yourself for the General Managers job? Answer: To be a General Manager, skill in the managerial aspect is very important and a must. General Manager not only required specializing in the field of supervision but also in the field of administrative and financial in general. The General Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of restaurant, including the selection, development and performance management of employees. A potential General Manager should able to implements Human Resource Management (HRM) function. Firstly he must able to do a job analysis to identify the scope of each potential position such as supervisors, managers, dishwashers, cashiers, cooks, order takers and other position related to restaurant. This is to ensure that each of these employees fits into the company needs. Next, by Recruitment and Selection the General Manager would able to recruit and select suitable amount of candidates with appropriate qualification and experience. This practice would also enable the General Manager to make and match the selection of candidates to suit each of the position. For example, a candidate with 5 years experience in supervising and scheduling shift for employee would be best to appoint as supervisor. The new employee needs to be train. Thus trough Training and Development the General Manager will be able to identify and prepare a training program for new employees. This is to ensure that adequate and proper training provided to employee will open an opportunity for their career development in order to promote from within the company. In terms of profit sharing and to ensure it is distributed fairly amongst the employee, Evaluation and Performance Management is needed. This practice is also to determine

whether existing employee are doing the right thing for the company and at the same time to communicate to each employee about his or her job performance and contribution to the company.

To use email advertising and ask friends to forward the email no cost to be involved. (gMail, Yahoo are free email hosting) Get permission from the college administrative to distribute flyers, to stick on notice board or to place ads in college magazines/publications. Ask colleagues, neighbors or acquaintances to verbally forward the ads to other their friends or relatives who need a temporary job.
