The new unstructured CFD environment FINE/Hexa offers solution-adaptive grid optimization
In our group we have performed computations of flow around aircraft and wind turbine blades using FINETM Hexa. For these challenging applications we were very pleased with FINETM/Hexas capabilities, three of which we would like to mention especially. To begin with, the automated mesh generation was fast and took little effort of the user. Secondly, the flow feature adaptation allowed us to obtain accurate results with a reasonable number of grid points. Finally, the agglomeration multigrid technique proved to be a significant convergence accelerator, often resulting in a speed-up of a factor of five.
