2013 Assuring Radiation Protection (CFDA No. 93.103) Purpose: To provide financial support for a forum established to foster the exchange of ideas and information among the states and the federal government concerning radiation control and to study existing and potential radiological health problems of mutual interest and to apply their increasingly limited resources with maximum efficiency in seeking ways to address these problems; foster coordination and provide original views. Applied Technology Research and Development for Criminal Justice Purposes (CFDA No. 16.560) Purpose: To seek proposals for applied technology research and development projects leading to the introduction into practice of improved technologies for use by law enforcement, courts, and corrections agencies. National Institute of Justice is particularly interested in the application of expert systems technologies to enhance the performance of nonexpert practitioners and improved devices to locate and track offenders that are under supervision in the community. Broadening Participation Research Initiation Grants in Engineering (CFDA No. 47.041) Purpose: To promote the development of early career faculty who will become champions for diversity and broadening participation of underrepresented groups in engineering throughout their careers and enable early career faculty to integrate effective diversity and broadening participation strategies in their engineering research, education, and innovation activities. Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program: Minority-Serving Institution Field-Initiated Projects (Research) (CFDA No. 84.133G-4) Purpose: To develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities; to improve the capacity of minority entities to conduct high-quality disability and rehabilitation research. Eligibility: Minority entities and Indian tribes; a Hispanic-serving institution of higher education; an American Indian tribal college or university; or another institution of higher education whose minority student enrollment is at least 50 percent. Drug-Free Communities Support Program (CFDA No. 93.276) Purpose: To establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private nonprofit agencies, and federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance use among youth; reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse. value in the classroom for students with disabilities; provide support for captioning and video description that is appropriate for use in the classroom; and provide accessible educational materials to students with disabilities in a timely manner. Environmental Literacy Grants for Building Capacity of Informal and Formal Educators (CFDA No. 11.008) Purpose: To build the capacity of informal educators (including interpreters and docents) and/or formal educators (pre- or in-service) to use NOAA data and data access tools to help K-12 students and/or the public understand and respond to global change. National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR): Research Fellowships Program (CFDA No. 84.133F-1) Purpose: To build research capacity by providing support to highly qualified individuals, including those who are individuals with disabilities; perform research on the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities and to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, and to improve the effectiveness of services. Eligibility: Have training and experience that indicate a potential for engaging in scientific research related to the solution of rehabilitation problems of individuals with disabilities; Merit Fellowship, an individual must have either advanced professional training or experience in independent study in an area which is directly pertinent to disability and had research experience at the doctoral level; Distinguished Fellowship, an individual must have seven or more years of research experience in subject areas, methods, or techniques relevant to rehabilitation research and must have a doctorate, other terminal degree, or comparable academic qualifications.
