Rationale From the beginning until now, Kanlungan Pilipinas has been a promoter of significant changes in society. It initiates various programs focusing in outreach, environment, and education. With its Environmental Programs like Camp for Life and Oplan Linis Daan at Eskwelahan sa Halalan, the movement promotes stewardess of environment and appreciation of Gods creations. It also participates in different environmental initiatives and events like the International Coastal Clean-up and Earth Hour. In its Outreach Programs like the Oplan Sagip Batang Pier, the award-winning project of the movement, caters the less-privileged people and gives assistance for their welfare.

In Educational Programs like the Ang ABAKADA at ang mga Bata and Establishment of Mini-Library and Book Drive in communities, promotes the value of education and drive for universal literacy. The Movement is serious in taking initiatives in fighting for the peril of the society. Every year, the movement is conducting its annual national convention that serves as the general assembly of its officials and members. For this years convention, it aims to solicit the help of the student leaders, youth organizations, school officials, Sangguniang Kabataan, non-government organizations and other groups and individuals to make this event as an avenue of collating the best of ideas of the stakeholders that will be discussed and assessed to bring about an appropriate response. The noblest objective of this gathering is as an instrument to support a Legacy Project related to education. An advocacy share of Php 500.00 per participant will be taken out from their registration fees that will be donated to the chosen project of the movement. This convention for-a-cause will help the Oplan Panturo: Pantulong sa mga Guro project of Kanlungan Pilipinas Rosario Batangas Balangay. Volunteers of this chapter are helping indigent schools in their municipality in making visual aids and training materials that will help teachers for more effective teaching. Finally, this convention aims to become a venue for making a covenant by sharing of commitments among the participants in its quest for the promotion of the value of education for the development of the country. Now on its 12th year, Kanlungan Pilipinas in partnership with active institutional stakeholders on the issue, aim to collect the best model, principles and approaches as concern to valuable benefits of education from educational advocates. These will be the objectives of the 7th convention of the movement which will be held on the Summer Capital of the Philippines, the well-known Baguio City, Benguet. Goal To enhance the awareness, concern, and responsibility among the stakeholders on the value and roles of education in the development of the country. Highlights of the Convention Series of Talks:

Talk #1 - The Philippine Education at a Glance Mr. Nelson G. Agoyaoy, the Director for Education and Research of Kanlungan Pilipinas and the Model Faculty for 2012 of the University of the East, will give the participants a glimpse on the milestones of Philippine Education and how it shapes the nation. Talk #2 - New Image of Activism: The Kanlungan Way Activism as one of the famous solutions of some Filipinos in changing this country will be redefined by Mr. Herald Kyut Villarca, the Founder and

Chairman of Kanlungan Pilipinas, and how this movement introduced this act as a tool of change through its programs and projects. Talk #3 - The Thin Line Between Education and Learning Mr. Lloyd A. Luna, the President of LLOYDLUNA Companies, a successful Filipino Youth and prominent motivational speaker, will give his insights on the value of education and learning and the secrets for becoming a successful individual. Talk #4 - The Role of the Youth in Education National Youth Commission as the voice and advocates of the youth is the Philippine government's sole policy-making body on youth affairs will bring the participants the significant role of the youth as the backbone of the society in education aspect of the Philippines as a country through its one of the commissioners, Ms. Georgina P. Nava, Commissioner Representing Luzon. Talk #5 - Revolutionaries: The Pro-Education Initiatives of (some) TAYO Awardees An exciting talk from Mr. Rollie Fabi, the Chairman of the countrys sole award-giving body in the country that recognizes outstanding youth organizations, will give the participants inspirational stories from some of the TAYO awardees on how they took their stand in promoting education and literacy for this country.

The Legacy Project After a series of talks, Ms. Marianne Magtibay Custodio, the Adviser of Kanlungan Pilipinas Rosario Batangas Balangay will present the profile of the Oplan Panturo: Pantulong sa mga Guro, the recipient project of the proceeds of the advocacy shares from the participants and how the collected fund will help the said project. Education Advocates: Synergize! This part will serve as the planning session of the participants divided into commissions where they will draft project plans in relation to the convention theme to be implemented by them as their responses on the call of this event. This will be facilitated by Atty. Ernesto Salao, the Director for Legal Affairs and Ms. Arlene Donaire, Director for Linkages and Networking both from Kanlungan Pilipinas. Film Showing A film showing activity is scheduled on the first night whereas the participants will watch documentary works presenting the issues of education in the Philippines. Reflection and sharing parts will be held afterwards. It will be facilitated by Engr. Ricardo Malonda, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kanlungan Pilipinas. Sharing of Commitments

On the last day, part of the Closing Program is the Sharing of Commitment whereas the participants will sign into a Covenant expressing their pledge of contributions for the development of the country by being educational advocates.
