Petron Selects UA&P-CSR as the Lead Institution to Spearhead the External Assurance of its 2012 Sustainability Report
Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has an external assurance process which engages a group of individuals -- either prescribed by a professional assurance agency or handpicked by the reporting organization -- from a pool of experts in their respective fields to serve as third party assurers. This group is referred to as External Review Committee (ERC). Unlike other forms of assurance, this GRI activity does not require the ERC to evaluate the performance of the reporting organization. Instead, they endeavor to validate the veracity of the data claimed in an organizations sustainability report. Pleased with the progress it has made since its first reporting year in 2009, Petron is partnering with the UA&P Center for Social Responsibility (CSR) for the external assurance of its 2012 sustainability report for the third year in a row. Through this latest engagement, Petron is affirming that it is looking forward to further enhancing the soundness of its report by incorporating suggestions made by the ERC.

The Project Bulletin

The Project Bulletin is the Center for Social Responsibilitys (CSR) initiative that aims to keep its stakeholders aware and updated about its most recent projects. Furthermore, it is part of the Centers commitment to promote transparency and accountability.

Center for Social Responsibility

As host and lead institution in the assurance process, the UA&P-CSR is tasked to assist in identifying and selecting the members of the External Review Committee. The Center will also serve as a liaison between Petron and the ERC to ensure objectivity throughout the assurance process. This involves coordinating, providing administrative and logistical support, and ultimately supervising the work undertaken by members of the ERC.

The Center for Social Responsibility is an extension unit of the University of Asia and the Pacific. The Center advocates Partnerships for Sustainability that aims to engage the business community, LGUs, CSOs, and the youth in promoting sustainable practices. In 2007 the Center was elected to the Stakeholder Council of the GRI in Amsterdam.
