Each parish should have received information (Bulletin inserts, Pastors comments, and poster) from the national office. If you have not received the information you can find it on the Black and Indian Mission website. The Diocese of Duluth is grateful for the grant money we receive from this collection each year. In particular the grant money helped make it possible for us to send representatives from our diocese to the Canonization of St. Kateri and to sponsor special days of learning more about Kateri as a role model for all peoples. Website for the Black and Indian Mission Office: http://www.blackandindianmission.org/ Lent within the Catholic Faith is a time of Sacrifice & Offering The traditional Indian life also fostered these two common practices even before missionary evangelization. Everything was done with the other in mind; that is, what was good for the community. Offerings were performed each day as the first thing upon rising and numerous times throughout the day to God as prayers of gratitude and supplication. St. Kateris entire life was one of prayer. Is it any wonder that St. Kateri is such a role model for every person regardless of culture!
