It is a matter of great pride that IEEE MANIT is launching its Students Project Contest - SRAJAN. I am glad to see the IEEE MANIT team come up with events of stature in the past and I am sure will continue the trend in the near future. In a technical institute like ours it is good to see students getting involved in core technical learning and projects. I wish the IEEE MANIT team for all their future endeavours. Dr. R. K. About SRAJAN13
SRAJAN is Student Project Contest to be held on March 2 & 3, 2013. It is international-level inter-collegiate event to be organized by our branch, open for UG & PG students across India. With the tagline Ideate || Innovate || Create , the contest aims to encourage out of the box ideas and provide a platform to present creativity and innovation of students. The contest will look at innovation as a process focused on a range of disciplines in electronics, electrical and computer science engineering branches.

Contest Objectives
To provide a platform for students to display their novel ideas & a chance to discuss and debate these ideas among people with similar intellectual abilities. To foster innovation and applied learning among students. To address the need of focus on innovation as a essential factor for progress of engineering students. To promote research as a career for Engineering students at undergraduation and post-graduation level.

About MANIT
Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology is an Institute of National Importance. It was formerly known as Maulana Azad College of Technology, which was India's one of the first eight Regional Engineering Colleges. The institute has been named after the great scholar, educationist and the first education Minister of Govt. of India, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Presently running with about 200 faculties and 4000 students. It is situated in the heart of Bhopal on a beautiful plateau with a verdant 650acre campus. In the past, many conferences and workshops have been organized at MANIT. In 2010, MANIT celebrated it's Golden Jubilee Year.

About IEEE MANIT Student Branch The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Student Branch at MANIT endeavours to promote awareness among students on the opportunities that exist in the field of computer science, electronics and electrical engineering. The branchs core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. Our objective is to bridge the gap between industry and students studying in technology-related fields, while promoting and providing an intellectually stimulating university environment for the student body. IEEE Student Branch, MANIT aims to provide a platform for the budding engineers to hone their technical skills and to develop a conducive environment for indigenous research that benefits both the individual and society. Since the inception, it is successful in organizing various events with well defined objectives.

Past Events & Activities IEEE SCEECS 2012


IEEE Students' Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science with theme Innovation for Humanity was organized by IEEE MANIT Student Branch and was technically sponsored by IEEE Madhya Pradesh Subsection on March 1-2, 2012.

The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Nikunj Srivastava, Collector of Bhopal in presence of Director, MANIT Bhopal and the Keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. G. Rama Murthy of International Institute of Technology, Hyderabad on 'Cognitive Wireless Sensor Networks: Future Internet' and some invited talks by Prof. J L Rana on 'Cloud Computing' and by Prof. Jawar Singh on 'Dynamic SRAM Memory Design' were held. Proceedings of the conference have been published and indexed by IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Besides regular paper presentations, one major attraction of the conference was BSPC Best Student Project Contest.

Aarambh is an outreach program conducted by IEEE MANIT Students' Branch with an intrinsic aim to promote science not as a subject but as a part of day to day life and career interest to the underprivileged sections of society. The idea is to popularize science as a way to understand life and to feel the things happening around by reaching children from deprived communities, who are getting elementary education in some government or convent schools with basic problems such as lack of quality teacher, improper infrastructure, lack of guidance, inadequate atmosphere. Talks & Webinar A webinar on inertial systems and GPS was given by Dr. George T Schimdt, Distinguished lecturer for IEEE Aerospace and Electronic system society. One talk was on 'How to make yourself Industry Adaptive' and another on 'Summer Internships in India and Abroad.

Workshops A workshop was organized on how to work on OrCad Pspice hosted by Arun Thomas, member of the student branch. A two day workshop on MATLAB and Simulink was hosted with our branch counselor Prof. Shailendra Jain himself teaching students how to get acquainted with MATLAB and Simulink tools. A workshop on WebDesigning taken by Pre-final year student Deepak Kumar & Final year student Navratan Soni. Projects Some of the projects undertaken by the member students under mentorship from faculty members and senior students were Low-Cost Multi-touch Screen (Image Processing), Face Recognition based Attendance Automation, Eye Tracking for Human Computer Interaction and E-Bike. The Branch provide monetary aids to the non-IEEE students to develop their projects and ideas.

SRAJAN 2013 will be a highly-selective quality event where students will visit MANIT, Bhopal to present their projects. The contest is to be held in nationallevel, so huge participation of UG, PG and Doctoral students from all areas of engineering and science across India is expected. Pre-contest workshops and talks to be delivered by notable speakers are an added incentive and through which we will increase our reach to more and more number of students. SCEECS 2012 organized by our student branch was a huge success with 629 papers authored by 1500 students and scholars submitted for review throughout the world in the conference. The average number of visits on conference website was 300 hits/day and the footfall during the event was 6000 people/day. Keeping in view of the grand success of the student conference, SRAJAN also expects huge participation from all over the nation. We are expecting around 100-150 teams with around 500-600 students to take part in first phase of the contest.
