This is a thought-wave universe. All matter and masses of matter are the bodies of thought. More simply stated, matter is pure thought. All matter has a meaning which tells of the IDEA it manifests. Thinking is for the purpose of building thought-bodies to symbolize thoughtimaginings and creating bodies by thought-wave motion to image those thoughts. Your body is the image of your thinking. Its state of health or strength is a record of your thinking. If you inherited an imperfect body, you can think your knowing in the direction of its perfection. You can think only that which you know, or imagine, or desire. Likewise, you can create or express or give out only that which you know. Your power lies in true knowledge from the still source within rather than information from the sensed world without. Your ability to express that power in building bodies lies in what knowledge your Consciousness is aware of. Knowledge will build for you a stable life. You can continually transform yourself, and your life condition, only through continually acquiring greater knowledge, then thinking that knowledge into the form of you. What you think, you become. Knowledge is that which you can dynamically and scientifically explainand then demonstrate. Knowledge is ideaand balanced thinking is the power to think idea into balanced effect in the perfect image of the idea which is its cause. The mold of your life depends upon your ability to emulate the balance of Nature in your thinking. Likewise, the status of world civilization is dependent upon its ability to balance its thinking as gravity balances Natures actions with its reactions. All creative action requires much effort given in love in order to build the desired expression. Power lies in successful use of the science of creative thinking. - Walter Russell 1935
CREATIVE THINKING
WRITTEN BY WALTER RUSSELL ON NOVEMBER 21, 2006. POSTED IN PHILOSOPHY
This creating universe of all that is, or ever has been, is the result of balanced thought and action. Thinking alone is not creative thinking. If the Universal Mind were limited to thinking alone, the universe of form and motion would never have been. It would not have been created. It would have been limited to the idea of itself, the concept of itself, without form and void. When the God-force of creation acts upon the thought-idea of the universe, the God-force demonstrated the principle contained in the divine Idea and the universe comes into being forever creating. The Supreme Ruler of all things can do only two things: THINK and ACT. Out of balanced thought and action, Gods creating universe appears.
Man can also do only two things: THINK and ACT. Out of the more or less balanced thoughts and actions of man his universe of created things appears. These two things the Universal Mind does, man must also do in order to express power. The dependability of Natural Law grows out of the balance of power between the two creative principles of Nature. The undependability of mans creations grows out of his lack of ability to balance his thinking with his acting. Nature is absolute. Without Natural Law there is no room for unbalance. Every portion of the universal concept must come into being (or form) true to concept. Mans aspirations and concepts rarely come into being true to concept. His thoughts and actions rarely balance themselves. When any man who conceives a great principle can balance the power of that thought-principle with an equally balanced series of actions to give perfection of form to that principle, he is heralded by all men as a genius. The success of such a person lies in his relative ability to demonstrate a thought-principle by creating a form for it. The greater a mans ability to express himself creatively by demonstrating the thought-principles which flow through him, the greater his power. The Universal Creative Force, as evidenced in Natural Law, should be mans standard, his guide, and his goal. The nearer mans approach to the absolute balance between universal creative thought and universal creative action, as expressed by the electric interrelation between space and material form of this electric universe of balanced thought and action, the greater the power of man. Knowledge of itself is not power, as the proverb states, nor does ones ability to think great thoughts constitute power, for thinking without action creates nothing. No principle has been demonstrated. The thinker has not demonstrated creative ability until he has acted to bring the form of his idea into being. Thinking without action images visions which die stillborn. Dreamers and visionaries who do not act to give form to their dreams and visions do not express power. They are impotent even though their inspiration be the mightiest ever conceived in the mind of man. They do not serve the world, even though their inner ecstasy makes them feel as a god. Action without thinking does not constitute power, and for the same reason. Through action alone nothing is created. Through action alone things created by others are but repeated. Actions expressed upon the foundations of other peoples creations are labor. Laborers are followers of leaders who create. In a certain respect they are physical extensions of minds which function in other bodies. As man can do but two things, think and act, so must man be ever classified as thinker or follower/laborer in accordance with each mans ability to both think and act. Thinking is done with the mind and actions are performed with the body. The mind of the thinker contacts the inspirational Source of the Universal Mind from which this creating
universe knows and owes its being. To the thinker there are no limitations which are not universal. The mind of the follower/laborer is bound to his body sensing. His limitations are the limitations of objective and material sensing. He is a follower who resists change, for he is trained to repeat things as they are. The thinker has no fear of anything. He is above fear. The follower fears everything. His objectivity breeds fear of everything in him. The still center of man is the Kingdom of God, the still Light. And around that still Light is the coil, or a series of coils that we call man, his knowing and thinking. There is no expression of power there, whatsoever, other than the power expressed in matter itself, until man knows and thinks. All the power that man has is in his knowing. And all of it is expressed only by his thinking. However, work must be performed in order to express power. But the power that we express is not in the body. The power that we express is in the still fulcrum of God centering every manthe Light which centers everyone and every creating thing. In that still fulcrum of rest is all the power. The action which extends from it is the expression of power, what we call Creation.

Ideas never before even known are coming into being. New ideas meet with great resistance because they have no such earmarks for recognition as old ones have. Yet all old ideas were once unrecognizable new ones. I wish to present new ideas for adding greater benefits to IBM. New ideas and new knowledge that have heretofore been unknown come from the creative minds of those who have the power to reach out into the Universal Consciousness and bring new concepts into material form for mans use. One little idea at a time transforms mans necessarily changing world from static death to dynamic life. These new ideas do not come from books, for such books have never been printed. They do not come from teachers, for such new ideas are unknown to teachers. New ideas come only from the minds of creative thinkers. Knowledge of Universal Law teaches us that Nature unfailingly expresses action in two opposite directions in which each opposite force is equal. Ninety-nine or more percent of men express themselves primarily in one direction and waste most of the force generated by the other. For example, the rebound of the ball from the wall has a force equal to that with which the ball was hurled against the wall. A man expends energy in hurling a ball against the wall. The rebound costs him nothing, for the wall provides the energy, but he profits nothing from the rebound unless he catches the ball.
Each man of IBM expends immense energy exerted in the direction of his achievement and of his wages, but he cannot see the rebound which awaits him to enrich his life, so he misses the ball; and IBM loses the greater efficiency it should naturally have at the same cost output. Mr. Watsons two-way thinking of man-building and machine-building is his expenditure of effort in hurling the ball against the wall. The Watsonian Principle is the rebound which should be caught and not missed. The rebound is worth more money to the business than the earning from the effort of the initial action. It is also worth more to Mr. Watson in recognition of his genius during his lifetime instead of posthumously. As head of a business, he receives but surface recognition. Higher honors come from the rebound. This principle in action is also worth more to the world because of the leavening effect of Mr. Watsons higher ethics seeping through civilization. IBM is demonstrating the Watsonian Principle in one direction. Through my knowledge of the Law of Universal Balance, I wish to point out how IBM, Mr. Watson, and every individual can double the effects by making use of the rebound as a by-product.
BACK TO BEGINNINGS
IBM is the result of the vision, imagination, and inspiration of Mr. Watson. He reached out into the unknown and got his vision as a formless idea. His whole concept flashed to him in essence when he first conceived it. Little by little he unfolded its details as a master painter adds brushstroke after brush-stroke to his creation. Little by little he built around him men to whom he could pass these ideas forward for the purpose of giving them form and substance. The men he chose were necessarily those who could fashion his ideas into products and sell them. Such men became necessary extensions of himself, for, obviously, he could not physically fashion the many multiplications of his one idea and distribute them without so extending himself.
in at the beginning. Increase man-power by man-building and the product of man will increase. As Edwin Markham says, In vain do we build the city if we do not first build the man. Mr. Watson reaches out into space for those inspired imaginings which make him the dominating central light of a great system. This place he holds as rightly as the sun holds its central position in our solar system. In order for Mr. Watson to have been able to integrate himself into his purpose, he had to first have the purpose, just as the sun of our solar system first had to generate its light in order to radiate it. Mr. Watsons inspirations are the foundations of his purpose and not the reverse. The directions of his inspirations are toward his higher Self. The direction of his self expression is outward from his inspirational source toward purpose, where the illumination of his light contacts men and reflects outward from them to purpose. Perhaps one percent of his light finds the inward direction to inspire men far removed from him, and possibly ten percent radiates to those close to him. IBM is Mr. Watsons instrument upon which he interprets his purpose. The perfection of his purpose is not in his product. It is in his concept. For this reason, he can never be satisfied, because the inexhaustible fountain from which his product springs is ever revealing greater depths to him. It is his very life and inspiration, of which his enthusiasm and effervescence are but surface indications. He could not generate enthusiasm from surface alone. It must come from the depths. He constantly urges the necessity of enthusiasm in every man, forgetting that those far removed from him have not the man-building training as a foundation from which enthusiasm effervesces. Their surfaces are slightly stirred for the time being, but they all too soon relapse into their own normalities. If their imaginations were stimulated, their enthusiasm would be self-effervescent. IBM should be the instrument upon which every IBM man expresses himself. Looking only in the one direction of IBM, he is more liable to think of IBM as a job in which he is helping to make another man powerful and successful. Just as a thousand pianists can express their own individual inspirations upon one instrument evolved by a Steinway, so should every IBM man learn that he is expressing his own individuality on the kind of instrument evolved for him by IBM. Mr. Watsons inspirational direction of thinking is too often interrupted by the many who demand a reversal of his direction of thinking to their opposed ways. He should have two cabinets, one for IBM and one to catch the rebound of the world influence of his thinking. He should lead in the world desire for a unitary civilization which his philosophy would hasten. I believe Mr. Watson is helping to unfold the design of life in this dangerous age. I believe that Mr. Watsons only way of spreading this doctrine of internationalism, which must lead to a unitary civilization some day, is to first balance his machine-building power with an equal man-
building power. This would multiply IBM and balance the Watsonian Principle. It would then spread that principle throughout the world to raise the standard of ethics. The Watsonian Principle is the philosophy which has radiated from IBM practice. It is a philosophy which could stabilize the world at this time when such a philosophy is needed. All people who employ men for their own purposes alone are exploiters of other humans. The Watsonian philosophy offers men the opportunity to find their own life purposes. It does not exploit men, it elevates them to heights determinable by themselves. It gives them the foundation of their own self-power. IBM is a system in which every planet has an orbit appropriate to its own potential. It is a friendly family of mutual interests. IBM product is a liberator of mans labor burden, an eraser of mans drudge.
knowledge of the power to transmute their technical training into an objective, and make a life design of it. Each one of them has been equipped with capital for a journey to fame and fortune, but many have chained themselves to a treadmill. Of all the departments, this one needs a greater understanding of the Watsonian Principle and of Self-searching. The salesmen are wonderfully trained in the technical direction. The only suggestion in the creative direction which I could find in a list of those characteristics which a good salesman should have is self-analysis. As he knows practically nothing of self, asking him for success in that direction would be like asking him to make a chemical analysis of an oil used in a machine or a metallurgical analysis of an alloy in a wheel. One great necessity of salesmen that could come from training in that direction is the art of fast thinking. Salesmen have a particular need for thinking ahead, and also for thinking in at least one inner layer and one outer layer simultaneously. Salesmen would close many more orders if they could cultivate a duality of thinking so as to anticipate what one has to say before he says it. There is no miracle or guesswork about knowing others thoughts before they have been completed in words. As soon as a man thinks a thought, it exists. The high-speed intuitive thinker can sense the thought in the very attitude of the man or in the expression on his face. There are more ways of getting a mans thoughts than by his words. Salesmen should have an intensive training in this respect. As you come higher and higher in the executive chain of the great thinkers of the organization, this ability to make quick and certain decisions is more and more marked, as is the ability of the greater thinkers to eliminate nonessentials from their thinking. Mediocrity is burdened with nonessentials. A masterpiece of any kind is one from which all nonessentials have been eliminated. Nonessentials consume time, which fatigues, because they are not inspirational. The more one can eliminate them, the more value IBM is getting from the man, and vice versa. IBM should make a special point of teaching its men to so design their lives that this waste can be saved. All life is expressed by a series of decisions. The salesman, more than any other people in the organization, needs to learn to shift his thinking into the high speed in which he can keep ahead of his prospects thinking and always anticipate his response. A salesmans life needs to be expressed by quick decisions. Success is based on wise decisions. Wise decisions in slow speeds consume too much time. Fully half of a salesmans failures are caused by unwise decisions arrived at too quickly. The Super-thinker, to whom flashes of inspiration come by the way of intuition, has so much time to make quick and wise decisions, that he is apt to have his next decision formulated while still waiting for the speaker to finish. Technical training is necessary, but anyone can become technically trained. It represents but twenty percent of a sale at best. The other eighty percent of a sale lies in the direction of
intuition. Sadly, one hundred percent of effort is expended in training salesmen to perfect the technical twenty percent.
do the double work of lifting business ethics and in creating good will for humanitarian effort. For a while, this should be the IBM form of advertising.
CONCLUSIONS
I intend writing an analysis of IBM as an organization, to show how its balance is evidence of the intuitive perception of its creator. Mr. Watson balanced his own preponderantly inspirational direction of thinking with sufficient men whose thinking is preponderantly in the direction of product. It is amazing with what accuracy each type of mind is unerringly fitted into its place. Mr. Watson has built a world position for himself, personally, irrespective of his business. The ball which he is hurling against the world-wall has just struck its mark. It is ready for a colossal rebound. The Watsonian Principle is a demonstrated, workable reality. Publicize it so it becomes known and it will sweep through mans consciousness like a prairie fire. Do not, therefore, keep it to the level of one business, but rather as an example for all industry. Also, do not keep Mr. Watson on the plane of an industrialist, even though a great one, but rather extend his business principles as a light to lead the world out of its darkness. The purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that the planets and satellites of a system would not fall into their primaries if their motion were stayed by some giant hand. The experiment which illustrates this text was performed for the purpose of proving that initial impetus has no relation whatever to orbital revolution. It also proves that the mathematical laws for falling bodies are as applicable to the orbit of a body which is floating in a pressure gradient appropriate to its potential as they are to a body which is falling just fast enough to keep it in the same relative distance from its primary. The experiment is also intended to demonstrate that the mythical initial impulse which every mass in every kind of a system supposedly acquired from some unknown and unexplained source is in fact obtained from its primary and corresponds exactly to the loops of force which form in ever-widening striations of ever-decelerating speed (as their distance from their center increases) around a wire through which a current is passing, or to the striations of ionizing gases in a partially evacuated tube through which a high frequency current is passing, or to such spiral nebulae as the Canes Venatici, Ursa Major, Perseus and Andromeda whirlpools through which a spatial cosmic current is passing. This thesis and experiment are also intended
to prove that the commonly accepted law that like charges repel and opposite charges attract is an inconsistent and flagrant error. I contend that electricity and gravitation are one, also that magnetism and radiation are one, and that both of these forces make up the two opposing forces evident in every effect of motion. I also contend that these two opposing forces are unity, or one, expressing themselves as opposing separate forces only as they travel in opposite directions, the centripetal direction of a closing spiral, in which all attributes are endothermic, and the centrifugal direction of an opening spiral, in which all attributes are exothermic. I also contend that the electric force attracts, or contracts, or compresses, or condenses, or generates energy into solids of visible matter, while the magnetic force repels, or expands, or disintegrates, or rarifies, or degenerates energy into tenuous, invisible matter. This belief of unity of force, expressed in a continuous cycle of integration following disintegration, of generation succeeding degeneration, of the visible lifting itself out of the invisible in forever repeative cyclic intervals was published in 1926 in my book, The Universal One. This thesis has been written to take up these points with additional observations based upon experiment.
impatient horse. The heaviest and most dense ones hung near the sun and the less dense ones, and less powerfully polarized even though larger, found positions far away. Little needles found positions near larger bars, as moons find positions near planets. Invisible eddies caused a restlessness which proved that some force was at work within the group demanding that something happen to make them contented. There was one condition which was certain. None of them expressed the slightest desire to fall into the other. They were all actively polarized as all mass in nature is more or less polarized. As long as the respective poles remained in this relation the separate masses found potential positions proper to their own potentials and remained there. Each one pushed the others away from it and pulled them toward it as it oscillated impatiently back and forth out of true position. I have always contended that there is one gravitative point where every freely moving body in space has no weight nor has it any pushing power or pulling power in respect to any other mass. No mass in the universe can keep such a position when it finds it, for the impetus of its motion in getting there always carries it past that point. Also the point referred to is moving in unison with all other similar equilibrium points. An additional reason for this constant motion is the fact that every mass is constantly changing its potential and is, therefore, always moving in the continuous effort to find a true potential position in space where it can be comfortable. By comfortable, I mean a position where the pushing and pulling of the various masses are equal. If the moon or any planet could be pushed out of its position it would then have weight in respect to its primary, but not otherwise. To return to the experiment, when we turned the central bar, all the smaller ones followed the turning just as the planets turn around the sun. Just as Mercury, the very dense, hard planet near the sun, turns fast, so will the heavy, dense small bar turn fast around it. Just as the low potential, huge bulk of Jupiter revolves slowly so does the far distant large needle revolve slowly. If these bar magnets were delicately hung so that there were no resistance to the turning, each bar would also revolve on its axis. If any one was turned by its thread, any little one near it revolved around it exactly as our moon revolves around the earth. The constant change of position of these high pressure gravitative points which control the accumulation of mass around them, gives the appearance of mutual attraction and repulsion, but this effect is just an illusion of motion, for all freely moving bodies in space are in equilibrium vortex centers in respect to every other mass in the universe, and, therefore, are weightless in respect to them. This experiment was repeated on a larger scale with spheres. A large solenoid was wound in the shape of a sphere to represent the sun and surrounded by spherical substances of varying densities perforated by permanent magnets of varying strengths. To more exactly represent the conditions of the solar system, the sun was tipped a little away from vertical, and the planets hung so that their entire lengths were just below the plane of the suns equator, except the nearest and most dense one. It was then found that all of the rotating poles inclined as they do in the solar system. This experiment should convince one that bodies moving freely in space have no weight whatsoever in respect to each other. It should also convince one that the so-
caIled initial impetus is derived purely from the interchange of potential which is constantly taking place in all mass. This interchange takes place in two orderly streams, each flowing in opposite directions, one inward and the other outward. It proves also that all masses are doubly charged, there being merely a preponderance of one charge or the other. We will later show that the locations of the so-called magnetic poles of all masses determine their positive or negative preponderance. The poles of all masses of negative preponderance are the reverse of the poles of positive preponderance. Let us now take up in greater detail the principles which govern this effect of rotation and revolution of masses in equilibrium positions within a system.
Electricity corresponds in every respect to this condensing force, for it tends to shorten a line in the direction of its length. Electricity also accumulates low potential into high potential by generating high amperage of low voltage pressure into low amperage of high voltage pressure. This step-up transformation process in electrical practice exactly corresponds to the accumulation of energy in solids by generation. The generation of energy from large area into small area is a condensing, contracting, compressing effect which exactly corresponds to all electrical and all gravitational effects. Planets, suns and solar systems, electrons, protons and atomic systems are the familiar results of this force which gathers energy into smaller volumes of dense masses. Can we not reasonably and logically conclude that energy so compressed into closer integration is a plus of energy as compared with its environment from which it was condensed? If it is a plus force and if it was generated gravitatively by electric contraction, can we not reasonably classify it as a charging force? And can we not just as logically complete the analogy and identify this generating, electro-gravitational force which develops an ever-increasing pressure gradient in the direction of a common center, as an electro-positive force? If the above conclusions from familiar, observed effects are logical, are we not now in a position to state that the one and only possible direction for any of these electro-gravitational effects is the direction of mutual attraction, which is toward a common center? Observe that the arrows in Figure 3 all converge toward one common point toward which they are heading and at which they meet. We have considered the assembling force which steps up energy from the invisible universe by Natures spirally-wound transformer which contracts its windings on a centripetal journey to high pressure centers, so we can see and feel it as a visible universe of solids. Let us consider the reverse process by means of which Natures step down transformer releases that accumulated energy through the spiral windings which ever expand on the outward centrifugal journey from visibility and density to invisibility and tenuity. It is evident that visible or condensed solids of matter disappear into invisible vapors, gases or ethers by a repellant or expansive force which pushes outward from within against a resistant force which pulls inward from within. That repellant force which we call radiation corresponds to this force, for it disintegrates solid, integrated matter which has been compressed into small volume, into large volume. The magnetic field of a generated force exactly corresponds in every respect to this expanding, tearing down attempt of Nature to disassemble her assembled solids. What is a magnetic field? Is it not plain to see that it is the degeneration of a generated force which ever weakens as its distance from its source increases? If the electric oscillation of an electro-magnetic wave is the generative oscillation which increases in force toward its core, does it not follow that the magnetic oscillation must necessarily be the degenerative oscillation which repels? If this is so, then is it proper to name the field which surrounds a generating current, a magnetic field? Is it not as properly an electro-magnetic field as a wave is an electro-
magnetic wave because it exerts force in two directions? And is not the electric oscillation of that field the one which pumps force with ever increasing acceleration toward the plus of high pressure and, conversely, is not the magnetic oscillation the one which pumps force with ever increasing deceleration in the opposite direction toward the minus of low pressure? And does not the ratio of deceleration and acceleration of these opposite effects exactly correspond to the acceleration and deceleration ratios of all gravitational and radiational effects? Magnetism, then, instead of being the attractive force which its name implies, is that decelerative, repellant force which tends not only to lengthen a line in the direction of its length, but to expand and retard that line in every outward direction. If this is so, it necessarily follows that it is the opposite of the inductive force which hastens this time dimension of force by covering equal distances in less time. Magnetism dissipates high potential into low potential by degenerating high voltage pressure of low amperage into low voltage pressure of high amperage. This step down transformation process in electric practice exactly corresponds to the release of energy in mass by radiation. This degeneration of energy from small area into large area is a rarifying, evaporating, dissolving, expanding effect which exactly corresponds to all magnetic and all radiational effects. Invisibility, vapors, gases, and the pressure gradient of space are the familiar results of this repellant force which always occupies the outside insulating position of non-solidity which surrounds solid masses as a protective environment of ever-lowering conductivity. Can we not reasonably and logically conclude that energy so rarified by the expansion of radiation is a minus force as compared with the condensed mass which it surrounds? And can we not just as logically complete the analogy and identify this degenerating magneto-radiational discharging force which evidences an ever weakening pressure gradient as an electro-negative (or, more properly, a magneto-negative) force? If the above conclusions from familiar observed effects are logical, are we not now in a position to state that the one and only possible direction for any of these magneto-radiational effects is the direction of mutual repulsion, which is outward from a common center, as shown in Figure 4? It is an experimentally proved and admitted fact that any electric current exerts itself in two directions. It is admitted that an electric current does not flow until polarization begins or that polarization begins when an electric current begins, and also that the strength of the current increases simultaneously with an increase in the charge or moment or strength of the poles. It is also equally admitted that any potential either greater or less than the potential which it displaces seeks opposite directions. It is known that one of these directions results in charging both potentials and the other direction discharges both. In the face of this evidence in observed effects, it is reasonable to state that there is a generoactive, positive force which acts simultaneously with the recognized negative, radioactive force. If the positive force is a charging force and the negative force a discharging force, is it proper to refer to negative charge in a mass when there can be no such thing as negative charge? We must properly define this force as negative discharge.
This brings us to an effect which is one of the most obvious of Natures effects but which is stoutly denied by the modern physicist, that every mass in Nature is doubly charged. We know that all organic life is both male and female, each individual or cell being just preponderantly male or female. We know that all generating bodies or currents are simultaneously radiating. We know that all heating bodies are cooling through radiation, and that all cooling bodies are heating through contraction. We see everywhere in Nature, especially on our planet, the generative effect of charging, and the simultaneous degenerating effect of discharging, yet the modern physicist insists, although he finds no precedent in nature, that an entire body is either negatively or positively charged. He defines a negatively charged body as one which has added some electrons, and a positively charged body as one which has lost some electrons. Natures electrical practice is obviously different from this supposed state of facts. The theory is, probably, inherited with the old theory that the universe is running down gradually and not winding itself up simultaneously to balance its degeneration. Does it not seem more rational to suppose that the formation of every mass in nature is the result of a pressure gradient developed by the solenoid principle which first steps energy up to ever-increasing pressure; and that the destruction of that mass is caused by a preponderance of the discharging force which then steps it down to an equilibrium? The sun is contracting. That means that it is not mature, not having yet reached the equilibrium limit of its wave impulse. We know this to be true for it has not yet become a sphere, nor has its magnetic pole coincided with its pole of rotation, as it will when this solar system has reached the amplitude position of its wave. It is still winding more tightly the spiral turns of its step up transformer principle, which increases the number of its turns and so narrows up the spaces between them exactly as a clock spring would tighten as it winds up. This is the generoactive principle of nature which we recognize in our mechanical equivalent as a solenoid. We know that an electric current centripetally passed through a spirally coiled wire to a central point, transforms a given quantum of potential energy which is distributed over a large area under low pressure, into a spiral pressure gradient culminating in exceedingly high pressure at its core. We know also that a flux of lines of force radiate in an outward direction from a common center. We know also that the voltage pressure of the field of pressure which surrounds the solenoid, gradually lowers until it reaches an equilibrium, then reverses its direction and returns to the opposite pole from which it was ejected. We know also that if another solenoid coil or a hundred of them were placed near by, the radiated energy from each would interchange with more or less difficulty according to the conductivity of the insulating medium with which every solid surrounds itself. Pressure or density of this atmospheric insulator determines its conductivity and inductivity, which are two directions of the same thing. Proximity determines the strength of the fields between solids, and density determines proximity. Let us then consider the sun as a huge solenoid which steps up its energy to high pressure toward its core and steps it down to low pressure out in space. In the first instance, the energy
of increasing pressure is generated, and in the second instance, it is radiated. When radiated energy leaves any charging body, whether it be a sun, planet, bar of steel, solenoid or storage battery, it is a discharge in respect to the body from which it has been ejected. When that radiated energy changes its mutually repellant lines of divergence at an equilibrium point between the ejecting mass which discharged it to mutually attractive, converging lines which head toward the gravitative center of the next mass, is it not plain to see that the negative discharging force of radiation becomes a positive charging force of gravitation? Is it not apparent that the energy stepped down from the sun, for example, which we call radiant energy, is converted into generative energy as it steps up its voltage pressure in our planet? Is it not perfectly plain that the direction of a step down transformation of energy is exactly the opposite direction of that taken by a step up transformer? Is it not evident that a charging force moves in the opposite direction from a discharging force? If these premises are well founded, is it not impossible for a charging force to be attracted by a discharging force? How then did the error creep into our consciousness? Is it not the same reasoning that once convinced men that the earth was flat because they said I see it with my own eyes? For an illustration of the practical workings of the solenoid principle, let us imagine a room of one thousand cubic feet. Within that room is a certain quantum of potential energy expressed as air pressure which we will define as X quantity. In its expanded state of uniform, equal pressure, this energy will do no work. If, however, a tank of one cubic foot were placed at the center of the room and all of the air content of the room were pumped into that tank, the energy so pumped in would be equivalent to stepped up electrical energy while on the inward Journey. It would also be equivalent to a charging or generating force. It would be a positive force, for all lines of force are mutually attracting toward a common center of greater density. It would also perform work while being compressed. If this energy were released through a small tube, it would perform work for a long time, but if discharged through a large tube, it would perform the same amount of work in a short time. It would then be a negative, or discharging force, for all lines are mutually repelling toward an expanded area of lower density. The X quantum of energy would still remain the same; the only difference would be that it had been divided into two pressures, a low pressure and a high pressure which is equivalent to a low potential and a high potential, or to vacuity and density. This is all that Nature does to perform work, whether to create a storm or a solar system. Whenever one equilibrium pressure is divided into two opposing pressures, each one of the two tries to destroy the other in order that they may each return to the stability of an equilibrium. It is this universal desire of all force to return to its potential state of stability in equilibrium which performs all of the work of the universe. This is a universal law applicable to everything in Nature. If a man, for example, is made comfortable and thoroughly at ease, he is deprived of the incentive for work. Make him uncomfortable or place him in danger and he becomes intensively active until his stability is recovered.
Our solar system is composed of a series of generated solids of compressed energy all of which are in their comfortable and appropriate potential positions of the moment, but are constantly changing to the proper potential positions of the next moment. A condition or position of stability is impossible to maintain in this universe of changing potential between any two masses. Constant readjustment of potential demands constant readjustment of position. Let us assume that the tank of air above described was surrounded by a circle of others and connected by tubes of lessening diameter. The discharge of the high pressure tank would charge the next one and discharge into the succeeding one, and so on until the entire X quantity of energy was all short circuited into an equilibrium. During this process of continuing motion, wheels could be made to turn between the tanks. When the energy became equalized, motion and work would both cease. In this same manner, the sun steps down its own energy along its equatorial belt by radioactive discharge and steps it up for Mercury by generoactive charge just as the human voice is stepped down into disappearance and condensed again by radio or the cliff side. Mercurys negative discharge becomes positive charge for Venus. And so on, all down the pressure gradient of the system down to Neptune, and beyond, the energy of the high pressure vortex of generated energy in the sun is utilized to the last volt in repeative sequences as it escapes from the suns exhaust at its hot equator and returns as regenerated energy to its relatively cold poles, and to the cold poles of all the planets. Nature does not waste one volt of pressure in an entire solar system, or in a Milky Way, or in ten thousand galaxies. All of it is regenerated for re-radiation forever and forever.
I want to be a great person. I want my individuality to shine out like a brilliant sun. I feel the glory of creation in me. I am inspired to do great things and seek great heights. I want to be new, original, unique, a tower of strength, an oracle of wisdom, and a flowing fountain of knowledge. I feel the inspiration of genius within me. How can I develop it? How can I satisfy my own expectations of myself? How I can be a great individual, a powerful individual? In such words an ardent, thoroughly alive youth, burning with the inner fires of laudable ambition appealed to an older one, who knew the way, to direct him to the road of life which leads to the mountain top. You have asked a universal question, came the answer. Your desire is an instinctive urge for creative expression which is with every normally ambitious human. It is the age-old search for the power that lies within the individual Self. That ceaseless search for the individual Self is the supreme quest of man, the supreme urge of all time. It underlies all religion, all achievement, and all human relations. It is the motivating
force which keeps man going, urges him forward, ever forcing him to climb the mountain of life. The great majority of people who seek that power make the mistake of seeking for it in but one direction, and there are two. He who has finally succeeded in finding that priceless innerprinciple does so only by learning how to lose it. A fundamental law of Nature demands that one learn how to lose his life in order to find it, or learn to unbind and set free in order to possess, or learn to give in order to be enabled to take. If you make the mistake of seeking greatness in the one direction of your ego instead of balancing that search by seeking in the opposite direction toward the universal ego, you will fail to find it. You cannot multiply yourself by yourself. You must divide yourself and distribute it into all other Selves through service and experiences. You will then take them back multiplied a thousandfold. In other words, if you want to be a rare person, you must learn how to entirely lose the very idea of greatness in humility. You cannot become great by accumulating greatness. You can find it only by learning how to transform humility into greatness. Instead of contemplating the greatness of your individuality, contemplate your littleness in the universe. It is the meek who inherit the earth. Greatness springs from meekness. Every effect in Nature springs from its opposite effect and never from itself. This principle is universal. It applies to all things, both spiritual and physical. Heat is accumulated by multiplying cold. Refrigeration necessitates dividing heat by radiating it. High electric potential is stepped up from low by multiplying low. Conversely, low is obtained by dividing the high. All power is multiplied weakness, whether physical or spiritual. To shorten the journey ahead, you must lengthen the distance behind. To spring, you must first stoop. To concentrate, you must first decentrate. To focus to a multiplied point, you must gather from a divided area. The water you drink also drinks you. The fruit of the tree is gathered from an extensive environment, for the fruit is not in itself. It must be divided and spread out before it can be again gathered. The acorn must disintegrate to reintegrate. It cannot multiply itself into a strong tree without dividing itself into the many parts of the whole universe. You must learn that lesson from Nature and apply it to your own self-multiplication. Your achievements are not in you. They flow through you from the universe. You must, therefore, open yourself to the universe and invite its flow of power through you. You then gather it to a point within you and weave its new pattern by your thinking. You, yourself, are not Power nor are you Achievement. You are but the focusing point of power, the interpreter of a universal expression. To express your Self by achievement, you must be a focus of the Universe. You must learn to gather your Light from the darkness, as Nature gathers its suns from space. Nature tells us these things plainly, but there are few thinkers who stop, look, and listen to her teachings.
The greatest individuals in the world are the most universal and the most humble. The genius is one who learns that his power is not in generating that which he has, but in regenerating that which he gives. The fool who thinks he can generate power by generating himself camouflages his failure with arrogance. Greatness is not the accentuation of self, but of all Selves flowing through one. Do not, therefore, seek self-expression through your Self alone, for you will find but little to express. But if you lose your Self in the whole universe, you have the whole universe flowing through you to seek expression.
LIGHT
WRITTEN BY WALTER RUSSELL ON APRIL 21, 2006. POSTED IN SCIENCE
Light is all there is in the spiritual universe of knowing, and simulation of that light in opposite extensions is all there is in the electric wave universe of sensing. The simulation of light in matter is not light. There is no light in matter. Perhaps the confusion which attends this idea would be lessened if we classify everything concerning the spiritual universe, such as life, intelligence, truth, power, knowledge and balance as being the One Light of Knowing, and everything concerning matter and motion as being the two simulated lights of thinking. Thinking expresses knowing in matter but matter does not think, nor does it know. Thinking also expresses life, truth, idea, power and balance by recording the ideas of those qualities in the two lights of matter in motion, but matter does not live, nor is it truth, balance or idea, even though it simulates those spiritual qualities. Mans confusion concerning this differentiation lies in his, long assumption of the reality of matter. His assumption that his body is his Self, that his knowledge is in his brain, and that he lives and dies because his body integrates and disintegrates, has been so fundamental a part of his thinking that it is difficult for him to reverse his thinking to the fact that matter is but motion and has no reality beyond simulating reality. The light which we think we see is but motion. We do not see light. We feel the wave vibrations set up by the motion that simulates light, but the motion of electric waves that simulate light is not that which it simulates.
charges mass and discharges space. When directed toward space it charges space and discharges mass. All direction of force in Nature is spiral. The charging condition is positive. It multiplies speed of motion into density of substance. The principle of multiplication of motion because of decrease of volume is the cause of the acceleration of gravity. The discharging condition is negative. It divides speed of motion into tenuity of substance. The principle of the division of motion because of expansion of volume is the cause of the deceleration of radiation. One can better comprehend this principle by knowing that what we call substance is purely motion. Motion simulates substance by its variation of pressures, its speed and its gyroscopic relation to its wave axis. Particles are variously conditioned as to pressure but there are no different kinds of particles. All are light waves wound up into particles that are doubly charged. Their position at any one point in their wave causes them to have the electric condition appropriate for that point. Light particles are forever moving in their octave waves. All are either heading toward their cathode or their anode, which means toward vacuity or gravity. They are all moving either inward or outward, spirally.
SEMI-CYCLIC ALTERATION
In an electric current there is a constant interchange between anode and cathode or positive and negative poles. A light particle expands as it leaves the cathode in an outward radial direction and contracts as it radially approaches the anode. This light particle has been the
same light particle at all times in all parts of its journey. Its variation of charge and discharge, its direction of motion and the condition of wave pressure in which it finds itself at all times are the sole reasons for its changing from one condition to another. The light particles are all the same light particles, all being different only in pressure condition. This is also true of the elements of matter. Whether they be iron, carbon, silicon, bismuth or radium, all are composed of the same kind of light particles. They all seem to have different qualities and attributes, but those qualities and attributes are likewise given to them purely by the positions they occupy in their waves.
begin to converge again toward our center of gravity into ever smaller wave fields. The heat we feel and the light we see is dependent entirely upon the ability of the wave fields to reproduce the light and heat, and that ability is conditioned upon the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. If there were no moisture in the atmosphere, our bodies would carbonize from the heat thus reproduced. One cannot consistently think of that heat as direct rays of the sun, for that same sunlight was intensely cold during its reproduced journey through the immensely expanded wave fields of space between the sun and earth. The light and heat that appear to come from the star or sun have never left the star or sun. That which man sees as light and feels as heat is the reproduced counterpart of the light and heat that is its cause. The rate of vibration in a wave field depends upon its volume. Vibration in a wave field means the pulse of interchange between its compressed core and the space surrounding that core. A slow vibration in a large wave field would cool ones body, or even freeze it, while fast pulsing interchange in extremely small wave fields could burn ones body. A lens that multiplies light and heat toward a focal point which sets paper on fire merely compresses larger wave fields into smaller ones. The rate of vibration increases for the same reason that the planets nearest the sun move much faster in their small orbits than those that are far away from the sun. Keplers law covering the speeds of planets will apply to rates of vibration in wave fields as appropriately as with the movements in the solar system.
In this New Age philosophy of the spiritual re-awakening of man, it is necessary that he acquire a greater awareness of knowledge which is the basis of the spirit-that God Quality which is recorded in his soul, always increasing as his power to acquire it increases. Mans knowledge is his power. The expression of that power is in his thinking. As man gradually acquires more knowledge from the Source, his thinking power increases in proportion so that he may express his increasing knowledge. Thinking is not knowledge, therefore, thinking is not power. Thinking is an electric wave extension from the centering fulcrum of knowledge which divides knowledge into ideas and sets those ideas in motion to create forms and products of knowledge through expressed ideas. Mans knowledge is like a deep well of still water. His thinking is like a two-way pump which divides the quality of that stillness into quantities of parts and sets them flowing. That is what the physical universe is: quantities of many seemingly separated moving things extended from the one quality of unity in God-and each one is forever seeking to find that unity.
Knowledge is the foundation of mans concepts. Thinking transfers his concepts into product. The quality of his product depends upon the quality of knowledge and not upon the quality or quantity of his thinking. Water cannot be drawn from an empty well, nor can clear water be drawn from a muddied well. Likewise good product cannot come from thinking without knowledge or understanding to back that thinking. Knowledge cannot be acquired from without. It is acquired from within through recollection, recognition, intuition, or inspiration, which is the language of the spirit. Knowledge should not be confused with information. Information belongs to effect, and knowledge to cause. Just as food in the grocery store is not nourishment until its essentials are converted to the blood stream, likewise information is not knowledge until its essentials, which are cause in it, are recognized by the spirit as eternal truth. A musician cannot teach another to become a musician. He can but inform the pupil of the technique of music, but music itself is of the soul. He may re-inspire the pupil with his inspiration but cannot otherwise transfer his inspiration to his pupil. Mans purpose in this New Age is to acquire more and more knowledge, to manifest his unity with his creator in accomplishing the unity of man.
EDITORS NOTE:
In the era in which Walter Russell was writing, convention dictated the use of the word man when speaking of men, women, and children. To change this original wording of this article was to change the dynamics of Walter Russells own expression; therefore the historic convention is retained. Walter and Lao Russell were in advance of their time in promoting the equality of men and women. In the 1930s, he suggested that IBM invite the employees spouses to attend meetings. In the 1950s, Lao Russell organized The Man-Woman Equality League. The entire Russell philosophy is built upon the principle of male-female balance in all aspects of human life and interactions-and in fact throughout both the microcosm and macrocosm of all aspects of life in general. Therefore, throughout the entire body of the Russell writing, the word man is fully intended, as traditionally used, to be thought of as man-woman.
