THE MAGIC WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

Harry Potter is an only child. He is an orphan : Voldemort also known as You-Know-Who killed his parents when he was a baby. Thanks to his mother, Harry survived, but he has a scar on his forehead. At the age of eleven, he learns that his parents were wizards. He goes to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a school for young wizards. At Hogwarts he has all kinds of classes : Charms, Transfiguration, Herbs and Potions, Defence Against the Dark Arts. Some of these classes are very difficult. But Harry is naturally good at flying a broom and is a champion at the game of Quidditch. He uses his magical powers against Voldemorts evil powers. Hermione Granger is a very bright pupil at Hogwarts. She can always answer the teachers questions. She is polite, obedient and hardworking. She becomes one of Harrys close friends and he can rely on her when he is in trouble. She isnt selfish at all. She likes Harry very much and she takes risks for him. Ron Weasley comes from a large family that doesnt have a lot of money but a lot of heart. But when someone gets on his nerves he can be a bit aggressive. He is not as polite as Hermione, and he can even be quite rude. When he enters Hogwarts, three of his brothers are already in the school. Harry, Hermione and Ron form an inseparable trio. Professor Dumbledore is the Headmaster of the school. This very respected wizard is a hundred and fifty years old. Harrys father was one of his students. He doesnt get angry easily and he is optimistic. He is very powerful, and he protects Harry against their common enemy : Voldemort. Rubeus Hagrid is a friendly giant. He has wild shaggy hair, a beard and black eyes. He is the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. He takes care of everything at Hogwarts : the animals, the gardens, the forests. He loves animals and nature. He is very kind, gentle and sensitive. He likes cooking but isnt good at it. He is very fond of Harry. Severus Snape teaches Potions at Hogwarts. Harry doesnt know that he was at school with his dad and that they were enemies. Now Snape hates Harry as much as he hated his dad. No one in the school likes Severus Snape because he is not fair : he has favourites the evil pupils and annoys all the others. But he is not as evil as everyone thinks.
