8-Port DS3 Subrate Frame Relay/IP Module for the CBX 500 and CBX 3500 Multiservice Switches

The 8-Port DS3 Subrate Frame Relay/IP Module adds higher port density and subrate service capabilities to the 6-Port DS3 Frame Relay/IP Module. You can use this module to create a cost-effective, easy-to-manage solution for offering frame relay access in various speeds between DS1 and DS3. The modules subrate service interoperates with popular proprietary CSU/DSUs, including equipment from Verilink, Kentrox, Quick Eagle Networks and Larscom. The modules subrate solution also supports Maintenance Data Link so you can deliver flexible bandwidth services quickly and benefit from greater control over service reliability and ongoing operations while generating revenue opportunities.

Applications
Offer high-density, high-speed broadband Frame Relay access services at bandwidth rates between DS1 and DS3 utilizing subrate functionality Provide high-speed Frame Relay/ IP services to Internet service providers and large enterprises Support secure IP VPN services

Increases port density to 112 DS3 ports per switch Adds flexible subrate supportEach module can connect to up to eight CSU/DSUs at variable, vendor-defined speeds Offers in-band Maintenance Data Link

Benefits
Enhances operations management, reliability, and investment protection to the premises with in-band management of far-end CSUs/DSUs Generates revenue opportunities while delivering high-speed, flexible bandwidth services to enterprises quickly and profitably

Build high-speed backbone links to support mission-critical applications Backs services with robust service level guarantees Helps reduce operating costs and simplify network management with Support IP Forwarding Navis network management software

Features
Local Forwarding Engine (FE) provides IP routing for all cellbased and frame-based IP traffic Standards-based Frame Relay to ATM interworking QoS through Lucent Priority Frame Fault tolerance through Priority Rerouting and Resilient NNI Software-configurable ports Integrated CSU/DSU BERT pattern, C-Bit Parity Format, and per-port user or trunk provisioning
