Dictionary Project
All of our dictionaries have been delivered. The students and their teachers were noticeably excited & grateful. One class even asked for all of the Rotarians autographs! I hope the celebrity status doesn't go to their heads These dictionaries have the longest word in the English language, which is over 1,000 letters! It's fun to see their jaws drop when we tell them that it will be on their next spelling test.

Laughter Is the Best Medicine

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang.Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a cargoing the wrong way on 280 Interstate. Please be careful!" "It's not just one car," said Herman. "It's hundreds of them!"

October is Vocational Service Month

Vocational Service focuses on: Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors, and the public. The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians. The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community. During October, Rotarians are encouraged to focus on this important avenue of Rotary service. Discussions on vocational service can lead to projects that not only develop the ethical consciousness and vocational skills of Rotarians but also the talents within their communities. Vocational Service Month is an opportunity to begin year-long vocational service activities, ranging from Rotary discussions to awards to community projects. Vocational grants are available to those deserving individuals who need financial assistance pursuing their vocational choice.
