GRADING RESULTSDECEMBER 2012

Term Four saw a large grading, with four new Black Belts, and four of the Thaisen family promoting to 3rd Dan. It was our biggest collective of Yellow Belt gradings ever! However, there were still a lot of members stuck with just a few things to sign off. Term One 2013 is a short term, so we are planning two gradings, one in week four, and the final grading in week eight. This will be one week before the end of term, so please be prepared! BLACK BELT 3rd Dan Erik, Marilyn, Zac and Andre Thaisen all passed their 3rd Dan gradings. With all achieving a high standard, and younger brother Christian completing his practice grading, it was an outstanding achievement. In another family affair, father and daughter Gary and Jessica also performed at a very high level to pass their Black Belt gradings. Unfortunately Jessica had to grade early as she was overseas when the others graded, so we will have to wait for next year to get the Father and Daughter photo opportunity. Ben, Luke and Jess are ten, eleven and twelve years old, respectively.

COMPETITION RESULTS
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS / NATIONAL FESTIVAL SYDNEY SEPTEMBER 2012 The National Taekwondo Festival is a three day event for all colour belts, and for Black Belts competing in more relaxed fun events. The National Championships is a Black Belt event that was conducted on Saturday 29th September. The MTC results at each were amazing, winning more Gold medals at the Championships than any other club! In Poomsae, Doncaster branch won 5 Gold and 2 Silver medals! Congratulations to Renee, Melissa and Bronwyn (Individual Gold), plus Grant & Melissa (Pair Gold), and Bronwyn in a team with Pat and Anita from other clubs (Team Gold). Grant also won the Individual Silver, and Melissa, Christina & Renee won the Team Silver. Full results are on the MTC website. In Sparring, Lok Yi won Bronze in the Championships, and Stephen Knot won Silver in the Festival.

NSW OPEN DECEMBER 9 - 2012

A small group attended the NSW Open competition to compete in a variety of Technical events. Congratulations to Bronwyn, Cheryl and Grant from Doncaster branch, as well as Lachlan Mackay (MTC Rowville) and Jensen Lai (JB Taekwondo), who won a total of 18 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze. In the Champion of Champions event, Bronwyn was 1st and Grant 3rd in the 30 plus event, while Lachlan was 1st, Jensen 2nd and Cheryl 4th in the 14-29 event. Well done everyone!
