www.DTSIGroup.com Why being in the Philippines makes business sense It is an exciting time to be a Filipino.

After being called the sick man of Asia for so many years, the country is finally recovering from its slump. With all the positive news about the economy, the world is beginning to realize that it does make sense to do business in the Philippines. Were always eager to promote the Philippines and the world-class expertise of its people. To take this advocacy further, weve partnered with the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP), an organization that has steadfastly worked to put the Philippines in the global IT-BPO map. I am ecstatic to say that with the combined efforts of all industry players, the Philippines has become the top destination for voice services and a major player in the nonvoice sector. It gives us pride that we are contributing to this growth by helping set up operations for locators. Our host of services for investors include strategic location services, business registration and incorporation guidance, investor incentives services, enterprise incubation, and facilities as a service. What makes the Philippines a business haven for investors? For those who still need some convincing, here are the reasons why it makes business sense to have a strong presence in the Philippines. Strong economy. While the rest of the Asian region is weathering fiscal challenges, the Philippine economy is thriving and growing more resilient. According to Bloomberg, the Philippines posted growth rates of 6.3 percent in Q1 and 5.9 percent in Q2, making it the second fastest-growing economy in Asia, next only to China. The trend is expected to continue. The World Bank has updated its growth forecast for the Philippines for the second time to 5 percent. However, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is positive that the Philippines can breach the 6 percent mark yet again before the year ends. So far, the country has risen 10 notches in the global competitive scale according to the 2012 Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum. Investor-friendly government. The Philippine government fosters a healthy business environment through investor-friendly policies and incentives. The anti-corruption drive of President Benigno S. Aquino III is also contributing to improved investor and public confidence. The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), for instance, provides attractive incentives and streamlined processes for business incorporation and registration. Highly skilled Filipino talent. The Filipino talent pool remains to be the strongest advantage of the Philippines. In the recently concluded fourth International Outsourcing Summit, President Aquino said, Our people are our greatest asset. Their combination of skill, work ethic, eagerness to learn, creativity, and loyalty is a major part of what makes this nation competitive. Early this year, the Philippines was also named as the worlds best in Business English in Global Englishs Business English Index, which also explains why we excel in servicing global clients. Technology-forward cities. All regions in the Philippines have economic zones. Cutting-edge communication, technology, and facility infrastructure are being set up not just in Metro Manila but in other emerging hubs as well. BPAP releases its Next Wave CitiesTM scorecard to

showcase upcoming IT-BPO hotspots in the country in terms of talent availability, infrastructure, costs, and BERM. IT-BPO mecca. It is not surprising that one of the countrys strongest industries, the IT-BPO and shared services industry, has consistently achieved its target of 20 percent growth annually. In 2012, the industry is expected to generate US$13.4B in revenues and provide jobs for 772,000 Filipinos. We are optimistic that the coming year will bring US$16B in revenues and increase the industry workforce to 926,000.
