Chapter 1 PROJECT OVERVIEW Background of the Study Technology has become an indispensable factor in satisfying the unending needs

and in achieving desirable outputs with less effort but with more comfort compared with doing it through traditional ways. Modern technologies are designed to provide an interesting, accessible, convenient and manageable time for the user to help them work easier. Thus, technology has a big role in influencing people and making reliable work. Computerized systems are very much needed in companies and business that will provide better products or services and even accurate data for the firm through the information system. Information System is defined as combination of technology, people, and data to support business requirements. Nowadays businesses are innovating there process into computerize transaction and making edge to other business competencies. Some business transaction made online with the use of internet like: ordering, reservation registration, and etc. The most commonly used by the company is the sales system and integrated with inventory system that handle various operations. Business establishment must use modern technology to make task easier and faster, technologies that will make people solve complex problems. Businesses need advance system saves time and provide better security, such as automated teller machine, human resources information and payroll system.

Inventory systems are tracking systems that will provide the amount of raw materials, supplies or final products, that readily available. This system is updated every time the items or raw materials are sold, therefore the availability of the products is identified and this will help the company to order in advance for the stock. The University of Alberta Facility Inventory System is located in Edmonton; Canada provides a computerized inventory of equipment on campus for departmental, faculty and central administrative functions. Facility Inventory System has the responsibility to ensure that all new equipment acquisitions are inventoried. Initially, this involves scrutinizing all completed purchase orders, followed by an equipment inventory staff member locating and tagging the equipment and processing the information. Only Facility Inventory System has the ability to provide with the complete task by using borrowing with lending system that elaborate the data user. According to Quibuyen(2011), the study of POS and Inventory Control System of Digital Carmen Warehouse, automated system can be used in inventory processing and this could minimize or solve problems. In addition, the viability in filling, recording, retrieving, classifying, storing and searching can be provided by a new system which improves the companys performance. Semi-Computerized, and POS; It requires a lot of effort and time consuming on the part of the employees and especially on the Clients. The study of Point of Sale and Inventory System of City Luck Enterprises is to highlight their business transactions. This tends to develop an automate Point of Sale and Inventory System that will function more efficiently and effectively. The researchers will develop a Point of Sale and Inventory System which serves the company by accessible in tracing their suppliers records to ensure the accountability of operation. This study will help the company ease the entire problem encountered in their manual procedures through the propose system. It focuses especially on the Inventory, POS, Information of the employees, Suppliers records and purchase orders of the company. Company Profile Mr. Benny Uy established City Hardware in 2001. Back then, My. Uy was only concerned with earning enough to support his family. The store occupied a space of approximately 50 square meters it was originally a small 1 storey building located at the Bayaoas, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan. They sold an array of small hardware items lumber and other, Construction supplies. It was in 2011 when a growth in its operation necessitated the hiring of five employees. The growth was brought about by the addition of electrical supplies and additional construction materials in the stores inventory. At that time City Luck was already slowly evolving from being just a retail store into a medium sized

company. Things really began to look up for the company in mid-2011. Throughout this years business escalated rapidly sales reached hundred thousands, which ultimately led to an expansion of the company and its operations. They acquired a whole block of land where a 2-storey commercial building was erected which up to now serves as the companys base of operations. Today, City Luck is a company known for its exceptional lines of industrial tools, it retails, wholesales. Importance of the Study The Point of Sale and Inventory System of City Luck Enterprise will not only be beneficial to the company but also to the clients and the suppliers. In undertaking this project study, the researchers also take in consideration the other beneficiaries as well. The Company. The study will help the company progress their products, lessen multiple errors and exert less efforts concerning transaction workflow. The Employees. This study will help the employees in their task in terms of business transactions, keeping and retrieving of files in an efficient and reliable way. It will lessen their time in organizing clients records and errors will be avoided. The Clients. The study will help the client through the system by taking less time for them to wait for their receipt because the calculation of the product is easy to compute by the proposed system. The Suppliers. This study will help the suppliers to trace all invoices and reports of the products. The Researchers. Through this project study, the researchers will be able to learn not just by theories but through application. The project study allowed the researchers to determine the appropriate methodology, tools and features in developing the system.
