The Busy Bee

Vol. 1, Issue 17======================================================December 29, 2012 ---------------- Lifestyle ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------LAX fails to Surprise with Bar Backlot Los Angeles, Calif. Poorly prepared food saddens me; but I should not have expected to have found good well-prepared food in an airport terminal. The wife and I required sustenance during our holiday travels and had the unfortunate experience of being trapped in Los Angeles International Airport, Terminal 1. With several options before us, we chose to sit at the glitzy Bar Backlot; that was a mistake. Its understandable that service would be a little slow during peak hours, but Im at a loss to explain bad service. Our first meeting with server Karla, was to receive the menus. the second meeting was to order large bottles of water. The third meeting was shock. It was as if I had been transported back in time and 500ml was considered large again. What happened to supersized drinks, especially with bottled beverages? I guess it could have been worse I could have paid $3.00 for 250ml of bottled water. A further 13 minutes was spent waiting for my order, a Turkey Melt with a side of chips and a dill pickle. That time frame appears reasonable, until you see what is brought to the table.. The dill pikle appears to have been made from a sub-standard cucumber, fit only for really small midgets. The chips were the best part of the meal. They were standard, wholesale, fried potato chips. But they just couldnt make the $15.00 meal worth the wait. The sandwich showed signs of blackening from a real grill, but the sourdough bread was soggy and cool to the touch. The bacon appeared to have been pre-cooked, refrigerated, and then microwaved just for me. The single slice of tomato tasted of being at room temperature for the last hour... after having been frozen. And to top everything off, the turkey and cheese appeared to have been melted in the microwave, patted dry with the top slice of bread to remove the remaining water and delicious cheese greases, and placed in my sandwich. I wasnt too happy with the service, or the meal, but all I can say is, Karla probably wasnt too happy with her crappy tip either.

A group of Californians, in Toyota Prii, were involved in a three car collision while travelling north-bound on California Highway 1 north of Gaviota Beach. Inclement weather and mild rain showers may have contributed to the incident, but it is an established fact that no unintended acceleration was caused by the Toyota Prius; rather, it was the separate drivers at fault for their inability to drive safely in the rain.
