What is the Teacher Doing?


Do Now (3-5 minutes): Entrance: -Artists, when we enter the art room we enter at a level zero. - Find your seat quickly and quietly and be at a ready positions so we can begin our day. - Hands are folded, voices are off. -I can see that table 1 is ready their hands are folded, their voices are off. -I am looking for tables and individuals who are showing me they are ready to receive their ticket.

What are the Students Doing?


Entrance:! -Ss come in and sit down at a ready position. ! -Ss voices are off. !

Tickets: -When I see you are at a ready position I will give you your ticket. -Remember, just like athletes need to warm up before a race we as artists need to warm up and stretch our brains creatively. So use this time wisely for your free draws. -Remember if you are someone who is talking during our do first time you are skipped. -I will be looking for all pencils in the basket when I count down. -Pencils in the basket all voices off. -10, all voices off by zero, 9.... 5, all pencils in the baskets, 4..... 0. -I see __ has turned their body to face the board. - __ is listening silently with their hands folded. State Lesson Objective & Lesson Agenda: SWBAT: Construct a penguin collage showing depth. 10 min- Review background and horizon line. 10 min- Demo and set up how to draw their penguins. 25 min- Draw and paint penguin, and do last. 15- Clean up, line up, compliments, star students.

Tickets:! -Ss are sitting silently, hands folded, voices off, eyes on the teacher. ! -When Ss are seated at a level zero with hands folded they will receive their entrance ticket. They will write their name and room number on and front and free draw on the back.

Students will meet the Objectives by:! -Painting a sunset background. ! -Painting a penguin.! -Tearing out icebergs out of white paper and cutting out their penguin. ! -Collage icebergs and penguin onto background.

Materials Out:! -Blank Papers or papers done the previous class will be handed out during the "do first".

-S helpers will help hand out supplies at a level zero. ! -If a helper is talking they loose their job.

Painting: -Paint -I trust __ to be my helper and to out it in the middle. - Paint brushes only on our paints. -Brush -When you get your brush you may begin at a level zero. I will let you know when it is ok to start at a level one. -Table __ is starting their painting at a level 0. -Alright since everybody has their brushes we can start at a level zero.

I Do Input (1-2 Key teaching points): -We talked about a lot of new things last time in art. -Someone tell me what the artist word is for something that's in the back? -Someone else, raise your hand and tell me what the artist word is for the line where the ground and the sky meet. -Last time we met we also read a book about a penguin named Tacky. He was a very special penguin. -Today we will be drawing our penguins together and painting them. -First I need to set up my paper. Semele raise their hand and tell me what my art room address is? -Everyone start putting your name, room number, and table number on your papers. If you finish early you my free draw on the same side as your name. -Am I going to flip my paper over to the other side? -All voices off, crayons in the bins, all eyes on me by zero.-10...0. -First we have to set up our penguins together. -To start my penguin I am going to make a big oval for his tummy. -Let's all draw that together. -When you finish your oval hold is nice and high so I can see! -All papers down eyes back on me by zero. -10...0. -Now we are going to make the head. We are going to connect the head in a special way so I'm going to leave a little space between my big oval and my circle. -Let's all draw that together again. When you are finished hold it nice and high so I can see! -All papers down, eyes on me by zero. -10... 0. -Now I'm going to show you how I connect the head, make his beak, and his feet. -For the head I connect the small circle and the big oval with one line on each side. -Next I draw a little triangle beak. -A penguin also has wings! They have one on each side. -Last I draw two little feet. -Now that I have my penguin drawn I can paint him! -A penguin has a black body with a white tummy. -They also have orange feel and an orange beak. -We are going to draw his little eye on next time.

Lets make sure we are cleaning up quickly and quietly so we can earn our brush and our compliment. -10... 0. -Alright artists.
