Preparing for Gods Word

ORGAN PRELUDE: Rise Up and Serve the Lord CHORAL INTROIT
Walter

*CALL to WORSHIP Blindness has often been spoken of as a symbol of our inability to see our spiritual way. Spiritual blindness affects our response to follow Christ Jesus in the Way of the Cross. The blind people, whom Jesus healed, were healed because of their faith. So it is with our discipleship. By faith, we come to Jesus, ready to follow in the path of discipleship which He will show us! Come, let us see again the Christ in this past Christmas! *HYMN #242G O Sing a Song of Bethlehem *CALL TO and PRAYER of CONFESSION We try to make discipleship attractive, O Father God, so that more people will follow Jesus! But we become blind to the Way of the Cross which Jesus took, and which He calls us to follow. Fogive us when we have disguised His glory with comfort, instead of offering the sacrifice necessary for being true to our Lord. Cure us of our spiritual blindness, that we may see it was the cross, and not the miracles, which made Jesus our Savior. We pray this through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in whose name we now confess silently... *ASSURANCE of PARDON and *GLORIA PATRI (#733) *AFFIRMATION of FAITH- Apostles Creed (back)

Please keep these ministries in your prayers.

Disciples Pantry is located at Asbury United Methodist Church in Woodstown and exists in our community to help feed the hungry. People are able to come and pick up food for themselves and their families. It is given freely and with Christs love. We support them through canned good drives, Crop Walk and Garden for God. Peters Pantry is located at Elmer United Methodist Church and also exists in our community to help feed the hungry. The Pantry is a food bank serving emergency needs, serving as a stopgap measure for someone awaiting public assistance and serving families that can not make it to the end of the month. Every client receives a standard order of food and a voucher for specific food items at the local grocery store. Oasis Soup Kitchen is an outreach of Spirit Life Fellowship Church on East Broadway in Salem. They first opened their doors in 1991 to provide hot food for those in need. They closed their doors in 2007 but reopened in 2009 due to the economic downturn. We have supported them through donations from our Garden for God.

THE APOSTLES CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
