ADofInfoSys
System Study - Activity that Precede all other Analysis activities. System Analysis Process of Gathering & Interpreting Facts, Diagnosing Problems and Using information to recommend Improvements to the System. To Proceed One must understand the working of Existing system and Flow of Information. Analysis Specifies What the System should do. System Design Process of Planning a new approach OR one to replace OR complement an existing system. Design Specifies How to Accomplish the Objective.

Prototype
Systems Prototype Method
Defining Prototype - A Prototype is an original type, form, or instance of something serving as a typical example, basis, or standard for other things of the same category. When to use Prototype No System already present as proposed one, Partial Features are known, Requirements not known fully, Evolving Alternate versions. Prototyping Process Identify the users known info., requirements, Develop working prototype, Use this model, Note changes required, Revise Prototype, Repeat steps.
Vinay Arora CSED
Advantages of prototyping
May provide the Proof of concept necessary to attract funding Early visibility of the prototype gives users an idea of what the final system looks like Encourages active participation among users and producer Enables a higher output for user Cost effective (Development costs reduced) Increases system development speed Assists to identify any problems in earlier design, requirements analysis and coding activities Various aspects can be tested and quicker feedback can be got from the user
TECHNICAL Feasibility
TECHNICAL Feasibility: Can the work for the Project be done with current equipments, existing software technology, and available personnel?
ECONOMIC Feasibility
ECONOMIC Feasibility: Are there sufficient benefits in creating the system to make the cost acceptable?
Are the costs of NOT creating the system so great that the project must be undertaken?
OPERATIONAL Feasibility
OPERATIONAL Feasibility: Will the system be used if it is developed and implemented?
Will there be resistance from users that will undermine the possible application benefits?
Evaluation
Evaluation is performed to evaluate the STRENGTH & WEAKNESSES of a SYSTEM. Dimensions for Evaluation: # Operational Evaluation # Organizational Impact # User Manager Assessment
OPERATIONAL Evaluation
Ease of USE. Response Time. Suitability of Information Formats. Overall Reliability. Level Of Utilization.
ORGANIZATIONAL Impact
Benefits to Organization (Cost, Revenue and Profit). Operational Efficiency . Competitive Impact.
