VOICE FOR INDEPENDENT TIBET!

Sri Lanka stands for the RIGHTS of all Tibetans! We Sri Lankans have a strong tie with Tibet as a Buddhist nation. We are proud of its rich Buddhist culture. Sri Lanka, for the past 2500 years have been the protector of Buddhist Teaching as bestowed by his Compassionate One. Our country, by way of its Constitution is prepared to protect Buddhism, not only within the country but also outside its territory. Hence, the destructive move taken by the Chinese Government to wipe down Tibetan Buddhism is deplorable. We despise the act of Chinese armed forces and its agents of their bestial act of molesting the Buddhist monks, destroying Buddhist temples and Buddhist scripture. WE DEMAND THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT TO STOP ITS AGGRESSION AGAINST TIBET. The Buddhist teaching of NON-VIOLENCE reject any form of Stealing, Lying, Exploitation, Torture or Destruction as used by the Chinese Government against Tibet and we strongly oppose the thieving done by the Chinese Government which is currently happening in both TIBET and SRI LANKA. China has grabbed Sri Lankan land to build luxury hotels, built theatres to keep the artists passive through soap operatic ideology, have built a port through which the Sri Lankan seaway could be exploited for trade and keep military vigilance over the region, have invested on an airport that could fly Chinese forces to control the South Asian Region as well as the total globe, and have invested on highway construction damaging the eco-system of the Island Sri Lanka, all of which we consider as the GREED of the Chinese to be the master EXPLOITER of all resources in Sri Lanka, Tibet and other parts of the world. This vast exploitation of natural resources is being carried out by the Chinese in the Tibetan Plateau as Tibet is a rich soil with ample natural resources and mainly its rivers supply water to nine countries in South Asia which needs attention of the world. The vast forest land is being cleared for logging purposes by the Chinese businessmen, an act that will have a direct impact on the regional ecology which is already felt by melting glaciers in Tibet. This Chinese crime has contributed towards the Global Warming and SRI LANKA brings this matter to the United Nations to pressurize China to stop its AGGRESSION AGAINST HUMANITY! Sri Lanka is concerned over the escalating numbers of self-immolations taking place inside Tibet which has now risen to 100. This act of burning is due to the harassment and torture

conducted by the Chinese armed forces inside Tibet and we Sri Lankans demand the Chinese Government to stay away from interfering with human lives in Tibet. We demand the Chinese Government to stop Culture Erosion in Tibet as Tibet is rich with folk dances, folk songs, a unique Tibetan language and its script which needs the attention of the world as a World Heritage. Destruction of any of these aspects in the Tibetan life is considered a CRIME. Sri Lanka has all the right to VOICE FOR THE INDEPENDENCE OF TIBET, as in Sri Lankas national struggle against the British Colonial Masters, it was the Tibetan monk S. Mahinda who gave all the strength and impetus for the forward march for INDEPENDENCE with the vigour of his poetry that is still being used and venerated in the Island. We express our GRATITUDE to the Tibetans who were with us during our struggle against the Colonial Masters and now we Sri Lankans extend our Solidarity towards Tibetan brothers and sisters who are now suffering under the yoke of Chinese Neo-Colonial Masters.

WE SRI LANKANS CONSIDER IT OUR DUTY TO URGE THE UNITED NATIONS TO INTERVENE AT THIS MOMENT IN RESOLVING THE CRISIS IN TIBET BY SUPPORTING IT TO REGAIN ITS INDEPENDENCE, SINCE CHINA IS CONTINUOUSLY IN THE PROCESS OF VIOLATING THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF ALL TIBETANS, DEVASTATE THE RICH TIBETAN CULTURE AND EXPLOIT THE TIBETAN PLATEAU CAUSING ECOLOGICAL IMBALANCE IN THE REGION AS WELL AS GLOBALLY!
