ATCA is an open platform/standard framework for building high capacity, high performance & high network availability Network Equipment Building System.

Introduction

ATCA system is constructed with 3 zones:

Zone 3: Rear I/O Panel Interconnect Zone2: Keying/Alignm ent Sync Clocks Update Channels Fabric Interface Base Interface

Zone 1: Power Management

ATCA Form Factor

High form factor 8U High power capability 200 W Blade Capacity to perform complex functions & high density configuration. Redundant Fabric, Redundant Power & hot swap capabilities reduce sensitivity to single point failure & provide robust Network availability. AMC(Advanced Mezzanine Card) is a daughter board which can be attached to ATCA carrier board, to upgrade the capacity or to increase channels.

Features

ATCA Switch fabric support full mesh interconnect. ATCA switch fabric provide peak throughput of 10Gbps/link. enhances availability by enabling each blade to communicate simultaneously via dedicated channel with each other blade. Any switch fabric that support point to point 100 differential interconnect can be used within a ATCA backplane.

Network uptime is critical issue for any telecom equipment/carrier. Unplanned network outages lead to:

High Availability, serviceability & redundancy. ATCA design ensures low MTTR(Mean Time To Restoration) & high MTBF(Mean Time Between Failures). No Active element in ATCA Backplane Hot Swap capabilities & Power manageability of shelf Field replaceable units(FRUs) & control by shelf management Controller(ShMC), ensures failure on device doesnt impact the whole system. All critical equipment are front serviceable.

Reduced customer satisfaction Reduced sales Breaches in SLAs(Service Level Agreement).
