CALL FOR AUTHORS

Chartridge Books Oxford

Open Access Publishing www.chartridgebooksoxford.com

Chartridge Books Oxford operates a new, open access publishing model. We aim to disseminate scholarly books and other research material as widely as possible, in all subject areas, on an international basis. Our publishing model is based on highly rigorous, independent and external peer review. If you have written a work and are interested in submitting it for possible publication, we would be delighted to hear from you. Details of how to contact us are at the end of this Call for Authors document. We are interested in publishing both scholarly research monographs and, importantly, other material such as working papers, reviews and conference proceedings. We are also particularly interested in publishing short books that, in terms of extent, fall somewhere between a journal article and a traditional monograph. We feel that our open access publishing model and the flexible approach to the length of the material we publish liberates authors and researchers from traditional forms of publishing. The new Chartridge Books Oxford open access model publishes scholarly and research material on the following basis: Available, as a PDF, on an open access basis. As well as our publications being made available on an open access basis, they are also available as a printed book and in an enhanced ebook format (and made available to read on most of the major ereaders such as Kindle, iPad, Kobo and Nook etc.). Worldwide distribution: our print and enhanced ebooks are made available through all of the major wholesale and retail channels worldwide.

For authors, the advantages of the Chartridge Books Oxford publishing model are as follows: With the material we publish being available on a fully open access basis, this permits researchers to access such material with ease. Authors retain the copyright of their work and how it is used. Our material is published under a Creative Commons License.

Detailed, thorough and demanding external peer review processes. Our print and enhanced ebooks are priced at comparatively low list prices and distributed worldwide. We have streamlined our production process so, whilst maintaining the highest possible editorial standards, we are able to shorten the period between submitting a manuscript and the material being published (this can be an important factor for researchers who need their book to be published in time for research assessment processes, tenure etc.).

Chartridge Books Oxford has appointed an Editorial Board of senior academics involved in open access to advise us on our editorial policy. Members of the Editorial Board include: Anne Langley: Princeton University; Head Librarian, Science and Technology Libraries; Director of Scholarly Communication. Professor David Solomon: Michigan State University, Department of Medicine and the Office of Medical Education, Research and Development; founding Board Member, Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (2008 to 2010). Professor Jane Klobas: Dondena Fellow at Bocconi University, Italy and Adjunct Professor, Murdoch University, Australia; Visiting Professor (2012-2013) at University of Malaya, Malaysia, and University of Bergamo Italy. Education and research consultant.
