1 Introduction
1.1 Scope
This Operational Instruction describes the procedure to activate the feature Connection of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) External Node to Mobile Service Switching Centre (MSC) / Visitor Location Register (VLR) Server. The availability of this feature depends on commercial agreements.

2 Procedure
2.1 Prerequisites
2.1.1 Conditions The following condition must apply before this procedure can be completed: A work order is received.

2.1.2 Data The following data must be known to complete this procedure:

Whether IMSI is to be sent to the USSD External Node or not. USSD External Node Address.

2.1.3 Special Aids No special aids are necessary for this procedure.

2.2 Actions
Define whether International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) is to be sent to USSD External Node or not 1. Is IMSI allowed to be sent to the USSD External Node? Note: See the Work Order. Note: VALUE=0 indicates that IMSI is not to be sent to the USSD External Node. Note: VALUE=1 indicates that IMSI is to be sent to the USSD External Node. Yes Go to Step 2. No Go to Step 3. 2. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 4 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDIMSIINDand VALUE=1. 3. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 4 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDIMSIINDand VALUE=0. Assign NA Part of the USSD External Node Address 4. Does the Nature of Address (NA) to be assigned indicate National Significant Number? Note: See the Work Order. Note: VALUE=1 indicates that NA is International Number.

Note: VALUE=2 indicates that NA is National Significant Number. Yes Go to Step 5. No Go to Step 6. 5. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 7 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDNATADDRand VALUE=2. 6. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 7 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDNATADDRand VALUE=1. Assign Numbering Plan Indicator Part of the USSD External Node Address 7. Does the Numbering Plan Indicator of Address to be assigned indicate Mobile Numbering Plan (ITU-T E.214)? Note: See the Work Order. Yes Go to Step 8. No Go to Step 9. 8. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 12 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDNUMPLINDand VALUE=3. 9. Does the Numbering Plan Indicator of Address to be assigned indicate Land Mobile Numbering Plan (ITU-T E.212)? Note: See the Work Order. Yes Go to Step 10. No Go to Step 11. 10. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change.

Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 12 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDNUMPLINDand VALUE=2. 11. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 12 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDNUMPLINDand VALUE=1 in order to assign the Numbering Plan Indicator of Address indicating Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) / Telephony Numbering Plan (ITU-T E.164). Verify Address Information Part Length of the USSD External Node Address to be Assigned 12. Address Information part of USSD External Node Address to be assigned contains more than 5 digits? Note: See the Work Order. Yes Go to Step 13. No Go to Step 17. 13. Address Information part of USSD External Node Address to be assigned contains more than 8 digits? Note: See the Work Order. Yes Go to Step 14. No Go to Step 17. 14. Address Information part of USSD External Node Address to be assigned contains more than 12 digits? Note: See the Work Order. Yes Go to Step 15. No Go to Step 16. Assign Address Information part of the USSD External Node Address 15. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change.

Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 16 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDAD14T12DGand VALUE=H'xyz where: x = value of digit 14 to be assigned, y = value of digit 13 to be assigned, z = value of digit 12 to be assigned. Note: See the Work Order. Note: Values x, y, and z must be BCD (0-9). 16. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 17 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDAD11T8DGand VALUE=H'xyzw where: x = value of digit 11 to be assigned, y = value of digit 10 to be assigned, z = value of digit 9 to be assigned, w = value of digit 8 to be assigned. Note: See the Work Order. Note: Values x, y, z and w must be BCD (0-9). 17. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction, and return to Step 18 in this Operational Instruction. Note: Use parameters SETNAME=GSMMDSC, NAME=USSDAD7T4DGand VALUE=H'xyzw where: x = value of digit 7 to be assigned, y = value of digit 6 to be assigned, z = value of digit 5 to be assigned, w = value of digit 4 to be assigned. Note: See the Work Order. Note: Values x, y, z and w must be BCD (0-9). 18. Go to Operational Instruction AXE Parameter Value, Change.
