ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY Refugee Action Committee 1998 [Online], Alternatives to mandatory detention a summary, <http://www.refugeeaction.org/policy/summary.htm> This articles shows that the mandatory detentions in Australia are the result of the deliberate policies successive governments that have ignored the many workable alternatives proposed over the years. It explains that some Human rights Non Government Organizations and other refugees

organization have developed alternative models since 1994 and have submitted a draft alternative detention model to Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs. The new models correspond to some framework for a better approach to refugees and asylum seekers. All of new models offer a workable alternative and respect the human rights of refugees, The Refugee Convention and other relevant aspects of international Law that Australia has signed and ratified. This article will help people to understand new models detention and the benefits of new models compared to mandatory detention model. It also makes the readers understanding easily about the different of both models. This book reviews the history of Australias changing policy on refugees and asylum seekers. It examines the psychological and physical effects of mandatory detention on asylum seekers with a particularly emphasis on children and unaccompanied minors. It also address some of the issue and problems facing unaccompanied minors and families who have been granted Temporary Protection Visa and now face a very uncertain future. This book will be a good resource for anyone interested in gaining a more complete understanding of refugee and for the readers who wish to go beyond the experiences and comments of refugees in Australia. It will help to inform public opinion, contribute to the development of policy in relation to asylum seekers and so hasten the day when children will no longer have to endure the bitterness of immigration detention. It reports that refugees who stay in detention for a long time have got hopeless and most of them got mentally disorders. The Parliament found this condition when they visited Australias migrant detention centers. Refugees are treated as guilty people and inhumane. It focuses on bad condition of some detentions in Australia. This article is a good resource for people who interest in the condition of detention in Australia and find some facts of refugees condition. Medecins Sans Frontieres, 2002, Border Stories: an exhibition to bring refugees home, Medecins San Frontieres, Sydney, Australia. This book, written specifically for Medecins Sans Frontieres awareness campaign entitled Border Stories, is intended to complement the exhibition and the exhibition guide. It is designed to help teachers help their student explore the global issue of refugees and displaced persons. Part one of the guide gives a number of facts pertinent to the campaign it self, the reason for campaign, goals and appeals, and a description of what Medecins Sans Frontieres does. The guide provides background information, including information about refugees linked to a map of the world, descriptions of geopolitical context, some current laws pertaining to refugees and a glossary of commonly used terms. The final section of the guide suggests student projects for the teacher to lead the class through, each one designed for a specific age group, and with specific objectives. It will help the students a better grasp of what people forced to exile endure and to empathy. AN. 00995355 This article reports a population-based study about the long-term effect of psychological trauma on the mental helath of Vietnamese refugees resettled in Australia. It focuses on the deleterious effects of mass trauma on the psychological well being of refugee and other war effected populations. It shows that most epidemiological data are sort to medium term effects, leaving the possibility that early psychological reactions could reduce naturally over time. This article is aimed to assess the long term effects of trauma on mental health and disability in Vietnamese refugees resettled in Australia. This article is very useful for the readers who interesting of the effects of trauma on common emotional disorders and associated indices of disability in Vietnamese refugees.
