Bringing automation and control into the home used to be the domain of the rich and famous, now with M2 Concept Automation the luxuries and peace of mind home features are placed in the reach of the average home. Consider having control of heating and lighting around the home at the touch of button, either from a central control panel in the lounge or even via your mobile phone whilst out of town. When at home automation takes the worry out of energy saving through intelligent management of heating and lighting with the use occupancy detection sensors, temperature sensors and user preference settings.
Whether for security or simply to ensure the perfect lighting and atmosphere blind control is ideal.
To create specifically designed lighting scenes or set the mood with dimmed circuits.
Ventilation and airconditioning can be controlled equally as easily as radiators and heating systems.
Accidents and utility breakdowns are a constant threat to your home, with water leak sensors limit the damage.
Smoke detectors, CO2 sensors, alarms and SMS messaging can all be set up to ensure immediate action in an emergency.

Retail
Achieving a successful business unit requires good control of overheads and creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers. With M2 Concept Automation the potential of the Energy Management features can truly be exploited to your benefit. Consider being able to check alarm and security status 24hrs a day via mobile phone. The balance of good lighting and necessary lighting to show products off with impact can be achieved throught motion detection and light intensity control. Heating control features are key to utility cost management and environmental obligations.
Create the perfect scene, to set off the product in its best position.
Whether for customer announcement or background music control, integration of audio systems is all possible. General store or office lighting can be easily controlled to acheive sensible / safe conditions for users.
Audio visual systems for advertising or customer information systems can be synchronised to occupancy systems.
Heating of large retail spaces and open plan offices require quality feedback controls (PID) to achieve affordable levels of enviroment. Taking control of all systems at the touch of a single button simplifies procedures and avoids costly errors.

Applications
Industrial
Safety, security of assets and energy management have never been more crucial to the operations of manufacturing, distribution and industrial organisations. Consider a establishment where real-time integration of alarm systems, employee presence and lighting/heating can be achieved. With a central command centre from which both monitoring and control actions can be administered, both time and effort can be optimised. Mulitpurpose sensors for fire hazardous areas, flood risk or general security / intruder detection are just a few of the possibilities to help reduce overall running costs for a organisation.
Linking sprinkler systems within Concept with smoke detection sensors is simple.
Entrance / exit control via door sensors or PIR signals to keep a check on security.
Water leak detection in key location of risk or expensive assets can be implemented with the right system M2 Concept. Large premises heating or zonal management of HVAC can be controlled without investing in costly bespoke solution. Areas where cabling is difficult or changing environments are frequent, then wireless options for inputs and outputs is the solution. Efficient control of work space lighting makes significant cuts in utilitiy cost and extend life of installation.

PID Controller
A proportional integral derivative controller (PID controller) is a generic control loop feedback mechanism widely used in industrial control systems and is one of the most commonly used feedback systems. A PID controller calculates an error value as the difference between a measured process variable and a desired setpoint. The controller then attempts to minimize the error value by adjusting the system inputs available. In the absence of in-depth knowledge of the underlying process, rest assured that PID controllers are the best controllers.

Bus Cable
Bus system cable
System cabling is simple and flexible. The bus signal can be carried around the network on standard twisted or non-twisted pair cabling. The stability and frequency of the control signal allows it to be installed alongside power cabling and in the same wiring channels*. This bus system technology has been adopted from its proven successful application in the industrial environment for the past 25years and in home automation now for the last 10years. Transmission of multiple control signals along a 2-wire bussystems reduces overall cabling material requirements saving time and money.
*Cable used must have adequate insulation rating if installed along side mains cabling (Band II).
Network Topologies
The structure/topology of the bus system cabling is highly flexible, allowing the installation to include Star, Ring and Tree or even a combination of all three. The flexible nature of the topology ensure minimal cable requirement.

The heart of the installation is the M2 Concept Automation controller. It is an advanced Windows based central control unit known as a Channel Generator, which manages all the automatic functions in your system. The controller organizes the communication on the concept bus, which can handle up to 256 addresses split into 128 inputs and 128 outputs. If this is not enough, up to 3 external bus modules can be connected, bringing the total number of addresses up to 1024. The concept bus also delivers power to all the de-central concept products like light switches, thermostats and movement detectors. The controller itself can be powered by 230V AC or DC power from a battery or power supply. The system will continue operating after power failure by use of a back-up battery if available. It has communication ports for Ethernet and USB via which concept data can be monitored and controlled. Additionally a concept GSM-modem can be connected so that you can control your system by sending SMS-messages to your house. A computer/laptop is needed to run the easy 3-step programming tool, which will guide you through the sequence of house programming*: 1. Enter all the rooms and the necessary concept modules. 2. Assign all the names of input and outputs on the concept modules. 3. Define all the functions room by room for Light, Blinds, Heating, Air-conditioning and Ventilation,Windows and Alarms (like burglar alarms, smoke alarms and water alarms). All control combinations of light switches, PIR detectors, LUX sensors, real time functions, for light and dimmers are pre-programmed, so that the only thing required for you to do is to enter the names for the concept modules that are controlling the outputs. The same procedure applies for the control of roller blinds, windows and alarms. * - Programming software is available free on-line.
For full details on programming see the Quick Start Guide document.
Integration
M2 Concept Automation offers excellent integration options allowing its central control system to communicate and work in tandem with pre-existing systems such as:
Fire Alarm Systems Audio visual systems (via the Phillips Pronto) Burglar / Intruder Alarm systems Building Tannoy / announcement systems
Whats required? Often its as simple as a pair of volt free contacts which can be used to provide the M2 Concept system with the necessary trigger signal. In other cases compatibilty may require checking to ensure communication / signal interpretation can be reliably achieved. Consider using concept input signals to trigger third party systems such as controlling TV/music systems when door bell or telephone rings.
Touch Screens The ability to have access to all functions within the M2 Concept system is achieved with the use of windows based touch screens. These can be programmed and tailored to each individual installation, providing control to lighting, heating, security and automation functions.
