Evaluation Activity 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our Production Companys name and logo The name AME Productions was created by combing the first letters of the people within our team (Ammaar, Margaret & Elise) and then putting them in a random order until we chose one that sounded nice. The production part of AME Productions comes from the fact were a production company who produce films, therefore we just added productions at the end to finish the name off. This is a typical way of naming a company as many people when starting their company, cant really think of a name, so they just end up naming their company after themselves e.g The Walt Disney Company. Also by naming the company after themselves their mark would forever be on the company name. Therefore by naming our company AME Producitons people would always want to know what AME stood for and our names would forever be associated with company. Our companys logo is made up of the actual company name. It was created by Elise Warlow. The lettering of the logo is in bold and the colouring has been made to look rustic. The reason why the logo is set out like this is because we wanted it to stand out and capture the eyes of those who see it thats why it has a 3D effect on it so it pops out and stands out.

Opening Credits of Our Film Through analysing the title sequence of Catch Me if You Can it was made clear that names of people who played more important roles within making the production were shown before the names of those who didnt have as much importance in the production. For instance in the opening credits of Catch Me if You Can the production companies were presented first then the directors, the main cast and then everyone else.

For our opening credits we followed the same pattern. The production companies were presented first, then the name of the directors followed by the name of the camera person, the editor and then the main cast.

As our opening credits were being shown over the opening sequence of the film we didnt want it to take away the audiences interest to what was happening on screen. Therefore we decided to use simple plain white font for our credits and we positioned them on parts of the frame that were visible but didnt cause an obstruction to the actual action on screen. This was applied to all the credits apart from our company name as we wanted people to know who the main Production Company is. However, I wouldnt have made it stand out as much maybe just have it in bold white font not bold red font. The Role of a Production Company A Production Company provides the physical basis for works in the realms of the performing arts, new media art, film, television, radio, and video. - Wikipedia.com A production company is in charge of funding a production they could do it through just strictly own funding or get some help from a parent company (the company the production company belongs to e.g. Pixar belongs to Disney), partner or they could acquire the money from a private investor. The Production Company is also in charge of: budgeting, the schedule of the production, scripting, finding actors & resources for the production, organizing which staff members are doing what, the production itself, distributing the production and marketing of the production. Who I think would be suitable distributer of our production The Consumer Film distributors are usually companies that will be in charge of the marketing of the film production, it could also be done by an individual. Distributers usually achieve marketing the production by advertisements, trailers, and posters, merchandise etc., anything that will successfully promote the film production. In addition to marketing, Distributers are in charge of for the releasing of films; how and when theyll be available to the public to view either through home viewing (such as DVDs, TV) or on the larger theatrical scale (in Cinemas, at Film festivals). The funding for a film like ours would have been provided by a film company that specialises in Thrillers. Our film is a full 90minute thriller production and therefore should be distributed via the big screen just like other thriller movies that are similar to ours such as Seven and Hannibal.

I believe Lionsgate Films will be suitable distributors of our production and a good choice. They are a very well established Film Company in the filming industry. Many successful Thriller and Horror movies have been produced through them such as: Hunger Games, Saw, Dogma and American Psycho. American Psycho a film about a serial killer, was Lionsgates first success. Hopefully with their experience in the Thriller/Horror field and their world known credibility of being a respectable Thriller/Horror distributer, theyll know how to distribute our product productively so it reaches a vast audience across the globe, making it an absolute success. I also think that if LionsGate collaborates with Film4 Productions to distribute our movie the distribution process would much more successful. Film4 Productions are very good at distributing

British based films to a large audience when they collaborate with bigger distribution companies such as LionsGate such as when they worked with Warner Bros. Productions and other major names to release and distribute the film 127 Hours which was a success and Attack the Block.
