for all age groups (including adults) Boys Club boys K-6th grade Lamplighters girls K-6th grade Youth Group teens 7th-12th grade Young Adults 18-35 year olds Childrens Church K- 2nd grade (meets during Sunday morning sermon) WMF (Women Ministering in Faith) monthly meetings for all women
