Air pressure. Wild Water Planet, one of the several amusement theme planets in the Play Solar System. The Theoryites are traveling to the surface of the planet.

Location:

Wild Water Planet. Multiple water slides, large siphon tubes with swimmers inside, tsunami waves, and clear water tanks above the surface of water. jumping off a high dive. Frogeye is Theoryites are next to a

demonstration table with an audience of aliens watching.

Caption:

The closer we travel to the surface of a planet, the greater is the squeezing (pressure) of the air around us. This squeezing air pressure pushes everywhere.

Theoryites: En.

Experimentation/Presentation:
En fills a cup with water. EN To show that air pushes everywhere, we need a disposable cup, index card, and water. En whispers to the side. EN Secretly, put a hole at the bottom of the cup and hold your finger on it till later. En places the index card on top of the cup and holds it. En inverts the cup and holds the card in place, over Mats head. EN Fill the cup full of water. Place the index card on top of the glass of water. While holding the card on the cup, turn the cup over. En lets go of the card. Little arrows to represent force are pushing in all directions. EN The card stays in place because the force of air pushes everywhere. Also, when the water starts to fall, there is this suction force inside. This force (air pressure) that helps hold the water inside is the same as sucking on a straw.

En then releases his finger from the bottom of the cup and water sprays onto Mat. EN Now let go and run! everywhere! Air pushes

Bowels a moving. The Eagle-ship transforms into micro-morph mode and approaches Fiz.

Location: Caption:

The ship enters Fizs mouth. Keep your bowels a moving right, by eating healthy day and night. Normally, the Gastrointestinal (GI) tract digests food for the body to use. When the bowel movements are slowed down, hard, and difficult to pass, this is called constipation. When intestines are not working right and the bowels are moving fast and runny like water then this is called diarrhea.

Theoryite:

Dna

Experimentation/Presentation: DNA Let us begin our travels with the oral cavity where food enters the esophagus and is now called a bolus. The food travels into the stomach, then to the small intestines and then large intestines where valuable life support nutrition is absorbed. When this bolus leaves the body it is called a bowel movement (BM).
CONSTIPATION: Do not get constipation, that rock hard sensation, when you cant let go number two. Let me tell you dear friend, it will hurt your rear end, when the toilet makes friends with you. The body was made, to eat healthy every day, with fruits, vegetables, and water. These are the best of foods, to change your bowel moods, from rock hard to smooth as butter. If your bowels are in turmoil, then enemas, fiber, and oil, from the drugstore to the commode. If it doesnt come on out, youre in fear and start to doubt, rest assured, you will not explode.

If you barf or dont have gas, and the BM does not pass, and the belly pain gets severe (or: and still have pain in the gutt). Then the doc you must phone, to let him hear you moan, and get that BM out the rear (or: and get that BM out the butt).

DIARRHEA: It's your body's way, to say I'm not OK. With BMs that are runny, and not so very funny. And soon you will learn, about the stuff that burns Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Feel the stomach churning, its slipping out and burning. Out the bathroom door, racing back for more. Let go just a little gas, too late, you feel it pass Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. In food and water growing, without you even knowing, parasites or virus acting bad, making your bowels very mad, or bad BAC-teria in your gut, shooting poop out the butt (For the sensitive folksbad BAC-teria infection within, shooting poop out the other end) Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Like Salmonella in nuts and eggs, runny diarrhea down the legs. Or E. Coli in water or food, the diarrhea could get rude. Rotavirus by the fecal-oral route, water squirts blasting out Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea.

DIARRHEA continued: Parasites are small bugs or worms, living inside the stomach squirms. Laying eggs and making a home, you the host no longer alone. There is treatment to evict them, better yet, dont let them in. Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Keep your food hot or cold, To fight BAC, bugs, and the mold; 20 seconds to wash your hands, also cutting boards, pots, and pans. Soap with water you forget, guess what you might get? Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Separate uncooked fish and meat, from other food you eat. To keep this food infection free, cook one hundred sixty degrees. You know its safe to take a bite, when the food was cooked right. Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Lots of liquids for a day, to help the runs go away. Then gelatin and soup, to slow down the poop The junk food's got to stop, fried, fast, and soda pop. Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea.

10

DIARRHEA continued: If youre feeling weak and tired, perhaps a doctor should be hired. Vomiting, cramps, fever, and chills, being very sick you may need pills. So to a doc you must go, because he will know Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. When done with the runs, and you know you won; then clean, separate, cook, and chill, to keep from getting ill. And its time to get off the pot, and be happy you don't got Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea. Diarrhea, uh-oh, no-no, diarrhea.

Carbon dioxide. Gaseous planet. Chemistry lab. Frogeye is swimming inside a large beaker. Atoms are tiny little building blocks that all things are made of. With the help of the Atoms Family (Periodic Elements) we see oxygen and carbon dioxide. As humans, we breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide. Lets make carbon dioxide by mixing chemicals.

Theoryite:

Kim

12

Experimentation/Presentation:
Dna the needed materials. DNA To make carbon dioxide we need a plastic cup that has a small enough opening that you can cover it with your hand, vinegar, baking soda, goggles, and adult supervision. Dna pours vinegar into the bottle and finishes the experiment as follows. Frogeye puts on three eyed goggles. DNA Put on your goggles. Pour about half cup of vinegar into the bottle. Now pour some of the baking into the vinegar. Notice the gas bubble from mixing the baking soda (base) and the vinegar (acid). Try to hold your hand over the top to feel the pressure of the gas created.

Day and night in the light. Passing by the Sun to Earth. Orbiting Earth with the Sun in the background. It takes one day for the Earth to rotate (turn) one time around. In one year the Earth orbits (travels around) the Sun.

Theoryite: Mat

14

Experimentation/Presentation:
Mat is in the jet car with the Earth in the background. He points to the needed objects that are afloat in space. Kim looks through one window and Frogeye looks through the other. Both are wearing space helmets. MAT With a ball and a flashlight we can show daytime and nighttime on earth. Mat points to the ball as he shines the flashlight on it. MAT Lets pretend that the ball is the world and the flashlight is the sun. Shine the sunlight onto the world. Daytime is in the light and nighttime is the shade. In one day (24 hours) the Earth rotates 360 degrees (one time around) giving us day and night. Mat places the aluminum foil over the flashlight and then punches holes in the foil. MAT Now with aluminum foil, a toothpick, and the flashlight we will show how Earth orbits around the Sun. Fold the foil over the flashlight. With the toothpick, poke a hole in the center for the Sun and nine more holes around for Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

15

Mat shines the light on the ceiling. Planets are displayed with size, distance, gravity, light speed travel from the Sun. MAT In a dark room, shine the light onto the ceiling. Now rotate the flashlight. This shows how the planets orbit around the Sun. The Earth orbits the Sun in one year (365 days).

E Title:
Electrical Safety.

Travel: Electron planet with electrical sparking fields for rings (like Saturn). Location: Caption:
Inspecting homes. With the help of the Atoms Family we can see that atoms are made of protons and neutrons with these little electrons orbiting around. Lets observe how electricity is made from moving electrons. Sometimes atoms lose an electron - they just jump off one atom and on to the next. When this electron jumps over into another atoms orbit then that atom picks up a negative charge. Electrons can flow from atom to atom like water in a pipe. This is called current. If that current were to flow through ones body it could cause serious injury like burns, irregular heartbeats, problems with breathing, and possible transport into the next dimension (death). Electricity is very useful, if you keep this POWER safety in mind.

P - Power lines and Poles: *Stay clear of damaged power lines that are down such as after a storm or tornado. Be careful of metal fences or cars that could be touching these power lines. *Make sure no kites, tree houses, antennas, balloons, or kites are around power lines. O - Outlets: *Make sure an outlet has only a few plug-ins. *Have broken outlet covers fixed. *Check for loose fitting plugs because they could get hot and catch on fire. *When children are around, use plastic safety covers on electrical outlets. W - Water danger: *Make sure there is no electrical equipment, gadgets, or cords around water. *Check that there are GFCI outlets around water or outside outlets. *Do not use electrical equipment, gadgets, or cords outside when it is wet. E - Electrical Equipment, gadgets, and cords: *If a gadget blows a fuse, trips the breaker, smokes, smells, or sparks, un-plug it. *Pull the plug, not the cord. *If equipment is not being used, un-plug it. *Always wear shoes when using electrical equipment. *Trash electrical cords that have cracks or bare wire showing. Also, cords do not like to be shoved under carpets, walked on, or dangling around where a child could grab them. If not using it, un-plug it.

18

R - Rescue: *Have emergency numbers available in case someone is electrocuted. *Assure all those that are old enough to learn CPR, know it well. *Let a professional rescue someone who is still in an electrically dangerous area.

Friction restriction. Alien drag race track with ship-racers. They are at the race mechanics table with the needed items. KIM reduces in size with micro-morpher.

Caption:

With micro-morph technology we can shrink to the atomic level to observe the force of friction - a push or pull in the other direction. We can see that up close the surfaces of this eraser and aluminum foil are not very smooth. Now let the experiment begin, with the force of friction.

Theoryite:

KIM

20

Experimentation/Presentation:
Several aliens surround Fiz as he shows the materials. The aluminum foil is on top of the table. KIM remains at the microscopic level. KIM With aluminum foil, pencil eraser, and engine oil we can experiment with friction. Fiz follows Kims instructions as he talks through his walkie-talkie watch. Fiz tries to slide the balloon. KIM Fiz, try to slide the eraser on the foil. Observe how the atoms are kind of glued together. The force of friction makes the eraser hard to slide. We have to snap apart the atoms to get them moving. Friction tries to keep things from moving. Fiz pours oil on the paper as KIM slides the eraser in it. KIM Now pour oil on the foil and slide the eraser. It is easier to slide now on the oily surface. The oil takes away some of the force of friction. This makes it easier to slide. The engine in a car uses motor oil. It is important to check the oil level of the engine. If there is no oil for the engine it gets hot from friction (just like rubbing your hands together with out oil).

Gravity with Galileo. Time-warper has been activated to travel back in time to planet Earth in the 1600. They head to Europe to a restaurant at Pisa.

Location:

The kids are outside of a restaurant, which is in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Frogeye is wearing his beret and is having dinner with a beautiful Italian frogette. Galileo (Earth: 1564-1642) is with the Theoryites.

Caption:

Velocity is speed with a direction, like a spaceship traveling the speed limit straight down a path. It is not going faster or slowing down, just traveling the same speed in the same direction. Acceleration takes place when the ship is going faster. De-acceleration happens when it is slowing down. Gravity is acceleration that holds us down to our planet. When we drop something, it falls faster and faster. This acceleration of gravity is the same on everything that falls.

Theoryite:

Fiz

22

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz prepares the needed items. Fiz places the balls at the edge of a tall shelf. The blocks are shown falling. FIZ We need a tennis ball, baseball, and a ruler to experiment with gravity. Note that the baseball is heavier than the tennis ball. Place the balls side by side at the edge of table or shelf. Roll them off together with the ruler. Gravity causes both balls to fall faster and faster together! The balls have just landed. FIZ The balls land at the same time. When something travels faster and faster it is accelerating. Gravity is acceleration. This acceleration is the same on both the heavy and the light balls. Heavy or light they will fall faster and faster together, unless air friction comes to play. It seems like the heavy object that has more weight (force of gravity) will fall faster. But it does not, because it has more mass (inertia) that makes it harder to move (fall), it wants to stay at rest. Long story short, all objects fall with the same acceleration, no matter the mass.

Inertia - resting or going. Landing on a green country road. The Kids are in the Spacevan, which is going down a road and stopping suddenly for a deer in the road. They are held into their seats by their seat belts with shoulder harnesses.

Caption:

Inertia is Sir Isaac Newtons (Earth: 1642 to 1727) first law of motion. Inertia occurs when something wants to stay at rest or keep on going in a straight path. When a car or spaceship stops fast, the Inertia belt (seat belt) keeps you from going and going on. SAFE KIDS: Always wear your seat belts!!

Theoryite:

Fiz

26

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz is out of the jet car and is holding a water pitcher and a baseball. A deer is in the background watching with Frogeye perched in his antlers. FIZ To experiment with inertia we need a pitcher and a baseball. Fiz has put the baseball in the pitcher and is holding it horizontally. FIZ Place the ball at rest in the pitcher and place the pitcher sideways. Fiz is stopping from a run. The ball moves forward in the air. FIZ Run with the pitcher and then stop. The ball keeps on moving. Fiz holds the pitcher. The ball is on the ground. FIZ It is called inertia when things like to stay at rest or keep going and going and going. -This is Newtons first law. -Newtons second law is F=ma. Force is equal to mass times acceleration. Force is a push or pull. -Newtons third law is action re-action. For every action there is an opposite and equal re-action. I push on the wall, the wall pushes back.

Jet-speed Landing at a space age airport. The Kids are parked with their Spacevan near an airport. Frogeye is on top of Kims hat observing the jet plane through his binoculars.

Caption:

Thrust from the jet engines pushes the airplane forward, causing the air to flow over the wings thus lifting the plane in the air. Our spaceship travels at the speed of light, which is 300,000 kilometers per second (186,000 miles per second). Some jets travel in the air at the speed of sound. This is 343 meters per seconds (1,130 feet per second) depending on the temperature. An aircraft flying at the speed of sound is flying at Mach 1. Mach 2 is twice the speed of sound. When a jet flies by it leaves a shock wave behind it called a sonic boom. This boom is heard after the jet has past by because the sound is not traveling as fast as the jet.

Theoryite:

Mat

28

Experimentation/Presentation:
Mat continues. MAT Knowing the speed of sound, let us measure how far away lightning hit the ground. The sound of thunder travels at 1,130 feet every second (343 meters every second). Every 5 seconds sound travels the distance of about one mile. The next time you see lightening, start counting the number of seconds before you hear the thunder. For example you see the lightening flash and it takes 10 seconds to hear the sound. Then the lightning hit the ground about 2 miles away.

Kinetic energy Galactic Games planet. The Kids are in the bleachers watching a football game with alien players.

Caption:

When you work to throw a ball, a force (push) that is on the ball over a distance gives it potential energy. When the ball is traveling through the air, this potential energy stored up in the ball is now called kinetic energy (moving energy). (The football being thrown, by the alien, changes its image as it leaves the hand turning from a potential to a kinetic ball.)

Theoryite:

En

30

Experimentation/Presentation:
En prepares the fishing pole by tapping a rubber ball on the end of the line. EN To study kinetic energy we require a fishing pole and a rubber ball. Tape the fishing line to the ring on the can. En casts the ball over a limb of a tree. EN Next cast the ball over a tree limb. Make sure there are no power lines near by. Power lines have high voltage (electricity) traveling through them and could be very, very, very dangerous stay away! Reel up the ball to the top. At this point, you have stored potential energy in the ball. To release this potential energy into kinetic energy, push the casting button and let it drop. As the ball is falling, it now has kinetic energy. Kinetic energy is a moving energy.

Light is full of color. Rainbow planet. The Theoryites are on a patio after a storm, with a canyon in the background. There is a double rainbow. Frogeye has a prism in his hand directing the colors onto the side of the house.

Caption:

When we bend white light, we can see all the colors of the rainbow.

Theoryite:

Fiz

32

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz shows the materials in an outside setting. FIZ To see the colors of the rainbow we need a box, a clear glass of water, and a white piece of paper. Fiz places a clear glass at the shaded edge on top of the box. FIZ Place the box outside in the sun. Put the paper on the ground in the shade of the box. Place the glass of water at the shaded edge on top of the box. Colors are seen on the white paper on the ground. FIZ As the sunlight passes through the glass of water it bends downward onto the paper. When sunlight bends, it spreads open with colors. The bending of light is like breaking a stick open to see what is inside.

Melanoma and the ABCDs of Skin Cancer. Two star system. Theoryites are on a beach with Frogeye putting on his sun block.

Caption:

Check your skin, and your familys and friends skin for the signs of skin cancer.

Theoryite:

Dna

34

Experimentation/Presentation:
Dna is presenting the ABCDs. DNA The most dangerous skin disease is Melanoma and it is cancer, If there is a skin spot, a growth, or mole then get the answer. We need to know if it should be taken off and is of concern, And what kind of skin growth it is, this we must learn. If there is a skin spot, a growth, or mole on the skin, check it with the ABCDs and this is how it begins. A is for Asymmetry. One side of the skin mole is not the same as the other, If this is so, this uneven look, it could be a bother, To the provider you must go, to let em know. B is for the Border. Look to see if the border around the mole is crooked, Is it irregular, rough, notched, or jagged, To the provider you must go, to let em know. C is for Color. If the mole is dark or changed in colors this is not right, Like mixtures of black, pink, blue, gray, or white, To the provider you must go, to let em know. D is for Diameter. If one side to the other is more than 5 millimeters in size, Or it is growing larger, spreading, or starts to rise, To the provider you must go, to let em know. Your provider will let you know if it is of concern, And what kind of skin growth it is, you will learn.

35

Dna is at the beach showing a person with a skin lesion. This person must have that mole checked by a medical professional to determine if it is Melanoma or some other skin disease. Always wear protective clothing (hat, shirt...) and sun block to protect your skin from the sunlight that can cause skin cancer. Do not tan your hide, your natural color is beautiful because it is you!

North pole. Space orbiting the Earth. North pole. The geographic North Pole of the Earth is the South Pole of a magnet. Kim

37

Experimentation/Presentation:
Kim has the needed items of a paper clip, thread, and magnet. KIM To make a compass, stroke the paper clip with a magnet. This makes the atoms in the clip face in the same direction turning it into a magnet. Next tie the thread to the middle of the clip to balance it. Take note which way is North and mark that end of the paper clip with whiteout. The North end of your compass is attracted to the magnetic South Pole of the Earth. We call this the geographic North Pole. So what we call the North Pole is the South Pole of a magnet a real big magnet called Earth.

O2 for you. Molecular level observing the elements. Multiple locations from atomic and up. We must keep our planet environmentally happy. Kim

39

Experimentation/Presentation:
O2 FOR YOU Oxygen, carbon, hydrogen too all come together for me and you. We breath in oxygen for our bodies to burn, the oxygen is absorbed and carbon dioxide returns. Out to the air where the plants come to play turning the carbon dioxide into oxygen during the day. This photosynthesis takes place in the ocean and leaves, Supplying us with oxygen so we may breath. Oxygen and two hydrogens attract together and bond Forming water in the oceans, lakes, and ponds. We drink water in all sorts of solutions, Healthy for our bodies, unless poisoned with pollution. This pollution comes in so many ways, If were not careful it will shorten our days. By destroying our water with chemicals that are toxic, And removing oxygen from the air, making us hypoxic. Oxygen, carbon, hydrogen too, All come together for me and you. We must keep our air and water clean, Also our cities and forest so green. Be active in recycling plans, for plastic, paper, and aluminum cans.

Pressure in a cup. Through the ocean. (See the Pictures at the end of this manuscript.)

Location:

The Kids are in a submarine. En and Frogeye are outside with scuba gear.

Caption:

Water pressure increases (squeezes more) as we go deeper and deeper. Just as we travel to the surface of the Earth from space. The air pressure gets more and more just like the water pressure. These water molecules are piled up on top of each other just like a big pile of sand. The bigger the pile, the more building blocks, the greater the pressure.

Theoryite: Fiz

41

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz shows the materials in the submarine. En is outside looking through the window with Frogeye. FIZ With a disposable cup, toothpick, and water we can experiment with water pressure. Fiz punches the holes in the cup. FIZ Use the toothpick to punch a hole in the middle and near the bottom of the cup. Fiz pours water into the cup and the water comes out of the holes. FIZ Now, hold the cup over a sink and pour water into the cup. The water shoots out more from the bottom hole. The squeezing water pressure is more on the bottom of the cup than at the middle.

Quiet-tube Book planet. The Kids are in a library which has a large QUIET sign. Mat is motioning to En to be quiet. Lines representing sound waves come from Ens mouth. Frogeye is reading Frog Digest with his headphones on.

Caption:

We hear sounds (vibrations) when air moves quickly back and forth. These vibrations can be softer if we quiet them down with a quiet-tube.

Theoryite:

Dna

43

Experimentation/Presentation:
Dna is at a library table with supplies. En talks through the tube. Sound waves in the air are shown by vibrating lines. In the background the other Kids have their fingers to their lips to motion shhh. Kim is stuffing the tissue paper inside the tube. En is still talking. Fewer lines are used to show decreased intensity of sound waves. DNA With a paper tube and tissue paper we can make a quiet-tube. Talk inside the paper tube. Pack several tissues inside the tube while talking. The tissue paper slows down the vibrations from your voice. This is why it is quieter. Vibrations in the air travel through the canal of the outer ear to move the ear drum back and forth. This moves the bones in the middle ear called the Malleus, Incus, and the Stapes. The Stapes is next to the oval window where the sound waves vibrate to the inner ear. cochlea. In the cochlea are these hair cells that feel the vibrations, and transform these vibrations into electrical messages. These messages go through the Cochlear Nerve ending up in the cerebral cortex of the brain for one to hear. In the inner ear is the

44

Dna is expressing the concern to protect ones ears with ear protection. DNA Stay away from loud noises like firearms, concerts, or machinery, unless you have earplugs or muffs on to protect your ears. If special protection is not handy, make some by just rolling up tissue paper and placing it in your ear canal. Loud noise can damage the cochlea and cause ringing in your ears for the rest of your life - not good.

Reflexing the Deep Tendons. Space station clinic. Examining room with a large model of the spinal cord and muscles.

Caption:

The reflex exam checks the nerves from your muscles to your spinal cord and back. When the tendon is tapped, the muscle feels it and the nerve in the muscle sends this electrical message to the spinal cord that sends a message back to the muscle to move (jerk).

Theoryite: Dna

46

Experimentation/Presentation:
Dna has the needed items and performs the exam on an alien. The anatomical structures are pointed out. DNA With a reflex hammer or large wooden spoon let us check the reflexes. Tap the biceps, patella, and the Achilles tendon to check that the nerves are sending messages to and from the muscles correctly. Look for the reflexes to be even on both sides and smooth flowing. Some times the reflexes do not jerk the muscle. This may be from not hitting it right or the nerve may have problems. This is called checking the Deep Tendon Reflexs.

Throat infections. Integrated alien school. The Theoryites and Frogeye are at the nurses office. Throat infections can be caused by bacteria, viruses, dryness in the air, being around cigarettes, air pollution, allergies that cause drainage down the throat, or yelling. If you have Strep throat infection (bacteria) then off to the doctor you go.

Theoryite:

Dna

50

Experimentation/Presentation:
Dna is swabbing the throat of an alien that has a huge mouth. Illustrations of the symptoms follow the dialog. Dna reduces one of the Eyecam A in size with micro-morph technology to show the bug wars. DNA Strep throat is a sore throat that is being attacked by these little bacteria bugs called streptococcus. here with Eyecam A. This infection can cause a fever, yellow coating on the tonsils, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck. One could also have body aches, headaches, and stomach aches. If the skin gets these little red spots and feels like sandpaper and or a strawberry looking tongue shows up, then this is called Scarlet Fever. Get to your doctor ASAP (As Soon As Possible). If one is not treated with antibiotics to stop this bacteria infection, he or she could get rheumatic fever. This disease can hurt the heart, kidneys, and joints. If one has a sore throat and also a cough or runny nose then it is likely a virus is causing the infection. Antibiotics will not help. In fact, if antibiotics are not taken correctly (as instructed) or are used for infections caused by viruses then these bugs can become resistant they cannot be killed by some antibiotics. See them

51

Dna is showing the bugs in a class room getting instructions from grandpa bug. DNA These smart bugs kind of learn how to fight off the antibiotics. Then the bug wars begin with the bugs getting so smart that the bigger guns (antibiotics) cant fight off the stronger and smarter bugs. Not good.

Universe of galaxies. Hyper-space travel to the edge of the Universe. The Kids are on a moon in a space ship overlooking several galaxies. One is looking through a sextant at the stars. Another is looking through a reflector telescope with Frogeye on top with his telescope. The Milky Way star cluster is seen, and then magnified to conceptualize the size and location of the Sun Solar System.

Fiz

53

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz spaces the marbles around a circle. FIZ With about twenty marbles we can show how stars that are far apart from each other look close together. Place each marble about one finger width apart in a circle. Fiz walks back twenty steps, then travels farther back. We see the marbles from his view, so they look very close together. FIZ Back away twenty steps and look at the marbles. Notice that the marbles start to look closer together. Back away ten more steps. The marbles, like stars, look closer together the farther away you are. The Sun is planet Earths star. Many other stars make solar systems and they all join together to make one big happy family called the Milky Way Galaxy. All the star families (galaxies) in space are called the universe. Light from the Sun takes 8.3 minutes to get to planet Earth. For light to travel from Earth to Pluto it take about four hours. After four years and four months light will arrive at Alpha Centauri, Earths closest star neighbor. It takes light 100,000 years to travel from one side of our galaxy to the other.

Vacuum. To a planet that has a moon. All are in their space suits on the surface of the moon. Frogeye is jumping higher than ever.

Caption:

In space there is no air. This is called a vacuum. When there is no air then there are no air vibrations in space no sound.

Theoryite:

Fiz

55

Experimentation/Presentation:
Fiz prepares the needed items. FIZ Next time you are in a vacuum, like a on a moon with no atmosphere (air), experiment with free fall. This means an object is free to fall without air friction. Air friction is a force in the other direction. Get a block of wood and a piece of paper. Crumble up the paper into a ball. Drop both of them at the same time. Notice when there is no air they land together. This is because the paper and the block continue to fall faster and faster together. All objects fall with the same acceleration. When you are back in your spaceship or planet (with air) experiment again. Drop the same block and paper ball. Now the paper ball slows down, it stops accelerating, it stops falling faster and faster. This is from the air pushing on it. In space there is no air, and if there is no air there is no motion of air like vibrating air. Remember the Quite Tube experiment showing the vibrating sound waves. When there is no air then sound can not travel through space. Next time you watch a space movie with explosion sounds you will know that there are no sounds that can travel in space.

Water pop-cycle. Ice world. North Pole with polar type aliens. When water cools below 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius it transforms from a liquid to a solid. Let us make a pop-cycle.

Theoryite:

Kim

Experimentation/Presentation:
Kim displays the needed items. KIM With a cup, juice, and a spoon lets make a pop-cycle. Mix one-half fruit juice with the other half water into the cup. Place the spoon inside the cup. Leave it in the freezer for several hours. The water and the juice freeze and become a solid. It is important to drink several glasses of water a day. You will know if there is enough water in your system if your urine is clear.

The XYZ-axis is used to measure in the three dimensions. The first dimension is the X-axis or a straight line. A two dimensional world is a flat surface made from the X-axis and the Y-axis attached together. When we add the Zaxis we have a three dimensional world of volume. The fourth dimension is time.

Theoryite:

Mat

59

Experimentation/Presentation:
Mat shows all the needed materials and draws in the x-axis on top of a picnic table. MAT With sheets of paper, string, a ruler, a big eraser, and toy block we can make a z-axis catapult. Draw two number lines starting at one corner of the paper. Mark the numbers off in decimeters. Label one the x-axis and the other the yaxis. Mat lifts the string and ties it onto a tree limb. MAT Tie the string to a tree limb. Make another number line up the tree by taping numbers to the string. Label this line the z-axis. Mat sets up the catapult. He points to the position. MAT Find where X is 3 and Y is 2 to set up your catapult. block. Place the eraser at the end of the ruler that is on top of the

60

The eraser is in the air and there are dashed lines to the numbers which Mat calls as he points out the location. MAT After hitting the other end of the ruler notice how high in the air the eraser travels. This measurement up in the air is the Z-axis. Here, Z is equal to four decimeters.

Yaw, pitch, and roll. Aerodynamic planet. Aerospace engineering department. A spaceship has three controls to move the ship about the three axis called the yaw, pitch, and roll. These controls help it fly in three-dimensional space.

Theoryite:

En

62

Experimentation/Presentation:
En shows an airplane and explains. EN Yaw: The rudder is controlled by the foot pedals. It makes the ship yaw (swivel). Pushing the right pedal causes yawing to the right and pushing the left pedal to the left. Pitch: The elevators are controlled by the column or stick. When pushed forward the nose of the ship points down and when pulling back the nose points up. This helps to climb or dive. Roll: Turning the column or pushing the stick to the left or right moves the ailerons. This rolls the ship clockwise or counterclockwise.

Zones of Time. Orbiting planet Earth. Over seeing the time zones in their spaceship. The surface of planet Earth is divided into 24 time zones. Mat

64

Experimentation/Presentation:
Mat is pointing to the Earth and showing a globe and the time zones. MAT The surface of the Earth is divided into 24 time zones. To travel around a circle is 360 degrees. When 360 degrees is divided by 24 hours then each zone covers 15 degrees in one hour of time. So then we now have the Earth divided up into a 24 hour clock. Airplanes, boats, and the military use a 24-hour system. 00:00 as midnight and noon as 12:00 hours, and 2:30 PM is 14:30 hours. To make it simple to change from the PM time to the 24-hour clock just add 12 to the PM time. Like 3:00 PM is 13+2= 15 or 15:00 hours. All the AM times are the same like 9:00 AM is 09:00-hours. With Time-warper technology we can travel into the future or back in time. Let us travel in the fourth dimension, back in time. (Back to the beginning of the book with Air pressure)
