Task: Change a famous Greek or Roman myth into a comic strip format.
Preparation
(A) Read a few myths and select the one you want to convert.
(B) Write a paragraph explaining why you chose the myth from the ones
you read.
(C) Research comic strip writing and drawing. Think about the style that
best fits your myth. Sketch different styles in your notebook. Record useful
links on your blog.
(D) Read your myth very carefully and look up any words you do not
understand.
Planning and story-boarding
(i) Read your myth again and list the main events in
the story.
(ii) Using simple drawings create a draft of your comic
strip and add all the dialogue and narration.
(iii) Read the criteria below again carefully and make
changes if you notice something could be better.
(iv) Get the opinions of others. Swap with a peer and
show your draft to the teacher.
(v) Make final changes to the draft.
(vi) Do you need to add or remove any panels?
Publish
Now you are ready to draw and create your final
storyboard. Do this carefully and add colour as
required. Use A4 paper. Scan your comic strip and
add to your English blog as a portfolio piece.
