Minto’s latest residential project, the two-tower MintoMidtown in Toronto, is targeted to be the largest
LEED-certified multiresidential development in Canada.

Minto is comprised of a diverse group of enterprises: a
low-rise homebuilding group in Ottawa and the GTA, a
high-rise construction group concentrated in Toronto, a res-
idential rental division, a commercial management group,
a Florida homebuilder and more. Having just won the
OHBA’s 2008 Green Builder of the Year award, Minto iden-
tifies itself and is recognized by others in the industry as a
green builder.   ‘Beautiful’ Work
Additionally, the company manages more than 14,000
residential rental homes and apartments in Ottawa and
Toronto and carries a commercial portfolio of more than 2
million square feet of office, retail and industrial space. In
business since 1955, Minto has built more than 67,000
new homes.
He notes that, in 2006, Minto achieved the first LEED
Canada silver-certified rating for a multiresidential devel-
opment, Minto Radiance, located at the Yonge & Sheppard
neighborhood in Toronto. The following year, Minto suc-
cessfully became the first developer to achieve LEED Canada
gold certification for its all-new rental building, Minto
Roehampton, located at the Yonge & Eglinton neighborhood,
in mid-town Toronto.
With an in-house “Green Team,” Minto is the first builder in
Canada to begin a comprehensive, open and systematic corpo-
rate greening strategy that includes a continuous process
of engaging suppliers, trades, residents, staff and the public to
