The Fair will give you an opportunity to make your books and other printed matter known to the Egyptian People, who are among the largest per capita Book purchasers in the world. It will enable you to meet your fellow publishers and other members of the book trade from all over the world. It will let you examine varied Egyptian facilities for book publishing and production. Finally, the fair will allow you to take advantage of Egypts unique hospitality, its historical sites, theatres, museums, concert halls, libraries, and bazaars. Where Cultures Meet...


The Cairo International Book Fair is the largest yearly cultural event in Middle East. Its aim are: - To Facilitate and promote exchange between authors, publishers, all those professionally concerned with books and responsible for reading and culture in all countries. - To organize a friendly International competitive event between all those who take part in the production of books, writers, publishers, paper manufacturers, printers, engravers, illuminators, binders, booksellers, librarians. Bibliophiles and in general, all those who collaborate in book production and distribution. - To provide a forum for those interested in the childrens literature in Egypt. - To establish a market for antiquarian booksellers. - To promote all-round cultural cooperation among nations and popularize the finest publications which further peace.

Invited to take part in the fair are: publishers, distributors, authorized representatives, importers, exporters, and retail booksellers. They may exhibit books of their own production or books which they distributed, imported or exported, and books involved in their own bookselling activities, paper and graphic manufactures and related activities. - Manufacturers and importers of machines and graphic accessories: They may exhibit all items connected with the activity by which were admitted to the fair. - Writers and authors, associtations, theatre and other artistic activities, professional chambers, graphic designers and artists: They may exhibit their documentation and books connected with their activities and those of their associates. - Foreign embassies, chambers and compenies: They may exhibit books as well as any printed matter related to their cultural activities. - National, state and city organizations, public, private, national or city libraries. They may display their organization and activities and may also carry out promotional work. In the case of libraries, they are allowed to enrol new members. - Antique dealers: They may exhibit books and materials belonging to their collections. Eligible to exhibit also are newspapers and journals with permanent literary supplement, products of teaching aids (incorporated with permanent books or writing materials) literary records, slides, cassettes, of recorded in so far as they form part of, or complement, a certain book.

Teaching Aid and Publications

Application to Exhibit
- The application form must be completed in duplicate. One copy is to be sent to the director of book fairs to corniche el nile boulac, cairo, egypt, before 15 Nov. 2012, and the other copy is to be retained by the exhibitors. Exhibitors are reminded that the exhibition space will be allocated in order of registrations, as the available. - The fairs management reserves the right to refuse any application or to accept it only under certain conditions, all this its exclusive discretion and no reasons may necessarily be given. - In case of the cancellation before December 1st 2012 the exhibitor will be charged 30% to the sum due for the area reserved by him. If cancellation is made before 20 December 2012, the exhibitor will be charged 50% to the sum due for the area reserved by him. After this date, the exhibitor is liable to settle his account in full.

When the management receives the application form, the proforma invoice with costs of the stand will be airmailed. The exhibitor is obliged to effect the payment of the value of the proforma invoice in favour of the central bank of egypt, 54 Elgamohria St., A/C No. 9/190/60521/9 BIC: CBEGEGC XXXX cairo, egypt. within 15 days upon the receipt of the invoice, and to show proof of the payment when taking over the stand.

Special Exhibition Service


For publishers who do not wish to rent a stand and send a representative, but would like to have their books displayed and promoted during the cairo 44th international book fair 2013, the following services are offered by GEBO: - Display of books in the main exhibition hall on individual stand bearing the name of the publisher. - Promotion service by GEBO representatives. - Transmission of orders made during the fair to the publisher concerned, through GEBO import department. These services are rendered on the following conditions: - Payment in advance of five us dollars per book (minimum 50 books). - Books exhibited remain the property of GEBO. - GEBO import department is to be granted the usual commercial discount for order made. - Books should be addressed to GEBO, preferably by air freight, and clearly marked special exhibition service, Cairo International Book Fair. - Copy of shipping documents to be registered airmail to GEBO. - Payment to be sent with application.

Transport and Customs

In order to complete efficiently the necessary procedures and deliver the exhibits to the stands, the following instructions should be followed: All the shipping documents (railway bill, shipping note, airway-bill mail) should be addressed to the fairs management as follows: Cairo International Book Fair General Egyptian Book Organization Corniche El-Nile, Boulac, Cairo, Egypt Marked Cairo International Book Fair and the freight to Egypt should be prepaid. If the exhibitors send their exhibits through a forwarding agent, the agent should be given instruction to that end. - For the purpose of egyptian customs clearing, it is necessary to furnish the organizer with: - Five copies of each invoice. - Packing list (5 copies). - Insurance policy. - The management will transport the parcels to the fairground. - The exhibitor will be charged with the expenses which should be paid in cash or by payable cheque. - The exhibitor will pay L.E. 20 Per parcel (maximum 30 kg). - If the exhibitors wish to send their exhibits through a forwarding agent, They will be charged with the administrative expenses (2% of the total value of the invoice) to issue him a letter of participation to submit it to the egyptian customs clearance. Payment for stands in us $ for foreigner or in accordance with bank rate (in case of equivalent).

Terms and Conditions of Participation

The exhibitor must provide the organizer with: two copies of passports of the delegation members, one photo to issue an exhibitor card and date of arrival and departure. 1. The organizer reserves the right to postpone the fair to alter the duration or hours of opening or closing or to exclude the public early or cancel it altogether if there are important reasons for doing so. Any of these alterations will have no effect on the validity of contracts with exhibitors and on the organizers claim for full payment of the stand rental. 2. The conclusion of the contracts does not entitle the exhibitor to a specific position. 3. The organizer is entitled to decrease the stand and rental will be decreased accordingly. 4. Any decorations or promotion material must be fixed to the stand walls in such a way that the stands material is not damaged or disfigured (e.g. permanent adhesive tape). 5. Flashing light signals of any kind must not be used on stand. Stickers may not be offered or distributed from stands or any where else in the halls. 6. Audio-visual equipment may only be used if it does not disturb the neighbouring stands in any way. Advertising of any kind is permitted on the fairground only through the fairs management.

Non-compliance with Terms and Conditions

The organizer may exclude an exhibitor from the fair if he does not comply with the terms and conditions and persists in doing so after admonition or repeats breaches of the contract which have already been admonished at previous fairs. In particularly serious cases, this exhibitor may also be excluded from future fairs, also applied if the exhibits banned by court of law have been shown or if the exhibitor or his employees have committed or encouraged punishable offence (e.g. Theft or deliberate copyright infringements).
