2. Capacity of D.G. required considering Transient Voltage Dip (TVD) After DG starting and loading all drives the AHU load will be 'OFF' as it is started last Load on D.G. Set before AHU is thrown 'ON' = Load on D.G. Set at starting in kVA = Base Load on D.G. Set in kVA ( operated load-kVA of last load to be = switched ON) Now, P2 (considering the transient dip criteria) = where Pm is the Total Momentary Load in kVA i.e Base Load + Starting kVA of the largest Motor Xd''' = Xd' + Xd'' 2 where Xd'' Xd' Xd''' DV= Transient Voltage Dip Pm = = = = = 14% 18% 16% 10% considering at terminal and balance 5% for line drop 1849.88 kVA (1474.88 + 375 )

This indicates that both DG sets are required to be running for starting of the 150kW AHU motor as per capacity required is more than 1000 kVA 3. Capacity of D.G. required considering overload capacity P3 = Pm kVA K where Pm is the Total Momentary Load in kVA i.e Base Load + Starting kVA of the largest Motor Pm

DG SET SIZING FOR 2*1250 kVA SET

K = Overload Capacity of the DG P3 CONCLUSION : Considering the largest value amongst 2663.82 kVA P1(1975), P2(2122), P3(1681) viz. Conservative Size of D.G. set selected is 2500 kVA (1250kVA x 2) Verification of TVD with D.G. Set of capacity TVD = DV = Xd''' Xd'''+XL where XL = Starting Load Reactance = DG Capacity = = Xd''' (As capacity considered is double Xd"' retained same) Therefore, Actual Voltage Drop = DV Since TVD is close to 10%, D.G. Set Size is justified. = 1.35 16% 11% Total Momentary Load = 2500 kVA (1250kVA x 2) = = 1.1 as per manufacturer data 1681.70 kVA

Variation in V with respect to P1,P2,P3.

V in %

P1 13.03023066

P2 10

P3 14.96598639

From the above result voltage drop in P2(2663.82 kVA) is coming below specified value, the next size of DG to be selected is 3000 kVA (2*1500 kVA) this is very much higher value than required. But if we select a D.G of size 2500 kVA(2*1250 kVA) the voltage drop is around 10.5% which is very close to 10% so 2500 kVA(2*1250 kVA) is selected.
