Thus Saturn signifies the knowledge of creation. When coupled with devaguru Brhaspati, it generates fruitful Brahma yoga which grants the fine knowledge of creation and also shows passing down of knowledge from tradition through a Guru (Jupiter) Saturn rules the minerals which are extracted from the earth and hence signify all fuels including coal, petrol, mining of these fuels, minerals and metals. Intelligence & Planets

Intelligence is governed by devaguru Jupiter, who is the karaka for Dhi or the supreme intelligence. There are many kind of intelligence, which is important for sustenance in this material world and with the same reasoning; animals are also intelligent, as they also know, how to keep themselves alive. However, the only difference, between an animal and human

being is the presence of Dhi, or the intelligence for self-development and realization. Who else can govern, such intelligence than the devaguru himself! The strength of Jupiter lies with guiding the Mana (Moon) in the right direction. This is why in the Kalachakra, or the time cycle, Jupiter is placed opposite to the Moon. No, wonder, on Amavasyas and Purnimas, when the mind gets hyper exited; only Jupiter has the power to put rein on such Mind. Thus on full Moon nights, when the Moon (Mind) is highly activated, Satya-Narayan (Jupiter) vrata is done. This is pertinent to mention here is that the knowledge is always within us, as we have the same spark of Atma, which is similar to paramatma, the storehouse of all knowledge. The only difference between a normal mortal and a yogic is that one doesnt know how to access the source and the other knows how to do it. This is why Maharshis could know many things by meditating, through their intuition. The omnipresence and omnipotent characteristics of knowledge (True knowledge- the Vedas) can only be described by the ethereal Jupiter. Jupiter has the extra ordinary power to tap all form of knowledge, comprehensible or incomprehensible. Among he supporters of Jupiter, Moon is the most important as he is who exalts the Jupiter. Thus, Moon aids in the manifestation of Jupiter or Dhi, and represent the Mana or consciousness. A strong Mana can only be productive, when it is under the proper guidance of supreme intellect signified by Devaguru Brhaspati. Sun is the storehouse of all energy as it is the natural significator of the Atma. As discussed above, Atma contains all knowledge, it require only a good Mana and Dhi to access it. This is the source of light, which the Moon (Mana) reflects. Thus an unaffiliated and strong Sun is prerequisite for a native to be a expert in multiple disciplines. As Sunlight contains all colours of light, the ray of light, which a native accesses from Sun, is dependent on the influences on the Sun. This is why the Sun represents the knowledge of Gita, which is a philosophy, which encompasses all form of knowledge and hence has all the colours. Mars signify the ability to break down a complex problem into smaller part and analyze each of them to have a comprehensive understanding of the whole problem and get the solution. As opposed to Jupiter, it doesnt use intuition, but logical reasoning for solving problem. Mercury is the planet of skills and signifies the ability to use Language in communication. Strong Mercury shows good communication skills. On one hand, where Jupiter signifies knowledge and wisdom, Mercury signify formal education, i.e., application of intelligence in solving practical problems. This also signifies the learning ability as Mercury represents a child who can be trained in various things. All depends on who is training the child; the child will learn the things indicated by the teacher. If Jupiter is teaching him, no doubt the native becomes knowledgeable and if Moon is the teacher, he becomes passionate, concurring with the trait of Moon. Who is teaching Merc, is learnt from which planet is placed in the trine to it.

Venus is a great tapasvi, and he rules the desire, which goads us to learn. Thus whenever Venus is associated with Saturn (hard work and patience) and Ketu (Mokshakaraka), the native becomes a Tapasvi (someone who undertakes severe austerity and penances to attain siddhi). As opposed to Jupiter, who rules para vidya (knowledge which is used irrespective of whether we are born or not), Venus rules apara vidya (knowledge which is used in this mortal world). Thus Venus signify practical strategies, which help in solving real life problems. Saturn debilitates Jupiter and hence signifies loss of Memory among other significations. Saturn detaches ones consciousness or the Mana from accessing the source of knowledge as opposed to Jupiter, which connects the Mana to it. For that matter Saturn is a bitter enemy of the naisargika Atmakaraka, Sun and hence any studies done during Sani Kala is prone to forgetfulness. One should check out, saturns influence on the Lagna or the Paka Lagna to understand, how Saturn is playing mischief in making the person forgetting things. If Jupiter is placed with a strong Saturn, then also the person might suffer failure of memory, as with mere association, Saturn can cause debilitation of Jupiter. Rahu eclipses Sun and is a bitter enemy of Jupiter. Rahu has a natural tendency to eclipse Sun and hide the effulgence of Sun is extreme darkness. This is no wonder that in Rahu-Kala, not only gathering knowledge is next to impossible; but also one is tend to make wrong decisions (shown by the enmity towards dhi karaka Jupiter)

Triggering of Planets
The planets affect our life in various ways and such effects can be seen each moment in our life and they donot only need their dasa to be functional to give their results. However, most of us are only limited to various dasas, which shows predominant activities at any point of time. And because everything in the world work with a basic theme, all the dasas which we use can show similar indications of an event and this is what I call synchronicity. This is why we must not stick ourselves only to one or two dasas and try to understand, what way different planets affect us in different ways each moment. To understand this, lets take some illustrations from our lives. In many cases we see that birth of a child causes prosperity in the house, enhancement of income, promotion in job and such things. Now how do we relate to the enhancement of the family and career with birth of a child. This can be understood from the fact that progeny is ruled by Jupiter and birth of a child triggers all such yogas associated with Jupiter. Lets say for someone, Jupiter is placed with GL in 5th from Dasamsa Lagna, it is placed in the 11th from AL. This shows why if something triggers Jupiter, such benefic things happen in life. Thus we realise different planets can be triggered by some or other events in life. Similarly if

Venus is well placed, you can see the good results after marriage as this triggers Venus. Now this knowledge can help an astrologer to use Jyotish for all practical purposes. Now if a horoscope is suffering due to sarpa yoga (Kendras occupied by Malefics, not in own sign or exaltation) and Jupiter is placed in the Lagna, then if such person studies sriptures (ruled by Jupiter) or stays with his grandfather (Jupiter) etc. the sarpa yoga shall break and the native's life shall become free from struggles. Jupiter's benevolence can also be triggered if the person takes Jupiterian activity such as Jyotish, Advisorship, Judge etc. or eat Jupiterian food such as fresh fruits etc. Also, there is no doubt, that such Jupiter can be activated, if the person goes to shrines ruled by Jupiter, such as that of Sadashiva or Mahavishnu or Jesus Christ or Holy Ghost. Now if a person is having some yogas with Sun and other planets, such yogas can be triggered if the person goes to temples and religious places, ruled by Sun, or work with his father or such activities. Hence, to undestand, which planet is affecting a person in what way, the Jyotish is required to be watchful of all the happening in the surroundings of the native. If the native comes with a horoscope, to see which planet is causing trouble, one can very well be watchful of the surroundings to see the nimittas (Omens) and can know which planet is triggered at that moment. If a Jyotishi is watchful of such things, he can very well understand, how the different planets is behaving in his life. This can bring more understanding of effect of planets in our life and help us in zeroing down to practical remedies.

So now you know which food affect you in which way ___
ODD and EVEN Footed Signs (Ajit Krishnan)
The Vamana Gayatri starts with trinipada vichakrame and shows the importance of the 3fold divisions in Hinduism. The vamana avatar scaled all of existence with 3 steps. The fundamental trinity is represented by Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The world consists of the bhu, buvah and svarga lokas. It is the goal of every Jyotisha to be able to see the past, present and future. This three-fold division is the very essence of Hindu Dharma. Hence, from the starting sign (Aries) and the starting nakshatra (Krittika), every set of 3 signs/nakshatras are labeled odd-footed and even-footed respectively. Just as the sex of signs was used in matters relating to the human body, the footedness of signs applies in manners which deal with dharma. For example, Narayana dasa deals with the environment in which we find ourselves, and this is

a reflection of our previous karma. This falls under the purview of dharma. When determining dasa lengths, the footedness of signs plays a critical role.

The Singnificance of Male and Female signs in Zodiac (Ajit Krishnan)

The twelve signs of the zodiac have been characterized as male and female signs commencing from Aries. Due to the vasanas which are attached to our mind, and due to the attachment that our mind has formed with our current body, we are born in this world. The soul cannot be characterized as either male or female, since it is beyond such distinctions. The fleeting mind continuously runs between male and female emotions from minute to minute. It is only the physical body which can be characterized as either male or female. Hence, the sex of signs should be used with matters dealing with the physical body. It is due to the union of purusha and prakriti (or Shiva and Shakti) that creation takes place. Both of these are aspects of the same Brahman. Just as we cannot define light without darkness, or the future without the past, we cannot define one without the other. They are mirror images of one another. In a regular wall clock, the numbers 1 to 12 increase in the clockwise direction, and the clock hands move in that direction. In a mirror image of this clock, the numbers 1 to 12 would increase in the anti-clockwise direction, and the hands would move in this reverse direction. The past and future are images of each other (our current karma is a reflection of our past actions). The younger brother (future) is the 3rd house from lagna counting in the zodiacal direction. The older brother (past) is the 3rd house from lagna counting in the anti-zodiacal direction. Let us replace the numbers 1 to 12 in the clock described above with the zodiacal signs from Aries to Pisces. Matters dealing with male signs would be reckoned in the zodiacal direction, while matters dealing with female signs would be reckoned in the anti-zodiacal direction. Please note that male and female signs are also known as odd and even signs respectively. We see co-borns and children from the Drekkana and Saptamsa divisional charts. In both cases, we are dealing with physical bodies, and the principle described above applies. Younger co-borns are seen from the 3rd house in D-3. When lagna falls in a male sign, this is reckoned in the zodiacal direction. When it falls in a female sign, it is reckoned in the anti-zodiacal direction. Similarly, the first child is seen from the 5th house in D-7. Once again, the direction depends on the sex of the sign in which lagna falls.
