5 Bhaav-Kaarak The main objective of astrology is to tell the native about his nature, future events, warning about

any calamities and suggesting remedies if possible. This is done by drawing a chart. It can tell not only about him but also about his whole family too. Since it has only 12 distinctive divisions and 9 planets, the astrologer has to manage with this information only. These 12 Houses represent everything, how and what, let us see -Always remember possibility and necessity of Bhavat Bhavam principle, counting houses from houses. Dusthaan means "bad placement" or "bad place". Where if a plant is posited afflicts the Native. Some planets are when placed in some Houes give bad results, thus those Houses are Dusthaan or bad places for those planets. Thus Dusthaan are houses of problems of all kinds (health, wealth, social and individual problems). If a Benefic planet is posited in these houses, it is good only for one thing - for these problems! He is 'beneficial and auspicious for problems' - e.g. Jupiter in 6H does increase power of your concurrents and enemies (and combined with Saturn increases danger for Cancer), Jupiter in 12H increases losses, Jupiter in 8th increases need for transformation and leads to deep changes in life. I have heard that if in 8H there are more than one Benefic with Jupiter then they make Asur Yog - but no Malefic should be there. The logic behind this is astonishingly easy: Malefics in Dusthaan harm problems, Benefics increase them. Therefore Malefics in 6H damage your enemies, not yourself. Many Benefics in one Dusthaan or spread in two or three Dusthaan houses is really not the very best constellation. Suppose all Malefics are in 6H, then nobody can easily conquer the enemies and even that person remains in fighting mode to all, even to his close-ones, and every time. Osho's Jup was in 8H to Moon, and if we talk about Moon Lagna then there is exchange between 1st and 8th Houses. And his Jupiter is in retrogression means having enormous energy. And we know about his spirituality. Asur Yog is getting

verified from this example itself. Here only one Jupiter (having strong energy) is making Asur Yog. Jupiter was placed in his 2nd House to Lagna that is why his speech was so sweet and so much manipulative. HL in 5th house and GL in 10th house. Why I am emphasizing on 5th and 10th house with HL and GL, because strong authoritative power due to followers.

Maarak Houses Maarak Houses are 2nd and 7th houses. They are the "houses of death" and can lead to endings. (1) One certainly dies under the Dashaa, Antar-Dashaa or Pratyantar Dashaa of his Maarkesh Graha. (2) If there is no Dashaa of Maarkesh at that time, then one dies under the Dashaa of of conjoined Malefic Graha. (3) One must know, that under the Dashaa of the 8th Lord (What is 8th Lord, see below), its own Antar-Dashaa becomes Maarak. (4) Dhanesh (Lord of Wealth) is Maarak under the Dashaa of Vyayesh (Lord of Expenses); and vice versa. (5) In the same way, the Antar-Dashaa of the Graha placed in 8th House is Maarak under the MD of the 6th Lord. Identifying Maarkesh --The 8th place from Janm Lagna (Ascendant) is known as "Aayu" place. --According to Paraashar, 8th place from 8th House (ie 3rd Bhaav from Lagna) is also considered as "Aayu" House. --The 12th place from "Aayu" place (8th House) is called "Maarak" place, that is why 2nd and 7th Houses from Janm Lagna are considered as "Maarak" places. --In Shaastra, the 2nd Lord is the first Maarkesh, and the 7th Lord is considered the second Maarkesh. --8th Bhaav denotes "Death" Aayu and death are interrelated to each other, when Aayu is complete, death comes; or say when death comes, Aayu is complete. Death occurs because of some disease, or accident or any other cause, that is why life-

span, cause of death and death causing diseases, are all interrelated. There is a big hand of one's Aayu in identifying a disease curable or incurable - because till one's Aayu is there, no disease is incurable, but as soon one's Aayu is finished, even a slight disease becomes incurable. That is why whether a disease is curable or incurable is decided by the Aayu (Life) span. Vriddhi (Auspiciousness) of a Bhaav To assess the total Pushti (Vriddhi or auspiciousness) of a Bhaav, we need to see the strength of its Bhaav Lord and strength of its Kaarak Lord as well, apart from the strength of the Bhaav. For example, --if we have Saturn and Mars in 8th House from the 5th House (means in 2nd House), it is Maarak for children. --same is true for the 8th House from Jupiter which is the Kaarak for children --also the 8th House from the House where the 5th Lord is sitting is the Kaarak for children. We need to add those 3 values - strength of the Bhaav, strength of the Bhaav Lord, and strength of its Kaarak, together and finally get a full assessment. that is how they determine if a particular Bhaav prospers or not! So the Vriddhi of the Bhaav is NOT solely from Bhaav alone, but from Bhaav Lord and its Kaarak Lord too. What is the 8th Lord? Owner of 8th house is normally termed as Maarkesh, as 8th house denotes: Calamity, Accidents, Mutilation, etc. The Lord of that house seated in any house from Lagna could spoil the portfolio of the house concerned, hence he is termed Maarkesh. 9-Upachaya Houses Upachaya Houses are 3H, 6H, 10H, and 11H -

They are considered for material prosperity. There is a Dictum that Malefics in 3H and 6H help to overcome adversities and in advancement of prosperity. Benefic planets in 10H are more welcome but all planets in 11H lead to material benefits.
Perhaps that is why Raavan wanted all planets of his newborn son Meghnaad to sit in his 11th House so that his son could be immortal and have all comforts throughout his life, but Shani Dev was very crook and he extended his leg in the 12th House without being being noticed by Raavan and this caused Meghnaad's death.

Malefics in 3H provide benefic and auspicious Argalaa. Now consider a case of Mars in 11H, from it it gets - (a) auspicious Argalaa, (b) it is a Upachaya place from 11H. If a powerful Malefic is placed in 8H and is under auspicious influence this means more auspicious points in Ashtak Varg - more than 12.5 Vinshopak Bal, well placed in Avasthaa, and in case of nodes aspected by the Lord of 8H or (benefics), the Houses 3, 6, 10 and 11 will materially prosper. Venus of Leo, in 11th House, blesses native to unravel, unfounded, and unreachable wealth - Jameen kaa gadaa huaa dhan - Deva Keralam Mars of Cancer makes one perfect in committing thefts - Deva Keralam All Malefics are good in Upachaya Houses When Venus, Jupiter etc tenant in the Upachaya Houses, Vasumat Yog is caused. The original text is in the Horaa.
Lagnaat Ateev Vasumaan, Vasumaan Sasankat, Saumya Grahe Upachayopagateh Samaste

This is one of the fundamental Shlok of the fundamental text in Horaa or Brihat Jaatak - how does it make difference?

7-Kendra House Lordship

Kendra Houses (1, 4, 7, 10) are the houses of Vishnu, of sustaining, the backbone of our horoscope and our life and provide normally auspicious periods, but not as auspicious at the best houses, Trikon (2H, 3H, 5H, 6H, 8H, 9H. 11H, and 12H), in a chart. Kendra Houses are four in a chart - 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses. It is said that if --Malefic Planets (Sun, Mars, Saturn, waning Moon, and Mercury) Yuti with Malefic, Raahu, Ketu as Kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) lords, they are auspicious, and if --Benefic Planets (waxing and full Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury) Yuti Benefic Planets as Kendra Lords, they are inauspicious.
BPHS, Ch. 34, Sl. 14:

It has been said, that a malefic, owning a Kendra, will become auspicious, which is true, only when it simultaneously Lords over a Kon (Angular House) and not by merely owning a Kendra. This means, a malefic owning a Kendra Bhaav only becomes beneficial in effects when he is simultaneously owning a Trikon Bhaav (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th). Reversely, a benefic owning a Kendra Bhaav only becomes malefic if he is simultaneously owning an Upachaya Bhaav (3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th), secondarily a Dusthaan Bhaav (6th, 8th, 12th).
