Green Tunnel

My design influences were mainly based on these precedent studies. Each has to do with Milwaukee St. transportation, the first two being trains, while the last deals with cars. The Green tunnel Argonaut building helped with the initial thought of wayfinding and an arched frame structure. The Marais Musee Dorsay solidified this idea as an examBaltimore St. ple to be based off of. Finally, the Oasis solved Parking Structure the problem of connecting the two sides of the building and extending the platform over Woodward. High Speed Rail Pedestrian Bus Automobile Light Rail

Marais Musee Dorsay The circulation plan is based on the many modes of transportation each of which had to be solved so none overwhelmed the site with pedestrian traffic. The main axis of circulation is straight through the site, with minor axes at the plaza, green space, and multiple inside the building. Highway Oasis

The floorplans are a simple plan based off of major and minor axes. Public areas are near the major axes while employee and other private spaces are closer to the minor axes and further from natural light. The second floor shows a very open plan with platforms and waiting areas.

The sections give an idea of how large this structure really is. It also shows how large the shell of the middle structure is compared to the rest of the building. The second section really shows how the platform and structure extend over Woodward Ave.

This rendering shows the plaza and the main way of getting into the building. The different material used for the main axis gives a very clear wayfinding path for visitors to know where the main entrance is. Another cue is the glass facade, and how it gets more and more open as you get closer to that main entrance

The middle platform for the high-speed rail is shown in this rendering. It gives a sense of how big the shell of this structure will be. It also shows how much natural light enters into this platform area. Trees will be able to grow on the middle platform lending to an inviting area just before boarding. This rendering shows Woodward Ave. looking towards the building. The platform extends over the overpass for an exciting view for both drivers on Woodward and for the people queuing up to get on the high-speed rail.
