ProfCast Student Instruction Guide Learning Goal #1: Locate and launch ProfCast on computer and create a new

recording file. -Locate ProfCast. -Open ProfCast and create a new recording file.
1-Double-click on hard drive icon on computer desktop.

2-Double-click on Applications icon.

3-Locate Profcast in the Applications list.

4-Double-click on ProfCast icon to launch application. 5-Click on Create a new recording from the welcome screen.

1- Click on microphone icon in untitled recording window.

2- Select the built-in microphone option from the drop-down menu.

3- Locate the microphone level control slider in recording window. 4- Adjust slider control while speaking. 5- Set microphone level to the green-yellow zone of bar.

2- Select the Logitech USB headset microphone option from the drop-down menu.

incorporating use of the pause function in ProfCast.

1- Click start recording button in untitled recording window. 2- Speak in a normal voice for a few seconds.

3- Click pause recording button in untitled recording window.

4- Click resume recording button in untitled recording window. 5- Speak in a normal voice for a few additional seconds.

6- Close the test recording file. -click red close button in upper left corner of recording window. -select dont save button from the dialog box.

7-Select New Recording from the ProfCast File menu.

recording file and record the enhanced podcast presentation.
1- Click on + sign in recording window.

2- Locate slide file from the browse window, select and click open.

3- Click start recording button and record the presentation.

4- Practice using the pause function by clicking the pause recording button.

5- Click the resume button when ready.

6- Click end recording button when presentation is completed.

presentation.
1- Click start recording button and record the presentation.

2- Practice using the pause function by clicking the pause recording button.

3- Click the resume button when ready.

4- Click the share button when presentation is completed.

and add tags (if needed).
1-Click Quicktime icon at the top of the share window.

2- Confirm whether the presentation is audio-only or an enhanced podcast. - If audio-only podcast is needed select m4a format from drop-down menu options.

- If enhanced podcast is needed select m4v format from drop-down menu options.

3- Determine if podcast will be posted on university iTunes U site. - Add desired tags from share window text fields if posting on iTunes U.

4- Select OK from the share window.

5- Name podcast file in the Save as text field.

6- Browse to the save location where the file will be stored.

7- Click Save button to generate the podcast file.

1- Locate your saved podcast file. 2- Double-click the podcast file icon.

3- Listen to/view podcast. 4- Evaluate podcast (for both quality of recording and performance of lecture).

1- Select Save from ProfCast file menu.

2- Name ProCast file in the Save As text field.

3- Select save location from browse window.

4- Click Save button.
