The City of Portland, Oregon is the registered trademark owner and copyright holder of the Portland, Oregon sign and all associated intellectual property rights. Your use of the Portland, Oregon sign without permission is a violation of the City of Portlands intellectual property rights. The City of Portland acquired the rights to the Portland, Oregon sign and maintains a registered mark in the State of Oregon, per attached Exhibit A. In addition, the City has been actively involved in the community in its efforts to further promote the Portland, Oregon sign and its brand. As a result of these efforts, the Citys citizens, and the general public, have come to recognize the Portland, Oregon sign as an established icon of the City. The Citys Office of Management and Finance controls licensing for use of the Portland, Oregon sign, and, per the terms of their bureau policy, is willing to offer you a license to use the Citys mark. CITY OF PORTLAND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE Whereas the City of Portland desires to promote a positive image of the City; and Whereas, the City of Portland desires to promote good will for the general benefit of the City; and Whereas, the City of Portland supports use by local businesses; and Whereas, the City of Portland has been asked by (insert name) (Licensee), to authorize use of the Portland, Oregon sign (the Intellectual Property); The City authorizes use of the Intellectual Property as follows: (1) The City of Portland, Oregon (the City) hereby gives, grants and assigns to Licensee consent, permission and limited license to include the Intellectual Property identified below in connection with the Authorized Use (Use), as more fully described below. Intellectual Property: The Portland, Oregon sign, registered mark in the State of Oregon, to appear as shown in attached Exhibit A. Authorized Use: Photos, artwork, posters and other two dimensional images of the Intellectual Property. (2) The City shall not have, and shall not claim, any interest in the Use, and City acknowledges and agrees all right, title and interest in and to the products created from the Use are the sole and exclusive property of Licensee. (3) The Citys grant of this license does not imply endorsement of the products, materials or any content therein. (4) Wherever possible, the Licensee shall give attribution to the City of Portland.

(5) The City shall have all legal remedies available for any unauthorized, unlicensed use of City Intellectual Property.
