Multiple Subscriber Number (MSN) with Different Ringing

1 Denition
The Multiple Subscriber Number (MSN) with Different Ringing feature provides the possibility of assigning up to 4 directory numbers to an access. The network node handles each MSN as an independent subscriber number, each of which may have its own features. Incoming calls to each number can be signaled with different ringing sequences, so that the number dialed can be immediately recognized acoustically (e.g. office or private).

2 Mode of operation
Up to four different directory numbers can be created simultaneously for one subscriber line (one primary number and up to three secondary numbers) using the Multiple Subscriber Number (MSN) with Different Ringing feature. Each of the numbers should be assigned a different ringing sequence (see Different ringing sequences). The seizure of a subscriber line with multiple subscriber numbers is handled in the same way as that of a line with one number only. Outgoing calls relate to the primary number; there is therefore no difference between a line with multiple directory numbers and a line with one number only. Call charges are registered under the primary number. There are two ways of activating and deactivating other features. Group option (default) Actions to activate or deactivate a feature apply to all directory numbers assigned to the line. Inputs by the subscriber for status request are not possible. Directory number option Inputs by the subscriber in relation to a feature only apply to the specied number (status requests are possible). Outgoing calls, however, relate to the primary number. Different ringing sequences Each directory number can be assigned one of 4 different ringing sequences. The subscriber is then able to recognize which of the numbers has been called or at which number a call is waiting. The administrator can, at the request of the subscriber, assign a specific ringing sequence to a subscriber line with only one (the first) directory number. A default ringing sequence is used for all calls, unless the operator makes an input to the contrary. Ringing sequences 1 to 3 can be selected instead of the default. Authorization for different ringing is assigned on a per-line basis; ringing sequences are assigned individually to each directory number. The various ringing sequences can be assigned to the different directory numbers in any combination as required. Different ringing sequences cannot be applied simultaneously.

4 Call charge registration

Call charge registration is possible with: Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration Pulse Metering Flat rate Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration (AMA) and Pulse Metering can be combined. One or more call charge pulses can be generated for pulse metering. Charges for feature input and feature usage The charges for operator inputs, successful subscriber controlled input and feature usage are assigned to the subscriber. The following call charge registration is possible: Facility input by operator (FAIO) Facility input by subscriber (FAIS) Facility usage (FAU) Action Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Assign authorization Remove authorization Assign authorization to modify Remove authorization to modify Status request, data request Use Call charges for connections using MSN With normal outgoing calls and features working in an outgoing direction, charges are registered under the primary number. With features working in an incoming direction, such as call forwarding, alarm call service and malicious call identification, the charges can be recorded under the called secondary directory number. Call charges for connections using options Group option After a subscriber controlled input, charges are registered under the primary number. In the case of AMA, only one record is generated for all activations and deactivations within the group. Directory number option The charges are assigned to the specied directory number. If AMA records are generated, they contain this directory number. FAIO --------X X --------FAIS --------------------FAU ---------------------

5 Administration
The operator can perform all administration functions on the NetManager by means of user-friendly applications or MML commands. Feature authorization The network operator assigns authorization for the feature when requested by the subscriber. Subscriber access types The feature can be used with the following types of subscriber access: Type Subscriber Analog Main station Basic access PBX PBX with BA and/or PA PBX line PBX line with Direct Dialing In (DDI) PBX line, connected like a subscriber Coinbox Emergency call station MLHG line Basic attendant console MAC attendant console Call charge registration For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-TA. Subscriber administration A primary number cannot be changed into a secondary number, and vice versa. Before the equipment number of a line with authorization for MSN can be changed, the secondary numbers must first be deleted. For more information, please refer to OMN:EXCH-SU.
